The archives didn't return hits so here goes.

The app from Google didn't geotag pictures, and I don't like the OpenCamera app I'm using (way too many features for my need, slow to start and take pictures). As for picture quality, the hardware isn't very good anyway, so there's not much the app can do in that respect.

Is there a simple and ad-free camera application you would recommend. FWIW, I'm using custom ROM "Evolver" with Android 13.

When I clear cache from a file app, it just gets rid of stuff that makes it faster, right? What happens if data get cleared? Do all the files disappear?

When I get a text, my galaxy watch 4 shows it at the bottom of the conversation. So if there are are previous texts in the the conversation, I have to scroll all the way to the top of the thread to see who the sender. Sure, sometimes it's obvious, but a lot of times it isn't, such as when it's a conversation that hasn't been active for a few days or longer. Is there any way to have it show the sender at the top of the text rather than the top of the thread? It does it if it's a group chat but not for an individual chat. Thanks in advance.

I am using an Android smartphone (which happens to be a Motorola). Because my digital organiser is on the blink, I have transferred all of the entries in it, into the Calendar app that lives in my phone. At some time next year, it will be time to replace my smartphone, and I am concerned about losing all the entries that I so laboriously copied into the Calendar. Nearly all of these are repeated tasks that, having been done, will be moved forward to the next occasion (some of which will be next week, some next month, some will be a few months into the future, and just a few will be a few years into the future).

How can these entries be saved, so that it will not be necessary to enter them all again, on a new phone? I have next to no technical knowledge, where phones are concerned.

What's a good alternative? Talkatone says it uses google play services and I don't want that. Whatever it is has to be WiFi.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet S6 SM-T867U.

I was hoping to get Android Auto to connect to my Google Pixel 8, but the tablet says Android Auto isn't compatible with the tablet.

Is there a way I can force it to work? Maybe use some form of crack of some kind?

This just started happening today at a place I'm working at and connecting to their corporate guest wifi. Only the forums are being blocked (as malware) not the main site.
I don't have access to IT here to inquire about it but perhaps management could look into why the forums might be blocked. I suspect this isn't the only place where it's happening.

My wife has a Samsung A41 runnung Android 12. It frequently gives what I presume to be the default system alert sound (4 tones) but when she unlocks there is no indication of the source. Pulling down the notification panel there's nothing there, and no flags on any apps. I've been through Notifications in Settings and turned off everything except for the most-used apps (mail, messages, Whatsapp) but she's still getting these annoying alerts. What the heck is the point of the system generating these alerts if we can't find the reason for them? Is there any way to find out?

How do I reset my Android Samsung phone back to factory settings? I do not know how or why or what one of my multiple messaging apps has the bug but I am not able to receive a text message from Facebook to reacquire my Facebook account.

I hope that 23 was a decent year for you and yours and 24 will be even better. Any special plans to ring in the new year? Any traditions that are always observed on the holiday? And how about those new year resolutions that your made and kept or plan to make and keep?

For a number of years, I've hosted a party at the cabin with friends to see the new year begin. I plan to do an abbreviated version of the party this year. My health won't allow me to do an over night gig but we are still gathering at the cabin the 31st. Two couples will spend the night and the rest of us, including me, will cut out early evening. I haven't seen my buds since Thanksgiving so I'm looking forward to sharing time with them.

I don't know that I've ever missed having black eyed peas on the first day of the year. I don't know that it's brought me good luck but I'm not flirting with disaster. I'll be having my traditional dish again this year.

I started and will be observing my new year's resolution made a month early this year. My diet has improved in an attempt to be healthier and I quit smoking a month back. My hand was forced but I'm calling it a resolution and saying it was entirely my idea. It makes a far better story. 🤣

This seems to happen with certain older apps I still like to use, and only on Android 13/One UI 5.1 devices. It's not a crash, because then it'd say 'app has stopped/app keeps stopping' instead. In this case, it shows 'Angry Birds has been closed because it has a bug' which appears to be a Device Care issue, perhaps it's not liking the resources it wants to use, or it's using too many bits of RAM/CPU, in either case, Device Care is closing the app assuming something is wrong. However, if running Android 12 or below, with One UI 4 or below, it runs without an issue.

Angry Birds 1.6.2 isn't the only time this has popped up, but I do not know how to circumvent the issue. I've turned as many things off in Device Care as I can, but it still happens. The wording 'has been closed' vs ' has closed/stopped' indicates something actually shut the app down, not the app actually crashing. I have had apps crash but the wording is very different, saying 'ES File Explorer has stopped'.

Does anyone know any method to circumvent whatever idiot proofing Samsung has apparently enabled that is shutting apps it thinks 'has bugs' down? I know for certain Angry Birds 1.6.2 has NO bugs at all. It ran fine until the last security patch that upgraded One UI from 5 to 5.1.

EDIT: Fixed the issue by setting battery optimization to unrestricted. Stupid Samsung!!!

I don't follow NCAA football but usually try to watch some of the bowl games. Yesterday I watched Kansas U win their bowl game and tonight I just watched Kansas State win their bowl game. I call these early bowl games the nose pick bowls. They really don't amount to much at all if you don't have a dog in the fight. I'm now watching the Valero Alamo bowl between Arizona and Oklahoma. Az has the early lead 3 zip but I'll be rooting for Oklahoma. They at least play in the big 12 like both of the Kansas teams. I can't say I really have a big care about who wins but it's always fun to root for someone. As I type, AZ just scored a TD. Maybe I'll root for them. I was going to watch the Jets Browns game but when I tuned in it was already lopsided.

The better or at least higher profile bowl games are yet to be played. Anybody have a team I should root for?

I have a new Pixel to replace my old Pixel. All has gone well except for transferring the open tabs in Edge and Chrome. All of my lookup so far suggests that as along as I'm signed into the same account in the browsers and have sync enabled and tabs selected, then they will sync.
Unfortunately this does not happen so I'm thinking that only works for computers but not phones. There are only a few in Chrome but I have a bunch open in Edge on the old phone. So far my only workaround is to go to each tabs webpage and save it to a Collection. That syncs. But with as many tabs as I have, it's going to take a very long time to do that.

So I'm hoping someone knows of a way to get the tabs to sync. Both phones are connected to my home wi-fi at 5GHz so speed or connectivity isn't an issue.

We are using Android 13 on three of our mobile devices.
We want to turn OFF all notifications on most app.

But when we start all the app EVERYTIME, it keep asking to turn notification ON.
How to turn off this request?
