Install the apk file
Open the apk file
Click "Install Recovery (this flashes TWRP to your recovery partition, and this only needs to be done once)
Click Reboot recovery
Use TWRP to do many things
Download v2
fixed issues that could cause problems when formatting /data

Hi, im fairly new to the forums. just wanted to say thank you for your work and ill drop you a donation when i get a chance, youre the best! Im not the best with android devices, so hopefully one of you could help me with this. I rooted my zmax on metropcs 4.4.4 using kingroot and installed some twrp i found off a youtube vid.. i just downloaded this newer updated one. -- the problem is i dont have rw.. it says the filesystem is locked or something.. // sorry if this is stupid i dont really know what im doing >.<

i downloaded something called root check or root checker, it gave me the option to download supersu in the root checker app. i dont know what you mean by "flash" sorry.. noob here >-< edit;; i think i installed supersu befote twrp

Is is ok to rename the backup files after making a backup in TWRP or will this not allow the restore to restore correctly? I believe I had this issue with CWM

I'm sure it should be fine to rename backups after they are made with TWRP. But to make sure, copy an existing backup of yours(best would be your current OS configuration you don't lose anything), rename it and try it out

This isn't necessary. Renaming your backups will not be a problem. There is even an option in twrp to rename your backup before and after it is already made.

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but when you are in a bootloop at the powered by Android screen, and can't get twrp to come up with the power, volume up, holding the power button brought up twrp for me.

Any particular reason we're not using TWRP 2.8? I just noticed that.

probably because twrp 2.7 does everything we need it to. The only real advantage with twrp 2.8 is that you can install twrp themes. I like using themes for twrp but its not needed. Twrp is a tool. Doesn't need to be fancy as long as it works.
