Damnit! I think the salesman updated the phone when he first turned it on.
I asked for the phone. Brand new and they didn't even have it out on the floor yet. I was the first one to buy one.

Just gave me an idea, the battery saver on our phone has to have some type of low level access to reduce the CPU clock or core parking and hence "reduce performance" Has anyone tried to elevate the it's privileges ? Seems like the kind of thing they wouldn't worry too much about someone exploiting.

Battery saver just changes the CPU governor to a power saving governor.

They usually only ship with 3 defaults.

It reboots system.

This is my main phone it is on b01 but in about a month anyone can use it for testing.
Baseband has always been B01 as far as I know. The important number is specifically under Build Number.

Guys, when I said a few CPU cycles, I meant a few. The CPU does millions+ cycles per second. We would have to quite literally halt the entire execution of the phone to prevent it from rebooting.

Adb reboot disemmcwp
Then kingroot should root your device easily..
Have we actually been able to confirm this does anything at all? I have a feeling a flag may need to be set before this command does anything?

Well according to zte kernel source this command still exist. So trying worth it..

Only works on ftm mode with privilege elevation.

Won't work on userland, which is why it worked on the original zmax when the shell was exploited to stay on root privilege

I would still say that kingroot may work on devices that are still on june security patch.

I bought my ZMAX PRO the day it was released and it was on B04. I think maybe the phones shipped to Walmart might be the B01 versions? I wonder if there is any old Walmart stock of those phones?
So when you achieve perma-root what happens after that?
Do you leave it as is, because you've achieved he mission of rooting it. Or do you work on way to get the bootloader unlocked. This phone is locked up tight. Just wondering
What I normally do is unlock the bootloader if capable, flash TWRP (if not already flashed), then start compiling ROMs for the device, generally CM (Yeah. I prefer CM over the new Lineage), or a custom flavor like a debloated stock ROM with some performance tweaks.
For my old Desire 626 and Galaxy S2 that is currently bricked, I attempt to install desktop operating systems on them, or as will be the case with the Z981, using the working root method to find a root method for other security patches.

I'm willing to help in any way I can. This phone is making me mad lately, so much I'm coming out of lurking to assist or at least help brainstorm.

If it is, it doesn't even try to root anymore.

@SapphireEx
Check your B08 phone. Mine on B08 says it is on the June 1st 2016 Security Patch.
It is indeed

Oh it's easy just boot it up in BIOS and set the multiplier to x1 or the bus to 333MHz. Oh wait.... Not a real computer. .
HAHAHA! I wish!
