How do I Switch a CDMA/GSM S5 Verizon to AT&T

Just to add, keep in mind that 3G is currently being phased out so within a couple of years it's going to be 4G and up only.

Vpn isn't working Properly on Samsung J6

You can only have one running, active VPN service at a time. Using multiple VPNs will just create connectivity problems.
Try going into your Settings >> Apps menu, tap on the Force stop button and then the 'Clear data' button, and then Uninstall for each of the VPN apps you have installed. Then be sure to restart your phone. (... don't skip that Clear data step, you want to remove all the config/settings files too) Now pick just one VPN service, install and configure its settings to see if your phone can get online access normally again.

I have 1 Vpn have installed everytime I try.
I just went through 2-3 vpn apps when my premium version wasn't working

Android expert needed!

Sorry for not seeing any of these responses earlier! I figured I would get a notification if there were replies but I must have missed them. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I am sorry that I took the initial post, asking whose phone I was inquiring about, the wrong way. I am just frustrated in general and shouldn't have taken it out on you. I have just had experiences where people knew the answers but didn't tell me because children deserve their privacy and freedoms. They obviously aren't parents. This isn't about porn, or sending nudes or whatever else people usually associate with phone "spying". Believe me, porn doesn't get hidden as well, which is what makes this suspicious activity more concerning. Anyway....

I wrote my original post linked to the Vault app I was referring to. I'm not sure if it's visible to people are they see the post... but it's called nq Vault.
I'm not sure how to describe the desktop clock app other than it's listed as "com.android.deskclock" When I try to look up it just seems like a normal clock but how much it appears in the activity feed and the times it's used are never for setting alarms/turning alarms on or off... even checking the time this frequently doesn't make sense... So that's why I asked. It could very well be a normal clock app (again, I have never used an android personally so I have very little detail or even knowledge to help explain things any further).

As far as the frequently contacted, when I go to contacts I see that as an option to choose and that is where I see this one lone e-mail address. I looked at my gmail account as well and I have that option to see too, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't have it in your gmail account.

Ten years later; still works

I should say that, first, it's not really usable - you cannot activate a phone this old on Verizon anymore (and it was a Verizon-only phone.) I had to airplane mode the phone to get it past the activation step (this phone is so old that the tap the four corners trick doesn't get past activation.) Second, yes, you'd have to be really, really desperate to use this as a phone or a smart device of any sort, even if you could activate it. (I was actually amazed that I could log into a Google account - if I were Google, I think I'd be blocking Eclair devices from actually connecting at this point.)

Just pointing out that ten years after it was released, the thing still actually works.

I love that it still works, but yes, not actually *usable* by todays standards. HTC was a beast, and I wish it still was.... :'(

This thread makes me want to post a pic of my OG Droid that's still rocking to this day as my daily alarm clock.

I still have my OG Incredible.... I wonder if it boots up still :)

Help Did I buy a fake sd card?

1) Install SD Insight (free at Play). That'll give you an idea of what the card is. (Manufacture date - which can't be 1.1.70 - if it is you know you have a counterfeit card, manufacturer's number, etc.)

2) Install h2testw on a Windows computer, use a card reader if necessary, and see what's in the card. If it was really a 32GB card programmed to claim to be 64GB (normally they'll use 2GB or 4GB cards for that), the program will tell you the real size of the memory card inside the SD card (which is more than just memory).

I know this is now moot for you since you sent the card back, but if you're going to buy SD cards you should have those 2 programs available first. (I went through a rack of "32GB" good "brand name" cards in a big box store. Out of 12, 2 were counterfeit. Even with a magnifying glass, we couldn't see any difference in the printing on the card or the packaging. But both "32GB" cards were 4GB memory chips.) If I buy a card, I pay for it, then install it and run SD Insight on it before I leave the store (and make sure I have no other SD cards with me). If the card is fake, I have a discussion with the manager or owner. They can strip-search me if they want (that'll cost them more than they make on cards in 5 years), but they'll refund my money, replace the card or the sheriff will execute the judgement I'll get in court against the business.

Counterfeiting memory cards should be a felony. Unfortunately in most places it's just "give him another card". And that's why it happens - the loss/benefit ratio. If you get caught you don't lose anything. But you can sell hundreds of $2 cards for $100 and tell the people who don't know any better that their phones must have corrupted the cards, and they should get their phones fixed.

It's like the "antenna boosters" the industry used to sell (I refused to even deal with the people offering them to dealers) - the ones you pasted under the battery. They "improve" your - oh, not your, the seller's ... uh, bank account. They sold for $9.95 each. If the dealer wanted to really win you over as a customer, he'd take you aside and let you know that - and this was only for you - he'd give you the card for $5 - 50% off.

They sold tor $10/thousand - that's a penny apiece. And if you bought large lots - say $100,000 - that would cost you about $100. That's 1/10 cent each. For $9.95.

And they did as much to improve your signal as praying to Zeus does.

People only rip people off because the people who get ripped off allow themselves to get ripped off. If everyone who got ripped off called the rip-off artist out, we'd need a lot more prison space.

Oh, in the future, give yourself a fighting chance with SD cards. There are only 2 manufacturers (everyone else buys reject chips and programs what's still working to show) - Samsung and SanDisk. And, IMO, Samsung is too expensive for the same quality. So I buy SanDisk. So far I've had one bad one - I broke it trying to put it into a phone. It still works, the coating is a bit chipped. (I'm 71 and my eyes aren't what they used to be.) I'd bet 50/50 that SanDisk would replace it if I asked. And I buy retail, since I don't need many cards, so they never heard of me. But I've heard that they've replaced counterfeit cards that were made to look like theirs. And they rewrote their firmware (there's firmware in those little cards) to fix a problem that a phone manufacturer caused. Not their problem, but they put forth the effort to make their cards work in those phones. That's the kind of company I choose to give my money to, even if it costs a little more.
still works in 2020.excellent description. jesus bless

creating custom layout overlaps in android

I wanted to create a Navigation bar like drawer that held some custom resources and custom widgets which would allow me to put them using constraint layout but this is not provided by android.

How do people create their custom libraries to do that? For example consider this navigation bar (check time code 1:15), it consists of a custom transformation for it's layout, manages layout overlaps and stuff like that. He gives a source for that here.

Please give me a pointer how is this acheived or what knowledge is required to be able to do this. I'm willing to do my bit of research but I don't know where to start or what is used in achieving this. Is it done using OpenGL ES? Canvas drawings? ANY HELP AT ALL would be greatly appreciated.

Data usage

Something that might slim down your monthly data usage is to cut back the resolution quality of those online music and video streaming services:
https://www.howtogeek.com/201827/ho...vices-use-and-how-you-can-make-them-use-less/
Almost all the major video services -- Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, etc. -- include the ability to reduce bandwidth by manually opting for lower resolutions.
Youtube and Netflix, just as examples, rely upon really advanced on-the-fly compression technology so even their lessor quality video streams are quite good especially on a smartphone where audio and video quality is relative to the smaller scale anyway.

Choosing between S20 and S20+

Too excited to do an un-boxing video. But the phone is absolutely awesome. Comparing it side-by-side to the galaxy S 10+ which I still have, you can see the differences in the screen, the rapid response to finger touch, practically everything is better.
Presently busy updating all my apps and will then play with it.
I just love the small form factor. It can fit into a shirt top pocket and practically disappears in my jeans pocket. I figure the weaknesses of the screen "so-called liquid glass" are more than mitigated by the fact that it is folded in my pocket and when not in use.
The fold is a nonevent. Can barely notice it.
I got the last one available at the local AT&T store and according to them backorders for this phone are at record levels.

Man I get the excitement. You have GOT to show it off. We all want to see and hear about it.... every last detail. You can't brag it up too much to make me happy! Congrats.. big time!!!!

Where are Google Product Forums?

It seems that Google closed down their traditional Product Support forums last year in favor of a new system. Unfortunately the new system ditches many of the old topics (such as Android Phones) and they're redirecting old conversations to a dead page.

I found this when trying to visit a link I had bookmarked. I'm wondering how many other people are realizing this just now?

Chances are you can find everything you need here at Android Forums: we have a complete list of Android Phones here, you can try the search bar at the top of this page, and if still you can't find what you're looking for you can create a new post here.

Their new system is on an all new platform, which broke a bunch of old talk and threads. Now it is google products specifically, so if you have pixel question great, any other phone and you need a different place (like here!)

To everyone else wondering, if you have gmail, wearos, photos, pixel, questions, they have volunteers there to help you. But that is a helpdesk type of solution, not a community forum like here. If that makes sense.
