Used cellphone

When you purchase a pre-owned phone from a source like Ebay it's always a matter of confirming the validity of the seller. This phone was obviously not checked out before they took your money.
No, it's not just that this won't be a 'simple' matter to clear up (if it was, there's no point in having any kind of parental controls to begin with). an important point is anytime you buy a pre-owned phone, you don't want to have anything tied the previous owner left on it. You want to have a phone that's clean the first time you start it up so you set it up the way you want, not how the previous owner had set it up. Also, you don't want anything like a spyware utility installed that the previous owner might have left behind.
Anyway, looking up the specs for this model, it's not very promising. Unless you have very minimal needs, it's usefulness as a daily usage phone will need be set by low expectations. It's a low-spec phone that will be running a dated, unsupported version of Android so as time goes on you will most likely have issues interacting with a lot of today's online services.

With only 1GB of RAM you will experiencing a lot of buffering and pauses as you use it, and with only 8GB of storage you will be constantly and frequently having to deal with 'out of memory' pop up messages.

But if you want to spend the effort on resurrecting this phone, you can go here to find a stock ROM for this phone:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/search/sm-j106/
Be sure to select the appropriate ROM that exactly matches your phone. Do not mix and match ROMs, they are not interchangeable. You need to determine which model of Galaxy Prime Mini you have (SM-J106B, F, H, or M) and download that ROM. When you select the ROM you need, the download page has instructions you need to follow to do the actual flashing process in the right column.

I'd still recommend you just return this phone and get one where you don't have to go through all this hassle to just get it workable again.

Custom roms for ZTE Speed?

Hi, I have successfully rooted my ZTE Speed using iRoot, and I would like to get a custom rom so that it can run Android 7.0 (my favorite version). It's kind of an unknown phone, so I've only been able to find stock roms. If anyone knows of a rom, please tell me! I don't really like Android 4.4.4!

Linux????

Your Samsung phones were all running an Android operating system, not Linux. If something like your Google account has been compromised, you need to address your online Google account. Change your password and set up 2-step verification:
https://myaccount.google.com/u/0/security?hl=en

It makes no difference how many phones you change to or if you switch to an iPhone, when someone else has access to your Google account you're simply giving them access to every phone you change to when you set up that phone with your compromised account. Regaining and securing your online account is the primary objective.

Open exr images in browser in android devices

An .exr file is hardly a typical image file type so it's not surprising to have a problem opening it on your device. Try installing this 'File Viewer for Android' app, exr files are in its list of supported file types:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sharpened.androidfileviewer&hl=en_US
If this is a matter where you want to manipulate/edit/alter an exr file, you might want to just convert it to a jpg, tiff, png, whatever. This online file conversion site states it supports exr files:

Help Outlook For Android stops Syncing

We use Outlook for Android on Samsung mobiles in an Exchange/MobileIron environment. More and more of our users are logging calls advising that outlook stops syncing and all emails disappear from their account on the mobile. Deleting the account and re-adding it fixes it but obviously this isn't ideal as it happens again and again intermittently. Looking for a more permanent fix. Any help appreciated.

How do I remove a theme?

If you downloaded the theme, and want rid of it, just uninstall it.

If you want to keep it, but just want it off to use the 'nightlight', then just force stop it.

Settings
Apps
(name of theme app you downloaded)
select it

A screen comes up with these options.

Perhaps in your app drawer the app will also appear, and maybe by selecting that icon a screen with on/off options or other choices may appear.

There might even be an option available with your quick settings, where an icon can control the on/off of the theme.

Without knowing the name of the app and where you got it, it is hard to guess what options you have available.

No shutter sound on camera

I have had phones, like the current Galaxy Note model, that have a "Shutter Sound" on-off switch in the Camera settings... and I have had phones that have no such option: shutter sound is mandatory. I've never heard of a phone with no shutter sound at all, and I don't think it would be legal to sell it that way.

That said: once you check your Settings -- Sounds -- Volume and make sure everything is turned up (especially system and media volumes), if everything makes a sound except the camera, it's possible that the shutter sound media file was corrupted. The camera sound resides in System/Media/Audio and is probably named something like "camera_click.ogg" - if it's possible, you might want to locate that media file online, download it and paste it into that folder, replacing the corrupt (or missing) file. A file explorer app like Solid Explorer may allow you to do that without root.

Gear S2 Stuck Setting Up

Okay I got it fixed and hopefully can help others.

I had to connect the Gear S2 watch to my android phone again. It downloaded a few apps it needed to connect. Once it connected, from the app on my phone I updated the watch. Latest updates had an option to disconnect and connect to new phone. Disconnected and then was able to connect to my son's iPhone.
thanx for posting your solution......never would have thought of that. I was going to say that maybe it has some kind of issue with the iphone. I never have had any issues with any of my gear watches.

Want no sounds unless called or texted or if one particular app makes a noise

Here is something to try.
I don't use Samsung, so I appologize (for them) in advance if your device does not have this feature.

Start from your homescreen.
Pull down from the top, to see your quick settings menu.

There should be a settings pinwheel/gearwheel.

Long press it for about 10+ seconds until it animates (spins).

Now open the phone settings.
Scroll down towards the bottom- you are looking for System UI Tuner.

Open that, and inside you will find the setting that allows you to customize notification levels (1-5) for each app.

Now when you go to adjust the notification settings of an app, you have multiple levels of notification available.

Now go into your phone ringer settings.

In there you will see Priority Only.
This is what you may need to use when you are on call.

Think of it as a built in extra notification profile.

Now that you have extra notification levels available for each app, you will see that there is also an option to Override Oriority Only.

This is where you set the apps that you WANT to wake you up when you are on call.

After all this, put your phone ringer into Priority Only when you are on call.

Only the apps that you have allowed to notify during Priority Only and those that you allow to Override Priority Only can notify you.

When you are no longer on call, change the ringer setting to your normal setting, and everything is just like it was before.

Hope this helps.
