How to upgrade to latest version firmware

welcome to AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if there is no updates for your phone, then there is no updates for your phone. not much you can do really other then root it. however, there really is no info on your phone as to how to root it, so i doubt that it can be. this is a very low end device, and probably not really on any developers radar to support rooting the device.

.......so i think your phone is what it is. maybe it is time to upgrade?????

Oppo A1K BUG: Google Contacts Notes Field Limitation Of 1000 Characters

In Oppo A1k android phone whenever someone tries to add a google contacts notes exceeding 1,000 characters limit, the remaining data in that contacts notes field gets truncated or deleted.

For example, if I create a new contact in my mobile phone and try to add more than 1,000 characters note in the Google Contacts Notes field, it does not let me go beyond that limit.

Please note that this limitation is phone manufacturer specific since I can easily add more characters (beond 1,000) in Google Contacts’ Notes field via Google’s web interface on any computer desktop or laptop/notebook at;

Phone Model: Oppo A1k CPH1923 (Android 9 Pie Kernel4.9.117 and ColorOS 6.0.1)

Sync Issues - Exchange 2010 Contacts & Truncated contact notes

It is December 22, 2019 and I am still finding this issue (of google contact notes field truncating data in a phone set) with another Android phone set i.e. Oppo A1k. There used to be a work-around app;

Contact Editor Free (For lengthy contact notes) by DMFS GMBH
https://apkpure.com/contact-editor-free/org.dmfs.android.contacts

But this is no more available on Google Play store. Do you guys have found any other solution to this? There seems an issue with the technological interaction (communication) between Google Contacts team and the mobile phone manufacturers.

Apps Permanently remove discoverability check while turning ON/OFF BlueTooth on Android

Hi everyone!

I'm developing an Android app that is thinked to run for long periods of time. At certain moments I need to communicate with some Blutooth devices (both 3.0 and BLE) so the idea is to switch ON the BlueTooth when I need and then turning it OFF for the rest of time.

My problem come when I turn the BT ON and an alert always pops us saying about the discoverability of my device, and I wish to remove this alert.

Searching around for a solution, I tried using intents :

Intent discoverableIntent = new Intent(BluetoothAdapter.ACTION_REQUEST_DISCOVERABLE);
discoverableIntent.putExtra(BluetoothAdapter.EXTRA_DISCOVERABLE_DURATION, 0);
startActivityForResult(discoverableIntent, GlobalConfiguration.REQUEST_DISCOVERABLE);

and also reflection:

BluetoothAdapter bluetoothAdapter = BluetoothAdapter.getDefaultAdapter();
Method method;
try {

method = bluetoothAdapter.getClass().getMethod("setScanMode", int.class, int.class);
method.invoke(bluetoothAdapter, BluetoothAdapter.SCAN_MODE_CONNECTABLE_DISCOVERABLE, 0);
}
catch(Exception e) {

e.printStackTrace();
}

both unsuccessfully, standing that after BT state switch from ON -> OFF -> ON, the dialog about the discoverability comes up again.

There's a way to remove this alert forever, also after an ON/OFF of the BlueTooth?!

Thanks in advance

I want to return phone and stop service

We understand that you're upset, Stacey cogswell, but SHOUTING at us won't help anything. :)

Personally, I would not tolerate the way you're being treated by Metro. Each time I buy a new phone (which I do directly from the manufacturer, Motorola), I carefully read its warranty.

I bought a new Moto Z² Force Edition last year around this time. Six months later, it had a problem (screen burn-in), and Motorola promptly shipped me a new replacement--per the warranty I agreed to.

If your warranty provides for a new replacement, don't accept anything less. If I had just bought a new phone and it stopped working almost immediately, I'd INSIST on a new, not refurbished, replacement.

You may need to contact customer service and escalate this, i.e., demand to speak to a supervisor who has the authority to send a new replacement. But keep your cool! Letting them know you're pissed off is one thing, acting out is quite another.

how to reset encrypted messages and block numbers

my sister has this blue life pure xl phone and she let her kids text with it and they somehow encrypted some messages. she is not a phone wis but i told her i would try to help. she is running out of space so her phone tells her and so we looked and a bunch of messages are locked and require a password. i looked in all the setting i could and i did not see any place to unlock these, so maybe there is some kind of default password or will she have to do a complete factory reset? one of the youger guys claims there is nothing she can do, but i think as a last resort she can factory reset it and all these will be gone. or does google reset them after a factory reset?

oh also she said she is getting tons of robo calls and i tried to set up blocking the numbers, but i did not see that either. so is that possible to do on that model phone. i have an lg phone and i can do that on mine, but i could not find that option on her phone. thanks

How to get rid of voicemail app

I have an S7 Edge on Sprint. It has the stupid voicemail app installed. How can I get rid of it - it won't let me uninstall it? Or is there some way I can get the standard voicemail notification back - so when there is a a VM, I can pull down the status bar and just dial into my voicemail? I could live with the app if it didn't have the stupid ads. But I'd really prefer to get rid of it.

I've seen some posts around that say you can go into your sprint account and remove visual voicemail from your account features, but I don't have that option anywhere.
Locate the package name, example voicemail.apk then use adb to uninstall it.

Tracking

It probably already has Google's "find my device" app (on old devices it would be called "Android Device Manager"), so just make sure that is activated. You can easily test it with a Web browser (just type "find my device" into your search engine and you'll find the site).

Several security apps have device location functions. I don't have one installed currently, but I know Avast used to, and I believe Cerberus did as well.

Obviously these things can only work if the phone is powered up and connected to the Internet.

Cannot transfer files from S6 to PC

I have an S6 and I had planned on using a cable to connect to my tv because it didn't have screen mirroring, but it wouldn't work. So I looked into it and was told at the store I got it from, as well as best buy that the S6 does not have the ability to send information out th through the port, only incoming. Total b.s. and the worst galaxy S phone in the lineup. Not water proof, no expandabile storage and no sending information through a wire. Stupid options to get rid of in my opinion, oh and they're also more susceptible to screen burn or whatever you call it when images imprint onto your screen.
