DESCRIPTION
Summary

This resizable weather widget (and interactive app) provides a detailed and visually appealing weather forecast, allowing you very quickly to understand what to expect when you venture outdoors. The graphical format is commonly referred to as a 'meteogram'.

You can choose to display as little or as much information as you like, or you can set up multiple widgets showing different information (optionally for different places) in different widgets.

You can plot common weather parameters like temperature, wind speed and pressure, as well as tide charts, UV Index, wave height, moon phase, sunrise and sunset times, and much much more!

You can even display government-issued weather alerts in the header: those from National Weather Service (US), Environment Canada, and MeteoAlarm (Europe).

The content and style of the meteogram is extremely configurable... with over 1000 options to set, your imagination is the limit!

The widget is also fully resizable, so make it however small or large you like on your home screen! And the interactive app is just a click away, direct from the widget.

Furthermore, you can choose where your weather data comes from: the Norwegian Met Office (Meteorologisk Institutt), the German Met Office (Deutscher Wetterdienst or DWD), the Swedish Met Office (SMHI), the UK Met Office, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), or from several other weather forecast services (for example MeteoGroup and AccuWeather).

We recommend that you give it a go and explore the wealth of weather, marine and astronomical information available!

Upgrade to Platinum

In addition to the great features available in the free version, an in-app platinum upgrade is available which will give you the following extra benefits:

Explanation of app permissions

The permission relating to "access to the device's storage" is only to enable the (very useful) feature which allows your settings to be backed up to a file, so that they can later be loaded back (or shared with others). Note that, from Android 6, this permission anyway needs to be granted at runtime, so if you never grant this permission when it is requested, the app will never have access to your device's storage.

Similarly, regarding the permission for the "device's location", this is only needed when you enable the "detect and follow location" feature, where the meteogram is always generated for your current location. Again, if you don't need this feature, then you don't ever need to grant this permission, and the app will never know your location.

The "draw over other apps" permission is only needed for technical reasons when local chart generation is enabled. By default, this is not enabled, so the permission is never needed. Furthermore, nothing is ever actually drawn over other apps.

Android Do Not Disturb Ineffective !

I don't have this issue with my 8.1.0, and I always have Priority Only on.
It stays on even after a restart/reboot.

See if that works better for you.

Also, depending on your device, there is a System UI Tuner setting that allows for apps to have 5 levels of notification, rather than only on or off.

Be aware that each edition of Android has a different System Tunuer UI.

From your homescreen, pull down the quick setttings menu by a swipe from the top downward.

Find the little settings 'pinwheel' and touch and hold it for about 10 seconds, until it animates (spins).
You may get a notification that the System UI Tuner has been unlocked.

Now go back to the homescreen and enter Settings.
Scroll down towards the bottom and you will find System UI Tuner.
Inside there, you may find Power Notification Control.

If this is turned on, when you set notifications for an app there will be 5 choices of intensity, and at least one will allow the app notification to override Do Not Disturb (level 5).

Usually a setting of 1 or 2 gives me the peace that I crave.

Your other option is to mute the device when total silence is desired.
Most devices tie the notification and ring volumes together partially, if not totally- so try turning your ringer volume all the way down.

Of course, then you must remember to turn it back up again to hear it ring.

Perhaps there is a simple app that can help more.
This one works well on my 8.1.0 as it allows individual volume types to be scheduled for the desired settings at specific times.

Accessories Ideas on development office setup

Hi,
I'm looking for ideas for my workstation office setup. I've posted pictures of both of my offices below. I have two computers (both laptops) that need to be repaired before I can use them. I would install Linux on both of them. I also have an android tablet that I pretty much inherited when I moved in to this location. It's not pictured in here but I was thinking that I could have an office desk mount for the tablet to use the tablet as a second display. Note that there is room for one more desktop computer and I posted an ad on craigslist for another donated computer. Both of these computers are in two different rooms. I'm looking for ideas on how to improve these setups/workstations for development. And yes I already know that the shop area needs to be cleaned. The last two pictures are an idea of the setups that I'm trying to get:

This is what I'm trying to get the shop area to look similar to.

Unwanted talking text messages

Since I really don't use "Messages". It's the default app that came with the phone. I've never changed the settings for "Messages" unless it was by accident.

I saw on google where I could turn off Talkback, but it appears that would affect the other talkback features I listed in my post that I want to retain. I get bad weather notifications that also talk back if the phone is on standby and charging. I don't mind getting the notifications, I just don't want it blaring out when I'm watching TV.

Android APK App Shorcuts

Did you install that file on your phone after downloading it? Unlike Google Play, the apk file won't be automatically installed on your device. You have to manually install it. I've downloaded and then installed Dead Trigger 3 APK from apktovi, and found that the shortcut of this app still shows up on my homescreen. If you haven't installed it yet, try to find the downloaded file on your file manager.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Pay.

I have now found out that Samsung Pay is compatible with my UK Bank.

I have (apparently) successfully set up Samsung Pay on my Galaxy S8 phone, though I have jet to try it out.

The problem I now have is this....

Before the installation of Samsung Pay swiping up on the screen brought up all the apps on the phone

After the installation of Samsung Pay swiping up on the screen now opens Samsung Pay.

My question is this...how do I access the list of apps on the phone?

Black Display when using a mouse

I connected a Microsoft mouse to my Huawei MediaPad M5 lite using an OTG cable. Everything works well, except for one thing that I can't figure out: when I start a video on Netflix or Amazon Prime, the screen goes black, but film and sound continue to run in the background. When I then touch the display with my finger, the image reappears, when I move the mouse it disappears. Youtube and VLC player work perfectly. When I open Twitter everything is normal, as soon as I scroll a bit with the mouse there is a kind of gray veil over the image that disappears when you touch the display with your finger. I've already connected a Logitech mouse, but the result was the same.
Does anyone have an idea why this might be ?
Thanks in advance !

How to save PRO/RAW mode in Samsung S10e camera app?

Thank you. This is about the 5th camera app I have tried, and YES it works!
Filmic Pro and Camera FV5 are no good on the S10e.
Enabling RAW took a bit of time finding but with help from this
https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/help.html#raw
I did eventually work it out.
The focus also seems to work, which was always a problem with 3rd party camera apps on the S6 onwards, IME, due to the crippled Samsung public API.
I just need a basic RAW camera (with exposure control) because the rest is done in Lightroom. The 12MP sensor appears to be same as S7, S9, etc and the results from RAW are very good.

Failing system Software update and phone is not starting

Hi, My phone is restarting again and again. Repeatedly it is showing alternately samsung logo and system software update logo. But neither i can switch it off nor switch it on. And this is happening since 8hrs. When I tried pressing different keys like vol+Home+power one warning came for custom OS download. When I clicked continue it was just showing downloading for 3hrs. When I again tried keys and cancelled it, flashing of previous two logos started again. I don't mind if it gets reset. I tried everything with charging or without though having powerful internet conmection. But nothing is working.

Resetting My Voicemail?

Called my AT&T store and they said due to the virus, company stores are shut down. He told me to access my voice mail to reset it to push and hold "1" on my phone, but after dialing, it said "This members Voicemail is not set up; Good-bye" and hung up on me. Strange because if I accessed it w/ my older (identical) S5 it worked fine and didn't ask for a password.

I tried using a procedure I found online at a AT&T site, and dialing the voicemail number manually, it let me set up my mailbox (which was actually setup for 12 years w/ AT&T, but I wasn't about to argue), and I had to create a 7 to 12 number password now to get my voicemail, but at least it works!

Why I don't have a clue, but it's working as long as I enter the numerical password I set up.

Galaxy S9 making random notifications

hmmm nice app. i'm gonna have to give that a spin thanx
You're welcome! :)

It's very handy, and much nicer than some other ways of getting the same end result. For example, you can set your own limit for how many alerts to keep--a lot or a little, it's up to you. Other methods just arbitrarily scroll off after a very small number of alerts. You can select what types of alerts to ignore, such as recurring system calls that you generally wouldn't care about, and so on.

The best part is that you can go back to a notification you wanted to follow again, or when your swiping hand is a little too quick on the trigger, and you dismiss an alert you really should've pressed! :D

Tesla Navigation Shortcut

I can't test this, but the first thing that came to mind is to use Tasker.
i'm not sure if taskers can do that, but it might be possible.

you would think that door dash would have something like that built in to their app for those that deliver for door dash.

and i just want to give a shout out to you and show my appreciation. Folks like you who are feeding people during the pandemic are amazing. you are risking you and your family's health to feed others is very commendable. i understand like everyone you need a paycheck, but to still go out is risky right now......so thank you.
