I've never pondered any of this before but this makes sense. My car infotainment system uses BT only and is limited - no maps etc. AA uses USB for maps but BT for calls etc. Oh. I don't know

If the only reason you sent the phone back was for 'SD card reading problems', then why not try a new SD card first?

That looks like the standard settings menu on an Android.

As for what is missing, without a pic of what was, it is hard to compare.

I would look under Display and see if there is a dark theme mode.

As you now also have a heat issue, that I will assume is new, is it possible that you instaled the wrong update?

You can (I would) put a fan on it in the meantime.

I'm still trying to work out what exactly you've got there, and from what I've seen so far. It could be a fake Samsung S7? Like the fact it doesn't have SAMSUNG at the top, and the Settings menu has abnormally few items on it. Where did you buy this phone?


This shows the main problem I'm having with your S7 Edge. And now why I think it could be a counterfeit, and isn't what it seems.

The positioning of the camera and sensors is different as well. Also the clock on yours is on the left, it should be on the right on this phone(when running stock Samsung firmware).

EDIT: Your phone actually looks more like a Galaxy S8 Edge. Although that still doesn't account for so few menu items in the Settings.

Ah, thanks Danny. I guess that explains why it's hard to find an app for this lol. I'll just have to occassionally check for the icon whenever I leave my phone, or I'm in a place with no signal or super noisey etc.

I'll keep searching though, seems like a good app to have it it's possible to create one

I have notification tones that i have made through an app. It is now showing in my music and I use them as notification sounds they are in the notification folder. Is there any way I can stop them from showing in my music but still keep using them as notifications. I have an oppo.

Likely because it doesn't support CEC, I don't think any of these cheap Android boxes do. I got a T95 box and that doesn't have CEC. But I remote control it with the IR blaster in my Huawei phone, and that can remote control the TV as well, including OFF and ON.

Well, a regular phone has a rectangular button that sticks out rather than being concave. I don't why this one isn't convex. Other Moto G Stylus models have the normal kind. I suppose it's moot now because the crazy thing seems to have fixed itself.

What android box do you have?

I have a strange issue with an H96 Max X3
When the box is powered off, using the power button on the remote, the clock display goes dark.
However, after a time the clock will go back on then off repeatedly by itself
Has anyone seen this ?

FYI the phone's back is very firmly glued in place. That's why you need the correct tools and methods to disassemble it without damaging anything.

Is there a competent phone tech in your area? The sort of place that might do battery and screen replacement work. Maybe they can disassemble the phone and retrieve your SIM?

live tv of cnn will not happen unless you have something like directv or other cable companies that allow you to stream live broadcasts via there apps. i have a sirius subscription and i can get live audio of cnn broadcasts.

but like i said you should be able to get tunein to play cnn.....you just can't do it verbally.

There are at least nine more I could name but won't just in the US.
