Apps not updating from playstore

The only 2 apps that ever game me this issue was facebook twice in the past year and now messenger now. Eventually the facebook apps updated, so hopefully the messenger will too. It's odd that it wants me to connect to wifi even though i have mobile data or wifi selected for updating apps. Thanks for you response.

Yes, a lot of that is being done. Also, there are tape lines/boxes on the floor showing people where to stand in some stores. At least one Starbucks has removed the furniture. Let's not forget those elevators with toothpicks or tissues for people to use on the buttons and then place in a container for disposal. There's even a case (at least one) of a tp roll being locked to the spindle. I just hope those jerks stealing masks and hand sanitizer from hospitals get caught and punished. I guess I'll finish for now with the guy, in Kentucky, I think, who checked himself out of the hospital against medical advice and apparently refused to stay home. It seems the state governor invoked some clause or other to send the police and make sure he stays at home. I wonder how much that's going to cost. At least it's not Florida man.

Notifications are no longer working / Duplicate notifications

Hey all,

Samsung S10+. Recently reset to factory. Almost all notifications (Gmail, outlook, hangouts, gvoice, Facebook, etc) do not notify. They all require manual opening and refresh.

Right now only Google messages (sms) appears to work OK.

- Battery mode is set to high performance.
- Have removed sleep settings/optimize battery on all primary apps
- DND is not on (set for night)
- Sync is enabled
- No apps managing battery/sleep
- Wiped cache partition

Also every now and then, I get flooded with duplicate notifications (usually outlook and Facebook messenger).

Not sure how to fix but would really appreciate any support!

how to root j3

so here is a tip. if you ever want to root a device, i always go to xda developers forum. i would then do my research there. i look to see if there is a forum for my device. i also look to see how active it is and if there is any developer support. if there is no forum that means there is no dev community currently supporting your device. developers are amazing and they are usually the ones who find ways to root specific devices.

just remember no dev=no fun

As you can see, the update system was without any sort of regularity early on, but the Ice Cream Sandwich era started the yearly OS version update schedule.

A few other fun notes:

  1. Honeycomb was the only tablet-specific version of Android, and it ran alongside the Gingerbread build for phones. The separate phone and tablet OSes were then combined starting with Ice Cream Sandwich.
  2. Ice Cream Sandwich was arguably the most dramatic update to Android to date. It not only combined the tablet and phone versions of the OS, but completely overhauled the look and feel of the system.
  3. Google initially released developer-focused Nexus devices to highlight each Android version’s power. This eventually evolved into the consumer-focused Pixel device line we have today.
  4. Android KitKat marked the first time Google teamed up with a commercial manufacturer for an Android release. They did it again for Android Oreo.

The Latest Version of Android is 10.0

The initial version of Android 10.0 was released on September 3, 2019, on Google’s Pixel devices.

Unlike previous versions of Android, this version doesn’t have a cute dessert name—or any other type of name beyond the version number. It’s just “Android 10.” Google still plans to use dessert names internally for development builds.


Android 10 features a number of updates and new features over its predecessor, including revamped gesture navigation, a system-level dark mode, better permission controls, more system security updates delivered through Google Play.

Bug after android 9 update

It's unlikely that you can save your files. If it won't boot into Android and you don't have a custom recovery then there is no way of accessing them (the official recovery module doesn't provide any way of doing this).

You could try booting into safe mode (will involve pressing some button combination while restarting the phone), but that's a very long shot: since what safe mode does is disable user-installed apps and this started with a system update I don't think it at all likely to work.

Otherwise I'm afraid I can't even promise that a factory reset will fix it. All that does is erase user data and settings, so if the problem is an incompatibility between the updated software and some of your data then that will fix it. But if the problem is that something went wrong with the installation of the update a reset won't help: if that's the case then you'll need to download a new set of software (e.g. from sammobile.com) and reflash the phone.

I seem to overcome the problem.

I have searched the net extensively and tried many "solutions" always unsuccessfully until last night.

I put the phone into aeroplane mode, turned it off, left it for about 5 minutes, turned it back on and then turned off aeroplane mode and it worked.

have you tried to reboot the phone? do you have a custom launcher like nova or adw?

last resort would be to factory reset? before you do, i would backup everything with smartswitch. it could have been a bad download or a bad install. a reset should fix it.

I obviously installed some dogey app and now I keep getting spam notifications and when I go on the site setting to disable it its blacked out and wont let me disable it

Just to be clear, you installed it, but now in your System Settings, its only option is 'disable' [not 'uninstall'], but it's grayed out so you can't disable it? Uh-oh! :o

Please post a screenshot of the app in System Settings. Also, the name of the app and its Play Store link would be helpful. I'm assuming you installed it from Play; if that's incorrect, please tell us where you got it--again, a link to it would be helpful.

You might try starting the device in safe mode and see if you can uninstall it then.

Worst case scenario, you might need to do a factory reset.

Before I say that it sounds like a catastrophic failure of your hardware, let me ask you this: have you tried multiple apps? For example, multiple media players, such as VLC, to verify that the video/music problems are not limited to certain apps? Does your microphone still work? Use a voice recording app, such as Easy Voice Recorder, to test talking.

How to use package installer in android studio?

You are right that it's only in the US where preferring Android to iOS might put you in a minority. Worldwide Android phones massively outsell iOS, and even in other Western countries iPhones are a minority.

Samsung are the most popular (and most profitable) Android brand in a very large part because more than a decade ago they made a strategic decision that they would spend whatever it took to do that (having been late and frankly undistinguished entrants into the mobile phone business). And backed by a corporation whose turnover accounts for 1/4 of S. Korea's GDP they could afford to spend more on marketing alone (which includes incentives to stores to push their phones) than many of their competitors' entire incomes. So really with the resources they threw at it they'd have had to do something very badly wrong if they couldn't make their devices popular (don't get me wrong, they make some nice devices, but I'm always aware of just how much they've spent on promoting them).
