Looking for new phone, criterias below, recommendations please

I'd go with what @Hadron suggested. She can pay a lot for something like a Panasonic N1 (very rugged build with only marginally acceptable hardware specs):
https://na.panasonic.com/us/computers-tablets-handhelds/handhelds/handhelds
or she can just get a good smartphone and really good case. Some rubberized cases are very effective, but they tend to add some bulk.

And I'm not a big proponent of smartphone extended warranties but in some situations they can be worth the added cost.
https://www.consumerreports.org/insurance/is-smartphone-insurance-worth-buying/

Given that listing of her wants and needs in her replacement phone, it's going to be a matter of paying more or making at least some compromises. Also, there's a lot of missing context -- What phone did she have previously? What kind of budgetary restrictions are there? That list itself is very subjective and generic. i.e. 'Space for photos' could be interpreted in many ways as we all have very widely sized photo libraries on our phones.
Anyway, there's no shortage of smartphone recommendation sites floating around online. Here's just a couple:
Wirecutter's 'Best' recommendations are just suggestions, the best part of the article is all the metrics they use to come up with their choices. Read through those sections, compare it to her phone needs, and make a better informed decision on what to buy.
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-android-phone/
GSMarena has a handy phone finder service where you enter your preferences and it will show a listing of the phone models in its database. Keep in mind depending on which country you live in they don't have a comprehensive catalog of every phone model available. But it's a good source for researching what's out there:
https://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3?
And don't forget, compatibility with her chosen carrier is a priority.

App Inventor how increase FD_SETSIZE or limit the descriptor amount raised by Android Emulator

I am new both as Android developer as posting a question in this forum.

It is my first Android project and I am getting a lot of warnnings with FD_SETSIZE issue when running my simple application throw emulator.

I guess the solution may be increase FD_SETSIZE but I didn't find where neither what exactly is the reason for such need.

My question was originally posted in https://stackoverflow.com/questions...e-descriptor-amount-raised-by-android-emulato and has some relationship with this question https://stackoverflow.com/questions...ntfor-error-fd-52396-above-fd-setsize-32768-b

Has anyone faced similar logs when emulating the app with Android Studio? Mine is the recent version 4.0.

TE6 update with camera focus fix rolls out Global/USA

Interesting... whilst we have seen some USA Galaxy S20 phones receive the TE6 update with the camera autofocus fix and other goodies on their SM-G98*U models, those who have the SM-G98*U1 models are today receiving the older, TE4, build. Early reports suggest that this build does not have the coveted camera autofocus fix, Close-up zoom (Ultra only), improved fingerprint unlocking, etc; but they have received the June 2020 Android security patch.

So, it would appear that there is a 2 tier update system on the USA models of Galaxy S20's depending on the model number.

I use Gmail and I do sync between my phone and several other devices.

Sorry for not replying sooner , but I'm not getting email notices of replies even though I select that option.

-- Are you syncing your phone's Contacts with your online email service, or keeping your phone's Contacts only on your phone?

Help I put my Xiaomi MI A1 without OS

Video Saving With Filter

Looking at that posted photos, I wouldn't describe that a 'grey filter' but more of a lack of contrast. The dark parts aren't quite dark enough and the light parts not quite light enough. Keep in mind that's not necessarily a resolution issue, it's tied to color balance. Using lower resolution will result in a lack of sharpness (edges with a subtle blur) but the color and brightness are different aspects.

If you're using the default auto-detection in your Camera app, and if there's any option(s) in the Camera app Settings menu to set your own preferences and save that as your default, you might want to do some test shots while playing around with color balance/contrast settings until you find what you like. Don't rush this process as it's not that simple. Don't forget to view your adjusted photos in different places -- computers, other devices, etc. -- since your phone's display has its own color balance that will be different from other displays.

If you're using the default Camera app that came preinstalled with your phone and it doesn't have a lot of options for the user to manually adjust its settings you might want to try using a third-party camera app. I really like the Open Camera app, it's an Open Source project with good developmental support, no ads, and pertaining to this situation, has a very extensive settings menu that allows you to optimize the camera app to your particular needs.

App to set system date and time and then call an app?

Is there any such thing available?

Long story short: I have a backgammon app that I am sure is cheating - the developer has hidden the dice rolling routine behind ProGuard so I can't be sure.

He claims the app uses the system date and time to set the random number generator seed and then everything runs from there.

So I'd like to reset the system date and time and then call the backgammon program.......that way, I can see if the dice rolls are the same each time (they won't be I'm sure).

Any advice appreciated!

Update ruined phone (playlists especially)

Hi. My phone a Nokia 2.2 decided to update a couple of weeks ago. After the reboot I can't use lots of features. My main bug is the playlists. I use a number of apps for music. Phonograph, playlist creator, Playlist backup etc... but none of them will work now. The problem that's happening is that I can no longer add to my playlists. I can delete items from the existing ones but not add to them. I'm a musician and work on several pieces every day and then tend to live with them for a couple of days on my phone before deciding how to finalise the mixes. Since this update this is impossible. Since the initial update I've updated again but still have the same problem. I tend to add to the playist in playlist creator then back up to text via playlist backup then copy the text file to my laptop for editing before returning it.. None of the programs will run now. I've tried several media players and encountered the same problem on all of them.
Other programs have also been affected as Outlook no longer gives me notifications although, after doing a full phone reset to try and solve this issue Outlook now occasionally sends me a notification but it used to notify me every time I received an email and now it's only once in a while.
If there is no solution to this then does anyone know how I can roll back the updates as , if I can't use the phone like I want to , then what's the point?
