Help best way to recover data off broken phones?

Unfortunately any post asking about recovering data attracts pushing various "data recovery tools". If you look at the account you usually find that the person either had only made one post or that all of their posts are saying the same thing. I've yet to see independent evidence of any of these things working.

Can you see the screen on phone 3? If so then as long as it supports USB OTG you can plug a mouse into an OTG adapter and use that to control the phone. Then you can back the photos up in several ways: email to yourself, upload to your favourite cloud service, or just unlock it, set the default USB connection method to file transfer or MTP (should be an option in Developer Options menu - click repeatedly on the "build number" in the software information to enable that menu) then unplug the OTG adapter, plug in a USB cable and copy over USB to a computer. Or even pair a bluetooth mouse then use that, freeing up the USB socket.

Phone 2 is probably a lost cause, but can you describe exactly what happens if you try to boot it up?

Phone 1 you might be able to get data off if you could see anything. Do you know whether it supports any form of wired screen mirroring (USB-C to HDMI or maybe MHL)? If it does then you can mirror the display to a TV to see what it's doing, then if touch works you can control it and set up some sort of cloud backup or WiFi transfer. If touch isn't working that's more difficult: I have recovered data from a phone in that state, but unlocking the phone and backing stuff up when having to swap between MHL (so I could see where I was) and MHL (so I could use a keyboard or mouse to control it) took a lot of patience. Once I got a bluetooth mouse paired with it it became a lot easier. If it's just the screen then repair is an option, provided you can ensure that the repairer doesn't factory reset the phone (official service centres often do that as a matter of procedure, but it obviously defeats the point here).

CoreIRC - a modern IRC client with DCC file transfers

CoreIRC is a chat client I decided to build due to not being satisfied with the options available on the Play Store. It features a modern design with the ability to be connected to multiple SSL or regular connections simultaneously, and receiving files over DCC.

CoreIRC also implements quite a number of IRCv3 features including SASL authentication through any of the Plain, External or SCRAM-SHA-256 mechanisms, and the following IRCv3 specs: cap-notify, account-notify, away-notify, chghost, echo-message, extended-join, invite-notify, multi-prefix and userhost-in-names. Support for more specifications will be added in the feature, with the ultimate goal being implementation of the full set of IRCv3 specs.

Here is a comprehensive list of features available.
<ul style='margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;'>
<li dir='ltr'> Background connectivity</li>
<li dir='ltr'> Command autocomplete</li>
<li dir='ltr'> Channel list</li>
<li dir='ltr'> Chat message storage</li>
<li dir='ltr'> CTCP ACTION, CLIENTINFO, DCC, FINGER, PING, TIME and VERSION</li>
<li dir='ltr'> DCC (for receiving files)</li>
<li dir='ltr'> Ignore lists</li>
<li dir='ltr'> IRCv3 CAP 302, cap-notify, and SASL authentication</li>
<li dir='ltr'> IRCv3.1 account-notify, away-notify, extended-join, multi-prefix</li>

<li dir='ltr'> Raw commands using /quote</li>
<li dir='ltr'> Robust notification rule sets (for each configured network)</li>
<li dir='ltr'> SSL support</li>

CoreIRC is currently available from the Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.aureolin.coreirc.

HCE random deactivation

Hello, I'm working on an HCE application being used with a TRF7970A RFID reader. The HostApduService gets deactivated when the link between the Android phone and the NFC reader is broken or when another HCE service is selected by the NFC reader. My service keeps deactivating randomly, with the two rules mentioned above unviolated.

Didn't find class "java.nio.file.Paths"

I recently update my app and when I run again I got the error java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Didn't find class "java.nio.file.Paths" this is an extract of my build.gradle file:

android {
compileSdkVersion 28
defaultConfig {
applicationId "xxx.xxxxx.xxxx"
minSdkVersion 21
targetSdkVersion 28
versionCode 12
versionName "9.1.0"
testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
}

the error is when I try to create a file with:

File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), filename)

Do not disturb allow apps

I've just discovered this annoyance too while attempting to set an exception for a critical notification that I want in all circumstances. How annoying. I have a couple that I'd set previously that don;t seem to actually work despite them still showing as priority exceptions.
Have you done the update to Oreo 8.1 from late 2018? I haven't because I was afraid of what it would break but if it reinstates the feature, I'd be willing to try it.

"Home" Setting

Thanks, svim. I called ZTE a few days ago and, as usual, the Technical Support guy was stumped but suggested a complete factory data reset! I said thanks anyway. If my money is right, I'll be buying a new android phone from Ebay, etc., so will leave this phone alone until I get it's data put on a new phone. I will try their support page, though. Thank you very much! Jeffrey Walker (PS: am I supposed to create a cool screen name? If so, how do I do that?

FAT32 & EXT4 Partitions For Android Internal Storage?

Thanks guys, I may have over complicated this myself. What about if I made two partitions (both FAT32), using one to store my Roms. Could I then use the second partition only as android internal storage?
you will need to gain root access to do this.....so unless your device can be rooted, nothing you want to achieve is possible.

USB-C to HDMI

With the Chromecast, I can send almost anything to my TV. Most video apps have the ability to send their movies to the Chromecast. If they don't, like IMDB (international movie data base), I can go into the phones Settings, Network, Screen Sharing. When I turn it on, my phone's screen is sent to my TV. You may be able to do the same with your cable but then you can't do anything else without interrupting the video. Your TV becomes your phone's screen so you can do exactly the same things you do without the cable. But just like your unconnected phone, when your phone rings, the video stops to answer your phone. Ok ok that's actually really cool when I get the internet at home I'll try that

Help URGENT** S health app

WoW, thats very
You were very right!, I thought my S Health was working "flawlessly"..as it turned out..it was not!..I thought it was because it was counting my steps fine..but I got inside and the blood pressure monitor allowed new just to "record" my measurements..NOT to actually measure the blood pressure by finger print scan..

I dag further(because that's my nature..ask Mr Javi..lol)..and I came out with a solution..

I changed my version again(you are only allowed to change it if you are rooted..and I know you are..you mentioned it)

This is the one that did the trick(exhibits1)

The one I thought was working fine I extracted from my former Note5..

And if you pay attention the one I just installed and I have previously extracted from my former S5 and its the one letting me use the red light finger print scanner..get that version and you will be good.

But here's the thing..even if you find this particular version(unfortunately it's against the Forum rules to share this type of files..other wise I gladly would send to your way) you can't just install on top of the current one you have..you have to delete the older one and port the new one..[/QUOT]

Thats pretty impressive my friend
