Root ZV6 V.5 Stock Mod - Debloated - No Gapps

What does this file do (wfdcommon.jar)?
From what I looked up online, it's part of the "WiFi Display" (hence the Wfd acronym) capabilities, such as Miracast. It shouldn't take up any resources unless your mirroring your LG Volt to a different display.

@Curtis1973 how did you mod the LG Quick Settings to not have the circle buttons? If it was in the systemui apk then I replaced it as the ZV6 update zip contained a patch. If it was G2 Tweaksbox then I couldn't figure it out.

Post me a screen of the buttons you are talking about

He might of done it himself by modding the SystemUI apk. I used G2Tweaksbox for mine

Ah that looks like the lg tribute quick settings panel. I edited those images using photoshop and put them back in LGSystemUI.apk. In drawable/hdpi. Just get them from the original LGSystemUI apk and put them in the new one. Now I made no edits to those in the lg volt and g2 tweaksbox doesn't have settings to edit those except for background color and transparency.

Did you decompile the SystemUI or did you just rename it as a zip and edited it from there?

No used winrar to open the apk then dragged drawble/hdpi to desktop and edited the images then used winrar to drag the changes back in. Winrar will ask how you want to save. Select store method.
What type of editing are you doing? Just resizes or??
Im asking so I can try and learn.

I sometimes do complete icon replacement, sometimes do a coloration like those on the tribute quick settings icons and sometimes i do resizing. Photoshop was my go to editor. Youll need a png editor plugin for it so you keep the formatting proper. Many people use gimp which is probably better for png as photoshop does not display those tricky border lines that android pngs use. Screw those up and your png will smear if its the type used in widgets, messaging apps with bubbles, etc. I stuck with photoshop even with issues because it was more familiar to me than gimp was.

A trick with photoshop in general is the copy paste method. In it you can paste another png over top the original as a layer, resize it to fit within the borders of the original then set the original layer opacity to zero, merge the layers and save. This will keep the original pngs formatting which makes for a quick and easy edit without the need to be particular with the formatting.

Thanks again

So following that, as long as the new layer(s) is(are) in the confines of the original border (even if smaller than), the original dictates the parameters. With that, we can make those wicked looking icons (transparency levels!!)

Yeah. If the png already supported transparency(in some cases even if it didnt but the xml doesn't state it will show with transparencies). As for what the original layer dictates its only applicable if you do not select "save as". Only save. Save as will throw away original formats and ask you to select format to save as meaning interlaced, etc. You can do this also but it requires you to really get the png layout correct. Or else smearing, stretching and other oddities will occur.

Hi. To stop the launcher notification just long press on the notification, click app info, and turn off app notifications. Didnt intend on that moab hosts file being in there. Always over look something lol
Thanks.

I'm happy with the LG launcher and the AOSP theme for it.

When I was making roms (back when I actually had free time) I used to include the moab host but it occasionally caused issues so I stopped also now you have to make a request from the dev that makes it if you want to include it in a rom.

I will be removing it in the future. Thought I did. Its not in the Xperia versions. If its blocking stuff that is ok then its not worth using any way.

I think I have Split View from LG G3 working on our rom. Want to test everything in as best I can before posting the files to be sure its working good enough to be useful. Heres a screen or two.

Seems to be functional as you can see by the screens. Cant say its 100% bug free though.

Once mod is installed you just long press back button to access the mod.

Just rooted and updated to this ROM, but I noticed that the language settings were not full package (guess for the sake of space saving), I want to install chinese input method at least, but could not use it because the chinese characters were shown as blank. Is there a simple way to solve this? Thanks

You can restore all fonts trimmed from the rom by copying the font directory over to your device from stock deodexef and install chinese language in Keyboard settings.

Thanks, got that figured out by googling a bit. Now I noticed two problems, straight out from ZV3 stock, flashed ZV6 radio and this ZV6 ROM after rooting
1. I can't properly power off with the ROM. I long press the power button and choose power off, and it will shut off the home screen, making attempts, but it wouldn't power off, instead I see the home button lighting change color and a black screen (with back light on). If I long press power button at this stage, it actually reboots. The only power off I can use is to plug the battery.
*EDIT*: can't proper reboot while in the system as well, choose reboot and it goes to the same thing, with homelight changing, but not finish the reboot.

**Edit*: seems like the reboot function from other apps is broken too. For example, link2sd, flashify, after the work, it asks for reboot the device, but it will hang there without finishing reboot.

I tried to wipe it clean in recovery, but it did not solve the problem. Straight out of new wipe, with no other apps, it had the same symptoms.

2. I had a 32G card, with 4G ext-2 2nd partition and Link2sd plus installed. Seems it can't mount the 2nd partition, it tries and hangs at the mounting script running stage. I read somewhere only ext4 format works with this phone (my GS3 actually only works at ext2 format) and I need to assign permission to the SD card using xposed (something I did not have to do with GS3)? Can anyone explain a little bit please?

Thanks a lot.

I use Link2SD and never had to grant permission to use the second partition. You should only need to do that to bind to the first partition. That can be done with one of the SD patches in the store... Don't know why you would use Xposed for that. Also, those permissions should already be set in this ROM. I've used ext2 for the second partition as well. Maybe you got some bad information? How did you format your card? I've not had any luck with using Aparted on the phone, I've had to use Linux to partition.

As for your other issues, there's something very wrong. I would wipe everything except external SD and start over, installing the ROM, then gapps in one shot.

Updated to ZV6 .... Going Settings->Home Screen cause FC.
Is the settings app the only thing closing? If so that's normal because the LG home launcher was removed from this rom to help save storage space and ram. Just ignore the 'home screen' section of the settings app.

If you want to edit the Xperia home launcher, there are two ways to get to those settings. By going to the app drawer and tapping the 3 dot menu that's in the upper right corner. Or by just taping and holding a blank area of one of the desktop/home screen icon panels, this will bring up a menu at the bottom that has a option to go to the launcher settings.

Updating from zv3 all the way up to zv6 without any of the previous updates might be an issue. I suggest doing a complete wipe and at least an install of zv5 radio and rom then step up to zv6. I do not suggest a flash over without wiping.
