Help Unexplainable Storage

I would ditch the social media apps, and just use my browser for them.
Set a bookmark for each one.
As long as you don't clear cookies, you will stay logged in.

This should save you a great deal of space, as you can now uninstall these apps.

Next, open your file manager, and select DCIM.
Show hidden files, and look for .thumbnails.

If you take or download a lot of pics and videos, this .thumbnails can become huge!

It is preventable, but you may have to change your gallery app.

First, see how big it is and let me know.
If it is being a pig, then I will tell you how to solve that.

Is It Possible to Retrieve Data After Factory Reset

Well this is unfortunately an after-the-fact suggestion but when you were having a problem getting that LG phone to mount on your PC that's often due to no LG driver. You can go here, scroll down and click on the 'See More' link in the 'LG Mobile Drivers' section to obtain the Windows or Mac installer.
As for a backup/restore utility, you might want to try using LG's Bridge utility:
https://www.androidcentral.com/how-use-lg-bridge-your-lg-phone

It's important to avoid this in the future and you've just given me the know how.

Thanks!

need advice please!!

Some devices have Android System Webview disabled.

Devices like this use Chrome instead, to do the same thing.

To enable Android System Webview, Chrome must be disabled, or sometimes the webview can be changed within the developer settings.

Some devices allow this, some do not.

Onwards to something else.

I can't say for sure, but it seems as though he may have another device, and the one you went through is a possible clone of yours.

The idea that the device says 'unknown' for the phone number is odd.
The only devices that I have seen that on are ones that I only use on Wi-Fi.
These are not on any cellular network, and so do not have any phone numbers.

When you have access to his device again, turn off the Wi-Fi on it, call it and see if it rings.
Notice what number comes up on the caller ID. Is it correct?
If he is pretty sly, he could have his mobile number forward calls to it.

Are you positive that his device is a totally different model of phone as yours, yet the model number is the same as yours?
This is incredibly odd, if it is so.

Another oddity is the fact that all of the apps are the same as well.
All of them?
Games and other crap like that?

As I am no expert in things like this, I am asking questions to verify what you have stated.
I try to keep things in life as simple as possible.

At this point, I might consider just getting another device, and setting a lock on it to keep him out.

If you want to continue playing the game, then I would do a few things to my own device.
This could be fun, just to see what happens.
(Yes, I am known to be entertained in unconventional ways, lol.)

First, I would install a firewall onto my device.
This will allow you to control what apps can link to the internet, and if they can use Wi-Fi, mobile data, or both.

There are many available, but there are a few that I have experience with and so will be recommending those.

There are three that I like, and they are at three levels of expertise, or difficulty, if you will.

All do the basic function of limiting internet access.

Easy:
NoRoot Firewall

https://noroot-firewall.en.uptodown.com/android

Medium:
NetGuard

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/eu.faircode.netguard/

Hard:
Tracker Control

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.kollnig.missioncontrol.fdroid/

Personally, I use NoRoot Firewall most often.
It is so simple, and uses very little battery.
It is a great way to enter the firewall world, so I would advise to try it first.

Many apps on an Android device are interconnected- meaning that they need one another to work.
This means that you can make part or all of your device (temporarily) non-functional by blocking cellular or Wi-Fi access to certain apps, because they can be part of a slew of other apps.
To compound this issue, it is difficult to figure out what apps are connected to others.

NoRoot Firewall does this for you, by grouping interconnected apps together.

NetGuard does this is in a different way, generally by unrestricting apps that are required for other apps to work, but not letting you know directly.

Tracker Control does not let you know at all.

Start with NoRoot, and block apps that do not need internet or mobile access.

Also, go to

Settings
Apps
(show all)
(show system)

and scroll all the way to the bottom of the list.

Check for any app that has no name or no icon, but is still there taking up space.

All legitimate apps have some sort of icon.
If you find one that does not, you can bet that it is malware of some sort.

The lack of a name or icon will make the app not appear in your app drawer, or other apps that can give you a list of apps on your phone.

If there is such a thing there, then select it, and then tap
Storage
Clear cache
Clear data
(back out to the app's page)
Uninstall

Help Partition Problem

Hey all im new to the site.

I can partition a HDD, SSD or SD Card 12 ways to Monday on a windows platform with my eyes closed while asleep.
But dont have access to a windows computer or a windows device. I have an SM-T860 running Android 11-R armarch-64bit Qualcom octi core, 6GB and 128 GB Internal Storage. The device is not rooted, if it were I could take care of this myself. I cant root without the backup and i cant backup without root (anyone seeing circles)

Anyway

I have a Micro SDXC 1TB card installed in the Tablet and the idea is to keep 512gb for backup, 128 for linux mint to emulate windows, 128 for linux (or other similer distro) to emulate a VLE of some sort and 256gb for storage.
Im hoping by running this of the sd card it will keep the android system isolated and protected if i muck things up to much.

I have an adaptor for the Micro sd card and a PS3, I am planning on putting home brew on the ps3 using the adaptor.
I know a PS3 can format an SD card but I dont know if it can partition an SD card.

I have no other game consoles or devices that might do the trick.

If anyone knows a way to partition the SD card that is similer to Storage Manager in windows 10 or maybe a live web vershion of a similer utility please post.
Thankyou.

Just to add the Micro SDXC 1TB card is a 128 bit/s A1 Sandisk card if that helps

Help Native File Picker could not get Android root

Keep in mind you're trying to do a one-to-one comparison of two very different phones (different models from different manufacturers running different versions of the Android operating system). Both phones are running Android but the changes from 7 to 11 are not just for superficial user interface matters, there's also been a lot of evolving changes in the basic file structure running at a system-level underneath (or 'devolving' depending on your viewpoint).
Regarding '...native file picker' you might instead want to install the same file manager app on both phones so you can at least be using the same visual process to view your files/folders. i'll suggest trying the Ghost Commander app, it's Open Source and no ads but most importantly for this particular situation it's a file manager this already includes Storage Access Framework support, which might be helpful in viewing otherwise restricted directories (...note there's distinction between being to at least view the contents of some folders but, unless you root your device, be able to also edit/alter/delete).

Help "Notification sound" list doesn't play the sounds when they're selected

have you tried rebooting the phone?

Of course. You can't wipe the cache partition without rebooting to recovery.

did this just start happening? or has this been an on going issue? was it after an update?

As I said, I'm setting up a new phone. This didn't "start" happening after working, that's how it is as I'm trying to get it configured. It came with Pie and I installed some security update and the upgrade to Android 10. I have no idea how it was before that, I installed the updates before I started configuring anything.

Apps Getting Black application screen while connecting Bluetooth Dongle on Lenovo Tablet

I am trying to connect USB dongle to my Lenovo TB-X505F that time my application showing black screen and also observed that the MainActivity also getting restarted. I add possible configuration changes in the Android Manifest still getting the same problem.

<activity android:configChanges="orientation|uiMode|screenLayout|screenSize|smallestScreenSize|layoutDirection|locale|fontScale|keyboard|keyboardHidden|navigation|mcc|mnc|density"
android:name="org.qtproject.qt5.android.bindings.QtActivity"
android:label="calqlatr"
android:screenOrientation="unspecified"
android:launchMode="singleTop">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN"/>
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER"/>
</intent-filter>

How would someone have scanned my phone number?

Me neither. Android apps aren't able to see the phone number of the device they're installed on without being granted explicit permission to do so. And your phone doesn't broadcast your phone number in any way - Bluetooth and Wifi IDs, sure, but not phone number. It's not possible for an Android app to determine the phone number of a nearby phone.

Any chance this guy might have been a magician?

Starting to wonder the same thing myself.
