Just got the device for $40, lets do this. I have knowledge of adb and fastboot. Whatevers gotta happen lets make it happen, even stock this devices benchmarking stomps similar phones like idol 4 36k, idol 3 rooted 41k, stylo 2 plus 40k, zmax pro 46k.. antutu results, i have all of these devices ;) i work for cricket and even jumped over to grab this steal, so lets do it.

My wife and I are so fed up with my Zmax that I'm almost tempted to flash it. If a brick results I wont feel so bad about tossing into the PC recycling bin at work :)

If anybody is interested in any cases send me a PM. Have 4 cases: One Metro PCS folio (new), one BNIB ZTE folio, one used ZTE folio and one slightly used MPCS blue/grey hybrid bumper case. Sell them all for cheeeep.

I may also throw the phone in with the mix, it's a good test dummy for you butchers. Loses network intermittently, fine otherwise. Has worn protection since first 20 min out of the box. Id love to brick it, unfortunately I just have no time.

I've got two of them that I'm not afraid to brick. If anyone has any ideas to try, I'm willing to go for it.

I like the phone, but the screen glitches out all the time. I'm ready to go buy something different anyway. I bought them because I needed a phone that day after losing an HTC one m9.

I've never had a phone that was this picky about having a perfectly clean screen. It seems like I have to wipe it down everytime I pick it up.

i have a zte zmax pro that i bought and factory reset so it is Google/FRP Locked now. i can experiment on it as long as im given instructions step by step. i bought a Note so bricking this one does'nt matter to me.

There are no instructions for rooting this devices yet. The only one here who could probably root it is Messi and even him will have to try different ways. I think this job can only be made by a dev, that is my opinion.

Try Wondershare TuneGo, It's a strange program used for sharing that has a one click root option, if we have selinux support.falling asleep, but keeping a close eye on this.

I know enough to substitute a few lines of code, and compile it. Finding the way to execute it, and write the recovery is where we are stuck correct?

I'm perfectly willing, and able to give it a try. I actually took them in to be warrantied yesterday, and they were out, so if we brick the two I have before Monday we get two more chances. I just have to make sure they're dead when I take them in. They already okayed it. The screens on both were acting nuts when I went in.

Dude if you read back it sounded like you bailed maybe it's just me but that's what I saw I meant no disrespect at all
I agree it did sound a little like that. If u read the post its hard to tell what u exactly meant I'm guessing because of a typo. But please don't give up on the device and stop refunding money. The sooner u get the money needed the better. Masterchief already bailed on us we need you.

I did discover that the beta version of Zeta Torrent is able to write to the boot partition accidentally yesterday. I don't know if the files will execute at boot, or from a shell. I thought I set the path to the root directory of my SD card, but I screwed up.

I'm using version 3.3.1

I have two movies stuck on the partition that I am not able to move, copy, delete or play. That might be a way to ovewrite the correct files. I was planning on giving it a shot tonight. I don't have any way to back up the originals, or an exploited copy to try it with, so it might be a one shot deal.

If you have anything worth trying I'll do it.

I don't know if the permissions will be right, bit it's worth a shot. I haven't seen anything else that looks promising. It's obvious that the tools suggested for flashing aren't getting it done.

Man don't worry I'm not giving up but i either can't do much without having the device in my hands , I'm still waiting for anyone to send me a dev device...

Hmm..what's zeta torrent is ?

If that is what I think it is and it did what he said it did, then some one should upload a superuser and binaries in a torrent and let it do its thing.

It's a bittorrent client. It apparently can't tell the difference between the internal, and external cards. I don't know how it is able to write to it.
