As an aside, I discovered yesterday on their site that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, and maybe higher devices, has 150 selectable vibration types for notifications etc.
I wonder how useful that is in practice, but a novel idea when it's in a pocket or on a desk.

To be honest, if your phone is entering random characters by itself and, if after shutting down you can reboot into recovery briefly but then it begins misbehaving again, it sounds like a heat related hardware failure. Perhaps the battery is swelling and putting pressure on the back of the screen? It's a guess but it would explain what's happening. It really doesn't sound like anything software would fix.

Reading those articles I have to say that anyone should be suspicious if a banking app asked them to re-enter personal information. But I guess many people would not be.

How many times over the years have I tried to access the files on my MotoG5Plus with my windoze computer, but failed. I only got as far as the phone appearing in Explorer, but the files were never displayed; zero.

I have a lot of old google accounts that I created before creating accounts required giving birth certificate, bank account numbers, etc. Some confusion with Google deciding which account it will open with which application, so I always tended to avoid Drive. Only recently started experimenting with it. I also need to google "archiving" to see what the phone is offering, but I haven't archived anything yet.

But I just noticed the phone is down to 5 GB free out of 26 GB total. So I better offload some folders before there's too much trouble. I'm on a WhatsApp group that includes a couple of new parents that create GB's of photos and movies of their baby every week. Just emptying the WhatsApp folder from the phone should free up most of the space.

Probably not urgent any more, since it's just a few days short of 9 years since the last post. But also 3g watchdog stopped working on my phone some time ago (either with the Android 10 update or one of the later monthlies, but probably A10), and hadn't been updated for years, so the problem is probably solving itself by now anyway...

It's very difficult to work out causes remotely, especially if all you really know is that it doesn't work.

If this is a HTC widget it won't work on a third-party launcher anyway. But you might have to try a third-party widget in place of it, because I doubt there's much more can be done here: you've already done a factory reset, so all that would be left would be reflashing the phone (which will only help if the problem is that somehow the system software has become corrupted - if it's something else then reflashing is unlikely to change anything).

Yes, it is set up as a messaging app- but on e-mail.

You can use it as an e-mail app.

A bonus is the dark theme available for use.

Keep in mind that there is probably a setting somewhere in your e-mail account to allow access to your account by third party apps.
(So that apps not from the e-mail provider can access your account.)

This alone could be your issue, or one of them.

The other option is to just use the browser on your device.

AT&T will be of no/little help, because they are the phone company, not the developer of whatever app you are using or whoever is running your e-mail system.

To actually contact the right folks, you need to get into your account and the settings, then look for 'About'.

Here is where you usually find contact information.

Often it will just be an e-mail address.
