Do you know where there is any source code for the Motorola apk? I can try to tweak it, but I don't think the phone will allow it to edit anything. Everything I've been able to change has reverted when the phone reboots.
 
A temp root. Then messis custom recovery installed might get us a permaroot. We can always flash supersu through recovery. I'll try to locate source code for you.
 
I've been working with this phone for a few months now and have come no closer to rooting it. This sucks. I think its time we set up a reward. A cash prize of some sort, to the first person to successfully give us root. Any ideas on how to do this and keep track of how much?

There are many options of rooting this phone, it's just that we need to find them and/or use exploits to get root as ADB doesn't work
 
I agree. I guess I'll begin. I'll start the bounty with $100 of my own money. We're at a standstill and need outside help. Not many are going to do it for the fun of it so we do need an incentive. I suggest a new thread to keep track of pledges toward a root bounty for this device.
 
Hello, I tried to root with kingo root desktop and (I know) it failed! But my concern is that now root checker says that I am not rooted but I have busybox installed. My question is that if it's gonna affect any possible OTA that Metro PCS might release if i install such an OTA?

This makes me feel like you had a temp root... I'm skeptical. If you could reproduce that and install messi's twrp, you could flash supersu as a zip from recovery. And.... BOOM!! ROOT!!

Well, I'm not quite sure about it... But, is it normal that kingo root install busybox commands eventhou didn't install su binaries? Kinda confused! And I ask again, you think it is gonna affect any OTA?
 
BusyBox is already preinstalled on the phone that's why I know there has to be a way. And it's probably right there. Because the phone already has everything on it that once it's rooted. It's like boom.
