Casio C811 Discontinued by NEC Casio and Verizon

As long as mine continues to be usable I will continue to use it. I see on here that some are having problems, thankfully I'm not yet. After the last update I don't want another because it is seeming to follow the path of the other Commando where each update made the phone worse. Its a great time for the updates to end. I have a KitKat tablet and I don't see where it's any great improvement. I do not like the pastel color scheme of lollypop and I have removed all the updated apps that supported it. The new calendar is a mess and I am running a blacked out one I downloaded a year or more ago that works well and looks good.

If you want to switch to a new phone you could download the Gz'GEAR stuff on your new phone.

Help Need a full list of AA - Google Voice commands

How hard is that. Apparently too difficult for a multi-bazillion dollar company "google" to produce a user guide or even a simple list. Anybody know of a reasonably comprehensive list?
This provides Google voice commands - https://ok-google.io/
but I was looking for only Android Auto-specific list of voice commands. Anybody ever find such
a thing that lots of people want and nobody apparently can find?
Sorry for the sarcasm, but it just baffles me.

I have to turn wifi on & off. Help.

Do you know what band you're using, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?

Once you have connected to the router/hub go to where it gives you the SSID and below it 'Connected', tap on it and it should give you a menu. You should see 'Signal strength' then 'Frequency'. The problem nowadays is there is no guarantee that devices follow a pattern, so not all devices show the same info in the same places!!

Generally speaking the further away from the router you are the 2.4Ghz band is the better one to use because it is attenuated less due to walls etc. so this could be the problem.

The bands could be selected manually a while ago but it seems to be automatic these days and it depends whether your router/hub is using both. It is, or should be, possible to have a separate SSID for each band if necessary then you can select it when you connect.

I do get problems with signal 'poor' and 'fair' and like to see 'good' or 'excellent'.

Help Galaxy S5

Thank you all for your input. I'm sorry that I didn't mention that I rooted my phone years ago. I'm very concerned with privacy and security so I think mikedt probably hit the nail on the head. I do use adaway and I only get apps from the playstore. Would love to update this ROM. I like this phone and when I check out the new phone prices I like my phone even more.:)

Thank you again, Tom
if you are concerned about privacy and security then you should not have rooted your phone. in essence you removed any security your phone has. it is easier for somebody to grab your phone and download something that could gain admin rights very easily. as long as you are careful you should be fine, but i would keep a very close eye on your phone at all times. i would add two step verification on all accounts where applicable.

but yeah, if that is the case, it could definitely be something like @mikedt mentioned.

How hard would it be to develop an app like this?

Hello everyone,

Since I know nothing about app development, I would like to have some feedback from you about this app idea that I have so I can assess how realistic the project would be. It would be used on smart campus to assess the thermal comfort of building occupants.

The app would be a participatory sensing framework developed to collect, analyze and report user assessments of thermal preference at the campus scale with room-level spatial resolution. Users report thermal feedback (is it comfortable? Is it too warm? Or too cold? Users could also write specific comments if they want). When installing the app, they can also report basic demographic factors (age group, gender…), but it is not required to do so to use the app. I would like to have some sort of randomly generated identifier to preserve the anonymity of each user. Thermal feedback would be stored on a secure server where data can be analyzed by a smart controller or by facility analysts. If possible, the app could track users to see in which room they are when sending a feedback. If it is not possible, then the other solution would be to ask users to add info regarding their location (building name, room #) when they are sending a feedback. Ideally, the app could also communicate information to users (something like “It is cold outside, make sure to close windows!”) that can send notifications in the users’ cellphone (if enabled).

How hard would it be to code an app like this? As I said, I know nothing on app development, but would be willing to hire an undergraduate intern from computer science programs to do most of the work. How long do you think it would take? Is it a matter of weeks, months? If I don’t hire anyone, how long would it takes for a complete beginner to do something like this?

From what I’ve just read, Android Studio seems to be the program to use, is that correct?

Any other recommendation?

Thanks for your answers.

Help identify app with M icon notification

we get this question everyday. finding notofication icons that belongs to a certain app is like finding a needle in the haystack (i need to find a better example to use cuz i keep using it). there millions of apps that uses notification icons. unless it is something well known, it will be only guesses on our part. the only way to know what it is is to look into the phone. in most cases, however, the phone in question is not accessible.

i hope you find the answer.....good luck

Help How to send email

I hate when programs aren't intuitive but depend on understanding symbols with no captions explaining the symbols. I've had this phone over two years but never used it for email, just texting. I was setting up email for someone else with no idea how to do it. Usually you just follow prompts but this had me stumped. Thanks again.
this is why this awesome forum exists. i'm glad we can help you out. please feel free to come here and ask more questions. we are here to help;)

Help Anything in Android that can change the active area mapping of my OTG tablet?

I have a OP6 and I found an XP-Pen drawing tablet that I can use with Android via an OTG adapter.

It works, but the problem is, the active area is a 16:9 ratio, while the OP6 is 19:9. So anything I draw on the tablet ends up a little squished or stretched.

I was wondering if there's an Android utility that can alter how much of the tablet can be used at one time, and fit it into a 19:9 ratio probably, with a margin of the active area disabled.

Or if there's something that will change the aspect ratio to 16:9 via software.

Apps Publish an Android app on behalf of a customer?

Hi all.
As a software developer, I develop a white label app that is then branded for my client.

Is it possible to publish the app on behalf of my client so it's under their Google PlayStore account? Will this allow them to respond to customer reviews on the PlayStore?

If it's possible, I believe the client requires to have a google account, but what type of an account and I how can I push the build from my dev account to their account so the client can publish it?

MySMS snafu

That's what it says. Maybe I can post a picture. Sometimes that works.
read this post:
Same problem on two Verizon phones after automatic update of Verizon's integrated messinging app. One phone kept giving me the following error.

"We were unable to connect your device to synchronize with Verizon Integrated Messaging service. You can attempt to reconnect your device to Verizon Integrated Messaging through the Settings menu of the application. "

The other phone kept crashing the messaging app when I tried opening it.

This worked for me.... Go into apps. Find messager+ or text messaging app. Uninstall updates to the app to go back to the factory version of the app. Once updates are uninstalled, open your messenger app and go through the initial set-up. Then update the messenger app through the play store.
