Who got 11?

As I suspected, all I see on my head unit is a USB error when I unplug my phone. No wireless Android Auto for this boy.

Wireless Android Auto has been available on Pixel phones for about two years now. Android 11 makes it available on other phones (once they get 11), but you still need a head unit which specifically supports wireless Android Auto - or that clever dongle that's doing the crowdfunding thing.

Not surprised, but really hoped it was otherwise, lol. Article i read said 'one of the 500 models it is available on' and there is NO way 500 cars have *wireless* AA. So yea, that was a bit misleading.

how to keep apps running

Is your phone plugged into a charger while you do this?

If so, you can use a setting in the developers options (stay awake) that will keep the screen on (and the device active) while the phone is charging.
Keeping the device awake will keep the app(s) active.

The cool thing about this is that you can then turn the screen off, but the phone will still stay awake with the screen off.

I have a couple of ways to turn the screen off for when I am doing similar to what you want to do, but don't need/want the screen to be on- just having the sound on and having the device stay active so that the app(s) don't close.

Gb whatsapp updated recovery

Do you have a backup of your messages from before you updated the app? If so, have you tried restoring it?
Have you tried installing the older version instead?

Unfortunately I don't use unofficial WhatsApp mods so have no experience their features, limitations or problems. Those are just the first things that come to mind to try.

I would certainly make sure that you have a copy of your message backup somewhere safe before doing anything else (I'm assuming that GB WhatsApp behaves like the official WhatsApp and keeps the 7 most recent daily backups on your phone automatically). That way whatever else happens you have a copy of those messages.

P.S. If that's a phone number it's generally a very bad idea to post those in public places on the web. I'd remove that if I were you.

Can an app installer depend on the presence of another app?

Hi Jim,

No, I don't think that's possible. It would be a pretty big security issue if Play Store-vetted apps could arbitrarily install other apps.

What you can do is check for the presence of that other app when your app is launched, and direct the user to the Play Store to install it. Something like this code fragment should work: https://medium.com/@imstudio/android-check-if-application-is-installed-3f39560efca3

(I think. I'm not actually a developer. :batdroid:)

Best cleaner for android

I am wondering what you guys use to clean your android phone? I have the free version of SDMaid and CCleaner, but CCleaner is very bloated now, but it cleans more than the Pro version of SDMaid... so are there any other cleaners you prefer?

I know most of you will say none, but I'm very OCD with my files directories like empty folders, cache, hidden cache, and other useless folders/files taking up space.

I created a lengthy video on what I have installed and certain maintenance tasks I do on a regular basis.
If you don't mind, please watch it and give me your honest opinions on what I'm doing right and wrong.
Thanks!

you can view the video in your browser preferably on full screen.

What they said. And don't "clean" RAM, it just slows down your phone.

How to simulate gyroscope on devices that don't have a gyroscope?

Do you enjoy coding more than playing games? I assume this thing responds to how much/how quickly you tilt the phone rather than just "left or right", so even if you can code something that runs in the background and translates your keyboard input or whatever into accelerometer events I expect it will take a lot of work tuning it and still produce a jerky or over-responsive/under-responsive/both-at-different-times result. Hacking the game will bring the further complication that you don't have the source code.

Unless you are time-rich but cash-poor and enjoy doing this type of thing a simpler solution is probably to just play it on a phone. Maybe you can cast it from a phone to the TV box (I've never bothered with casting from a phone to TV so don't know)?
