Why is IPhone more secure than Android?

You always need to be wary about claims one company makes about another's product. Microsoft waged a long black propaganda campaign against open source, and it sounds like Apple or its fans may be picking lines from their script. But both MS and Apple have too often relied on "security through obscurity", i.e. hoping that others don't know about the vulnerabilities in their systems and trusting that they won't be discovered, a model which has failed repeatedly.

The truth is that the biggest difference in security between the two is that it's much easier to sideload an app from a dodgy source on Android (the price of greater freedom in where you get apps from is that you need to consider whether you can actually trust the place that is offering the app you want), and that Apple's vetting of apps in their App Store is better than Google's vetting of content in the Play Store. However, this difference does tend to be overstated by Apple and its fans: malicious apps do still make it into the App Store, and some remain there undetected for a long time, and so iOS users still need to apply caution. And of course the majority of Android users only download apps from the Play Store, so the first difference is overstated too. But then Apple have a commercial reason for sticking to that line: they are trying to defend a monopoly on their platform, and their chosen line of defense is that if you allow iOS users to download apps from elsewhere then they will be instantly overwhelmed by malware, so really the monopoly is for their users' good...

Invoke app from lock screen

Hi!

So I've never tried anything regarding android development, but I was asked to create an simple app for my gf's summer camp. They basically want to somehow suddenly start a video on like 5 locked phones. (As if they got hacked in a movie and there was this threatening video message played simultaneously on all devices...). So I got android studio running, played with the controlls for a while and I think I got the part with the video activity running pretty well. But I now got stuck on trying to invoke this activity from locked screen. My idea is that there will be something running (service, I suppose) in the background.. waiting for signal (timer or something like periodic checking of some web server I could create). And when it's time comes, it will invoke the video activity from locked screen.

Could someone help me out and give me an idea, how can I accomplish that (mainly the locked screen invoke part)? Even terms and concepts to look for will be very much appriciated!!

Thank you guys in advance <3

Another day, another format

I got CHM Reader X. There is a chm file that I have. Supposedly the Moto G "cannot preview this file type". View attachment 157416

When I get oddball video files that won't play in my gallery, like flash and some others, I have found that I can share them to YouCut, and watch them that way.

If it is domething that I decide to keep or share, then I simply save it with YouCut, and the video is transcribed into a mp4 format.

Other files I just use an online converter.

How do I turn off paging in the new Samsung Notes app?

i'm not sure if it's a new update or not, but here's the solution i found:
tap three line button on the left top of main notes page. on the right of newly opened menu, there's a settings button. it opens Samsung notes settings, and there's page Style in general settings. there's pages and infinite page there. when you select either, new notes come out with the new setting.
i hope it helped.

I made an account and came here just to reply to you and to say THANK YOU!!! I've been looking for this for ages and I can't believe it was hidden away in the main setting page rather than be in the actual note's settings!

Note 8 to s21U

Any more experiences with the S21, especially coming from the Note 8? I have the Note 8 and love it. I'm looking to go either to the Note 20 Ultra or the S21. It's looking like the Note 20 is going to be the end of the Note line so unless the S21 has things that are much better I might go that route.

Hotspot not working

Once again sorry for the long wait between updates. I've tried all of your suggestions(Thank you very much for all of your help, BTW) and nothing seemed to work. Just today I went in and paid my bill. I asked the employee that I talked to about the issue. At this point I had reached my wit's end(almost $100/month isn't worth it if I can't use the hotspot for my other devices). She informed me that it had been happening at an abnormally high rate as of late but she had no clue why. I decide to give fixing my hotspot issue one more try before I switch to another service provider and paid my normal rate. I get home after work and low and behold the hotspot is working again!

I'm still racking my brain to try and figure out what the problem was. Whatever it was, it has to have been on MetroPCS's end. Maybe it is due to T-Mobile(their parent network) going 5G, or employee error or something else entirely. Either way I'll give it another month and if this happens again upon the next iteration of my billing cycle I'll be switching to another provider. Thank you guys for the help and input!
