Water damage display not working.

Do keep in mind that if all water is removed, only time will determine the long term effect / damage. Due to the close proximity of the micro like circuitry of phones, over a period of time spurs can occur on such due to moisture contamination and could lead to a short circuit at some point in time. I'm not at all trying to rain on your parade but please try to be realistic on successfully saving your phone long term. Drying out the phone completely soon after the introduction to water is your best shot at a full recovery. There is no guarantee to your success. I'm extremely sorry that your phone was breached by water. I've been there and done that.

What app uses this heart shaped icon?

I have the same problem. Can someone please tell me what this heart shaped icon is with 'love' wrote in it??
Are you British? Because there's an ITV show called "Love Island" screening at the moment which I know has a couple of associated apps, and I think it might be one of those (I don't watch it but it's hard not to have seen some of the branding, and the visual style of the word in that icon reminds me of it).

Is it a test?

Just to post a contrary opinion (what, me?), I actually am fine with the disappearence of the rankings. I'm of 2 minds with regards to no stats being visible unless you guess where to look for them, as traditional ones like join dates, numbers of posts or numbers of likes/thanks do convey some information at a glance. But ranking via what to most members will be an obscure algorithm never especially did it for me.

Apps Increase size of Radio Buttons

Hi there, I've recently been redesigning my apps UI to fit that of a 21" screen instead of a 10.5". I'm able to keep most of the logic/code but pretty much need to completely redo the UI. Things like Text Views and Edit Texts are easy to increase font size but I can't find a good way to increase the size of a Radio Button. Is the only way to adjust the scaleX and scaleY and mess around with the padding to avoid clipping?

Earphone options for Android

Honestly all the earphones I've found aren't still not what I'm looking for they're comfortable but the sound quality isn't the best and the volume controls never work... Still searching!
Try the 1more company. I've used both the Triple Driver and Quad Driver wired earphones. The sound is excellent, they are under $200, and their controls definitely work on the LG V40. They both come with a large variety of cushions, a case and an adapter for airplanes. If you Google either model for reviews, you'll see.

Help Unable to Play Videos in Samsung Internet

Samsung Internet has a full dark theme.
Chrome has a dark theme but only for Chrome components. Web pages still open with a white background.

It must be me getting older, but I have trouble looking at a screen with a white background and black text..

A fair point, I HATE anything that isn't dark mode. HATE the white retina blasting whatevers. :)

Essential ph-1 phone stuck in boot loop

Can't you just force a restart (press and hold the power button) and then use some key combination to boot it into recovery mode? If the bootloop is due to corrupted data then a factory reset from there should fix it.

If the firmware is corrupted then a reflash is needed, but most phones don't require the bootloader to be unlocked in order to flash official stock firmware (and I'm sure Essential provide factory images). It's only unsigned stuff (custom ROMs or recoveries) that generally requires unlocking, and indeed with some phones you have to actually lock the bootloader in order to flash stock images.
I have tried to force restart l, didn't work and I also did factory reset but still doing the same thing. Let me try to reflash it and see how it turns out..thanks

OxygenOS update 10.3.1 for OnePlus 6 & 6T

Sorry to hear you are having problems after the Android 10 update, Samantha Jones.

Which model of OnePlus 6T do you have... Global model 6T, McLaren Edition 6T or global converted T-Mobile carrier minority variant 6T?

The, "Bug Report", is in the Feedback section of the OnePlus forums, here...

https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/

It would appear that you are not alone with this issue, see...

Slow animations, Less responsiveness on Android 10

one plus 6t performance lag after android 10 update

Both of these threads suggest backing up your phone and performing a Factory Reset.

However, before embarking on that course, it might be worth trying the following...

Ensure that, "NFS: No Limits", is not optimised in Battery...

Settings > Battery > Battery optimisation > NFS No Limits > Don't optimise

You can also enable Developer Options on your phone...

In Developer options you can increase the, Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale. I would initially suggest moving them from 1 to 0.5.

Try clearing the games cache, not data...

Settings > apps & notifications > SEE ALL *** APPS > NFS: No Limits > Storage & cache > Clear cache

Enable RAM Boost...

Settings > System > RAM Boost > Increase RAM utilization

Enable Game Space and Fnatic mode for NFS: No Limits...

App drawer > Game Space > + (add NFS: No Limits > Menu (cog wheel), choose options and Fnatic mode

See if the above cures your lag. If not, A Factory Reset will be needed.[/QUOT0E]

I use a Global model 6T,

Thank you will try the above and let you know.

Help with a dilemma

If you remember Diamond dual-up modems, they had ones you could “pair” (if you had a compatible ISP) and double your speed. I had a friend who did that. Of course you also had to have two phone lines for it to work, so it wasn’t for the budget-minded folks.
I did have two phone lines, a dedicated one for connecting to the server in my office at work--using a Wyse terminal--and the other for personal use. My employer paid for the work line.
He also had a 14” color CRT for his Leading Edge computer. And a 40MB HD that in those days cost $400 and took half a day to configure and install...
In my office at work, I had a 14" color monitor, plus a dumb terminal. I'd sometimes take a break from actual work by playing a game on the color monitor, on one of my desktops--and be able to switch quickly to another desktop if someone walked in.

Funny, we've had multiple desktops in the *nix world FOREVER, and last I heard window$ finally implemented some kind of crude, clunky, unsophisticated--in other words, normal for their software--version of their own. I've had confirmed that it can't even begin to do anything similar to what we've had with KDE for decades.

Like this, where each side of the cube is one of my desktops [which I always set at 9], and rotating the cube--aside from being fun!--is how I've chosen to navigate from desktop to desktop:

Tilted up for a look at its other desktops:

Kubuntu_desktop_123112_2.png

that replaced a Bernoulli drive (who remembers those!!!)
Me! Me! I've mentioned my Bernoulli drive at work several times. It used 8-inch floppy disks.
Painful back then, but virus-free, too. :D
No pain for me, really. Thanks to starting on--and sticking with--UNIX/Linux, my computing life has been nothing but fast, efficient, fun and, in 35 years, I've *never* had to deal with viruses, or any other crap micro$oft users think are just part of life. I don't know how, or WHY, they do it!

Help A30 will not download apps or some app updates via data

Had to buy a phone from the local post office after my first gen pixel's screen de-laminated due to the battery swelling, can't wait for the parts to arrive, this older phone still beats many newer ones.

Bought the A30, it was the highest quality phone they had ...for apps download and update I have set all settings to "Download over any network" and even tried "Only Use Mobile Data" to see if that helped ... yet many Apps still won't download and some won't update and simply display "Waiting for WiFI" which I won't be able to gain access to until I drive 94k's to the closest town with a WiFi Hotspot that my Mobile network supplier has at certain points in that town. and just now while I'm writing this it once again turned off it's WiFi Hot spot capability and I need to go to the phone and turn that back on so I can keep typing this post and continue to gain access the internet from my Laptop, this is seriously stupid!!!

Seriously Samsung, how long have you been producing phones and how many more do you sell than Google?who manage to get the software workinh smooth and with very few glitches such as this, people like me need to report to the governemnt as I've been laid of and am recieving government support till more work comes my way and I can't with several apps, freeking unbelievable!!!!

Galaxy Z Flip at Best Buy (We’ll notify you when it’s ready to ship)

It is the bending over that's the problem. My Note easily resides in my pocket. I have to bend over, squat down, or even get on my knees to do a lot of my work. That is when I notice that it's just a little taller than my pocket. I would simply use a belt clip case but I'm wearing a full size carpenter's apron that leaves no belt space exposed. I'll likely go a full 360 case of some sort and carry the phone in my apron. Not at all ideal but a work-a-round. My S8+ shot craps just a couple of months too soon. If I could have waited for a replacement, the fold phone would have been under serious consideration for it's carry size. Plus... face it.... it's cool tech! I'm not in the least displeased with the Note 10+ I bought. It does everything I need and does it quite well. It is a cool phone and I'm very pleased with it. Maybe I can influence the little woman to upgrade to my Note :) :)

How to send touch tones with Android Auto (or hands free)?

Hi there,

Is there a way to send touch tones when hands free? (Either with Android Auto or just using the phone directly hands free.) I know how to insert them into a contacts phone number so that isn't my question. Just want to be able to navigate a menu system without touching the phone.

(I'm new here but have searched for keywords and couldn't find anything relevant. If a thread exists please feel free to point me to it.)

Thanks,

..Tom

How do i share an existing folder on Google Drive/Dropbox with my phone?

Hello,

I use an app called Easy Voice Recorder to record my song ideas on my android phone. I want this folder to be shared on the cloud, so I can open them seamlessly on my desktop at home.

I've tried installing both Google Drive, Dropbox and PCloud, but non of them seem to want to share an local folder that's already on my phone. They just use cloud folders ore something. Those, I can't direct the wav file storage to.

How can I share a path like: Xperia L1\Delt internlagring\EasyVoiceRecorder via dropbox, or make a folder I can direct my sound record app storage to?

I really hope I don't have to copy the indivitual files from the EasyVoice folder to one of the cloud folders in order for this to work. In that case, this is not time saving at all.

Hope to hear from someone.

-Bjørn
That is really easy, I use drop box all the time, what you do is click right where it saids "Share the file" with the right triangle open up with three circles, and send to someone else, but they must have an account on dropbox :)

Travelling

The Location function typically relies up three things -- GPS, local cellular towers, and local IP addressing. GPS being the most precise, with cellular requiring at least three local towers for some kind of triangulation to work, and IP addressing being the loosest as they can only define certain regional locations.
Time is adjusted on our devices by periodically syncing up with various online time servers, like time.nist.gov, and there are countless numbers of them but they all reference to the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) atomic clock in Greenwich, England.
The two are inter-related but not dependent on each other -- i.e. you can use a VPN to be connected via WiFi to a different country but still have the local time being where you actually are.
Since your tablet doesn't have cellular connectivity, it of course can't use cellular towers so that leave GPS and IP addressing. If you typically leave GPS off than if you at least use it with WiFi connectivity at some point it will sync itself with a predetermined time server. No clue as to the time interval your Huawei tablet is set to sync with a public time server though. Could be hourly, could be daily, or more.

As for rooting your device, be sure you're prepared in advance for its drawbacks too. Yes it allows you more access to system-level tasks but it's not the magic fix that a lot of people tout it is. Rooting gives you the ability to delve into the operating system a lot deeper, but it does not also automatically give you the knowledge.
https://phandroid.com/2019/02/23/5-reasons-why-you-shouldnt-root-your-android-smartphone/
Root your device because you have specific reasons to. In your example of the Set Time Zone being greyed out in the Settings menu, rooting your device won't just magically enable that setting for you. You'll need to learn specific CLI commands, along with what system files to edit. Just as an example, the relevant time server info will be listed in /system/etc/gps.conf
