Phone switching off automatically while using.

Actually if you suspect a swollen battery I'd advise not charging it, as it's a potential fire hazard. I'd say "back up now", but if you've done a factory reset I guess you have a backup already.

The last time I encountered a swollen battery was an old iPhone 5 that some friends were planning to give to a relative, except that the front panel had started to come off. Since it was pushing up on the side the battery was under the diagnosis was clear. Fortunately that particular phone was also very easy to dismantle and swap the battery - I suspect that some modern designs that use a lot of adhesive might be more work..

Android saving contacts in local DB

So it's not whether Android allows that but whether Google's Play Store conditions allow that. As I've never submitted an app to them I've never had the need to go through their conditions in detail, so can't help with that.

Certainly apps can access the contacts data and write them out (backup apps do this), so I don't see that storing their own copy should be more of an issue. After all, they are the user's data, not Google's, so as long as you make clear what you are doing in advance I don't see rationally that it would be Google's problem (of course as a user I would like to know what you are doing with the data before I install the app or give you access, but that's true regardless). However what's reasonable and what's in the Play Store rules are not always the same thing, so I'd suggest reading in detail.

Help Rooting Vivo y81i and making adoptable storage (internal external sd card storage)

I also agree with @puppykickr :)

A custom recovery like TWRP and a .zip might enable adoptable storage. Out of curiosity, I flashed the .zip from the link below to my Samsung and it added a setting to choose adoptable storage.
I personally preferred the old "Link2Sd" and "App2SD" apk root method of partitioning the external SD. It was much more versatile than choosing all internal or all external.

Setting primary contact phone number.

if you are rooted, look into using titanium backup (i would highly recommend spending the money on the pro version). also what phone do you have? some phones like samsung has a great utility that will backup and restore things like your contacts. but any snapdragon sammy is virtually hard to root.

I have TB Pro and I'm rooted. I'm NOT looking for a contacts backup as my 'contacts database' is on my PC. I am merely wanting a method to set the primary contact number and to save that through rom installs or any other event where I lose my android contacts.

Google Play Music SHUTTING DOWN This Year

It's the sort of difference that makes me wonder which countries are really so insecure that they have to airbrush a photo outof an album cover? Whether this is China or the USA doing it it is not a sign of strength.

Seems like some people are bent on erasing history instead of working toward a better future.

They are not smart.

When you don't learn from history, it repeats itself.

When you erase history, you don't have any history to learn from.

Help Volume Control Error

I have a lightweight, excellent sounding headset with a boom mic.

I had been using it in my studio, where it works fine.

I couldn't use the boom mic because it has a TRRS plug on the end.

So when I got my first smartphone, I went ahead and bought a nice big set for the studio, and wanted to use the lightweight set for the phone.

Well, at first it seemed fine.
Great sound, and comfortable for long wear.

But after a few songs, the volume started doing exactly what you described.

After checking out the cord, plug, and inline volume control, I was stumped.

Then I tried wiggling the cord and jack where it plugs in.

Bingo.

Now, this set had never had an issue when plugged into anything before.

So, the plug or the jack could be a bit outsize (or both), or the speakers could be an impeadence that is just not very compatible- so much so that by adding/subtracting a few Ohms here or there could cause a device to freak out.

So, anyway, I wound up using the big heavy things with my phone.

There is a built in mic, in the cord, and they sound amazing in a call or for music.

They do squeeze my skull after a while, because I wear glasses.

But anyway, glad to have passed along the info of what it seems to be.

Do you think Google will learn from their mistakes for the Pixel 5?

Proud owner of the 1, the 2, and was deciding between the 4 or the 3a and went with the 4. No complaints other than the price tag. Love the camera, the screens great, and the battery life is plenty good enough since I work at home.

I'd prefer a fingerprint reader, and would love to have the headphone jack back, but I've learned to adapt.

Honestly, I care way less about things like storage, RAM, or having absolutely the fastest processer than I used to. If my post frequency is any indication, my phone is simply a phone. I want something silky smooth, bloat free, with blazing fast updates, and the closest I'm going to get to that is the Pixel. Frankly, it doesnt need the best parts under to hood to achieve that.

The pixel isnt the android enthusiast line that the nexus was. Its for the masses.

Help me with app icon

How about this ... point at her phone and say "Hey, I have the same icon!" and see how she reacts. If she's happy, then it means you are both shopping for each other on the same *cough* adult products *cough* website and you should be in for a wild weekend. If she's angry, then you've confirmed that she's up to something she'd never accept from you. If she's confused then you'll have to explain why you were posting a review of feminine hygiene products. ;)

Voicemail Notification & Alert Won't Leave

Solved - Was a case of M. A S. (Mysterious Android Stuff)
I go the alert to leave by deleting messages in what AT&T calls "The Archive".

When I listen to a message & wish to save it, I can press key pad 4 and the message is saved for a certain number of days. This can be done on the phone or via a different phone. It used to be OK to do this and no alerts of voicemail would arrive. I always have one or more in the "archive".

When the permanent alert problem drove me a little too crazy, I called voicemail and deleted the archived messages. Now the non-removable voicemail alert is gone.

I restarted the phone, left it a message & acknowledged the alert when it arrived on the phone. The alert was gone, as it should be.

Next, I called voicemail, listened to my message and then saved it in the archive. Later, I restarted my phone and the voicemail alert showed up. I could not get it to leave. I called voicemail and all that was there was the archived message.

So, this leads me to believe that it's a new AT&T thing, or a phone glitch, that causes a permanent notification if one has a message in the archive.
The odd part is one can swipe away a new voicemail message without listening to it ONLY if it is a new message.

Crazy, Crazy M . A. S.

Thanks again DannyDet and Puppykickr for helping. I really appreciate the time you took!
Enjoy This Day,
Paul
