Apps not showing in Settings

all this depends on what phone you have, put they should be there. maybe a screenshot? or a better explanation on where you are looking for them.

Thanks for your reply. I’m using galaxy 5. I was looking for application manager and clicked on Settings. Quick settings, network connection etc all showed, but the display stopped at Applications, showing only the header and would not scroll up to show Applications Manager. I tried this several times without success. I have just tried again and it has worked perfectly! Sorry!

traveling abroad???

I have Motorola E4, and I checked the compatibility (thanks to the posters here for this thread to check it). The device is capable for GSM. I traveled to Taiwan, where GSM is used.

My carrier is Tello, using Sprint technology. Thus, when my phone was unlocked, it was in Sprint network, but only worked in the US.

Help Receiving blank text from number

SMS with 5 digit numbers, depending what country you're in might be something premium rate, and you could be charged for it. Like if you're in the UK, 5 digit SMS short codes can be premium rate, using reverse SMS billing. Check your phone bill. Maybe some app you have installed instigated them?

Sqlite Database context android

Android random unknown notification sound noise

I had a similar problem with my Pixel XL. The problem was that my phone would on occasion start chiming for unknown reasons. After some troubleshooting I realized it only happened when my phone was connected to an after market charger and it was fully charged. (Mine is a Qualcomm 2 amp) Everything works well with the Google charger. I'm not familiar with the charging system on the Pixel, possible it was a warning notification that the battery was over charging. It hope this helps others with the same problem.

My observations are that if you can see a cover which can be removed easily (e.g. Samsung S4) there will be an easily replaced battery.
Most newer "smart phones" have builtin non-replaceable batteries and this Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 I own falls into that category.
In fact there is NO reference to removing the battery in the User Guide which comprises 53 pages of info.
The Xiaomi has a bevelled edge glass which neatly fits to the body and has no access points so I would not attempt to prise or lever this apart.
The battery is 4000 mAh battery which has extremely good ratings for Standby time. Mine will last 2 full days under normal useage before needing to topup the charge.

On-screen keyboards

Well the biggest third-party keyboard of the lot, SwiftKey, has all of the features I listed.

I genuinely don't know what would make a good tablet keyboard, despite having owned a tablet for 6 years. They are too big to thumb type on like a phone (certainly in landscape mode - I rarely use mine in portrait) and yet vastly inferior to a laptop for proper typing. None of this is an impediment to me as I mainly use mine for reading and annotating documents using a stylus, but for typing it's the least favourite of all of the devices I own. I were going to do a lot of typing with a tablet I'd personally use a physical keyboard with it (but then I've touch-typed since the 1980s, so that will always be most effective for me).

As you say, perhaps someone else will have some other ideas.

They must be specific to your manufacturer and/or model--I've never had any such icons. The 'volume down and power button' is universal with all Android devices. So it's the standard instruction for taking screenshots.

Use SD card as internal storage

No, you don't need to root in order to use the SD card as internal storage: that's been a standard feature of Android since Version 6.0.

However, before you get too excited not all phones offer it. Some manufacturers specifically remove it from some of their phones. It's often the flagship models they remove it from, but if it's something you want you should check whether the specific model offers the feature (which is a question I can't answer).

As for root, check whether that's possible for that phone first. Especially if you propose to buy it from a US service provider, as Samsungs sold through them are often locked down very hard.
