Hello all, can't remember all the usernames from the past 4 months I've been following this group but to any who weren't here or don't remember, I've made 2 attempts to garner some sort of meaningful response from ZTE on their forum community.zteusa.com by way of contacting a support agent through ZTE's online support chat. Both times, as every support agent is supposed to, the people I spoke with were very understanding and assured me that a request would be handed to the forum staff to come and join the discussion in a thread I made there about root on our phone. Needless to say, nothing ever came of my attempts. I was also promised the second time around by the agent I talked to that she would contact me by email to let me know the result of the request she supposedly put in. I heard nothing from her again, not even a denial. The thread I had made got a decent amount of traffic and comments (for the weak user base that forum has) but fizzled out fairly quick. I checked back frequently for a while but became bored and didn't go back, until now. Wouldn't you know it, a moderator FINALLY replied to the thread. I'll let his comment speak for itself:
'As has been stated multiple times on this thread. This is a 'carrier' device. There are rules, stipulations and most important of all a contract that is signed with the carrier. This is for all manufacturers. ZTE cannot change or add what is being asked for. Carriers will 'network' unlock your device after a certain time(so it can be used with another carrier) but they are not going to provide an official root or bootloader unlock for your device.
Locking Thread....'
Obviously not even the person I was hoping to get attention from, just a regular old moderator that has absolutely zero affiliation with the company besides possibly a paycheck. And of course he chose to go along with what the one extremely (and really quite oddly) root opposed individual in the thread was spewing about carriers. At this point I am at a crossroads, I can start pestering ZTE again and perhaps try a more persistent approach, or I could stop what is likely a dead end. There's nothing else I can contribute to this group as I can't risk bricking my phone, can't donate and cannot write software or theorize anything more than the most basic root methods which we've already gone over months ago. Which way do I go?
P.S. I did report the mod's comment with a pretty good reason as to why it should be removed but I have absolutely no expectation for action to be taken. I would most likely have to make a new thread if you guys think I should continue to make a stand on the ZTE forum.
