User Interface

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, 8.0.0 Oreo.

The Google Play Store shows an "update" entitled, Samsung One UI Home." My current UI is called, "Samsung Experience Home." I understand that the update is the same UI with a different name. I've read the reviews that pertain to Galaxy S7, 8.0.0 Oreo for the new update, and they are all really bad, reporting several problems.

QUESTIONS
1.
Is the update worth downloading?
2. If not, is there a way to remove it from "updates" on the Google Play Store, so that I can just hit the "update all" link, rather than having to go through and select each individual update on other apps, in order to avoid updating Samsung's new UI update?

I've attached is a few screen shots for clarification and understanding.

Thanks,
— Matt
It's an update to change the name of the app for One UI but everything else will remain the same

Charging issues

One last update....contacted Samsung and they told me to take it to an authorized repair center. So I took it to an authorized repair center and they were able to replicate the issue and said they could not repair it. They told me to contact Samsung and go through the warranty process. So I did. And disappointed is putting it mildly. They said I have to mail in the phone to THEIR repair center, that they cannot take the word of the authorized center they sent me to. I'm told it's 5-7 business days before they can make a decision. So, after mailing, that's 2 weeks. Then they'll send me a new one since this cannot be fixed. They do not offer any sort of loaner phone, so I'd be without a phone for 2+ weeks. I use it for work so I cannot be without it for that long.

Very disappointed in their solution, especially for such an expensive phone.

I miss the days when PCs made sounds like these

Now that's funny right there!

Unfortunately, locating an old DMC-12 is like locating unobtainium. They must have all been cash for clunkered...thanks for nothing, Obama.

Oh, FYI, I managed to coax my Galaxy S5 back to life, on one line only BTW (the verizon-based one). So long as you got 4G LTE data available it can text and make/receive calls, but if you drop to 3G, 1x, or worse, bars only, forget that. That has to be RCS. The S5 was the first phone to support VoLTE and RCS via a Verizon app (Messages+). SMS appears dead entirely where I live.

That at least is one-hand friendly, and fits my pocket better, and has more features than any smartphone before or after, including:

1. Fingerprint reader
2. removable battery
3. IP67 water resistance
4. USB-3.0 + Fast Charge
5. IR blaster
6. Notification LED
7. Heart Rate Sensor
8. a UI that (to me at least) doesn't look like crap

The SD card reader is bad/broken and won't read SD cards (they show as corrupt but read fine in other devices--and formatting just sits there indefinitely) but I'll manage for now, since my car has an SD reader in the new stereo I bought for it (straight from 2010--old infotainment style display w/backup camera)

Help ¿Is there a way to auto sync my smart band statistics with an app (long term)?

Google Fit is positioned to be an aggregator of fitness data from other platforms, so it seems like it would directly address your need.

It does require that app developers implement a connection to the Google Fit API within their app, though - so it sounds like GadgetBridge would need to implement support for Google Fit in their app.

Alternatively, there are some apps like HealthSync which can bridge the gap between platforms which don't directly support each other. I use that for getting data from some other apps into Google Fit.

Thanks for your answer

I´ll try HealthSync and if it doesn´t work i guess i´ll have to go back to the official myfit.

I´ll post my experience later

Another day, another lie

You cannot login without a Google account. You can use the 'guest' account but it won't let you do anything since it's a limited account. ChromeOS is a cloud OS, and the login is just an online Google login. It doesn't run an OS the way a normal computer does. It's pretty useless without internet.

There are USB ports but I am not sure if it accepts the kind of external hardware that a normal laptop does. The specs will be quite low so even if you got Linux on the thing, it's going to perform horribly.

Set up Linux on your Chromebook
Linux is a feature that lets you develop software using your Chromebook. You can install Linux command line tools, code editors, and IDEs (integrated development environments) on your Chromebook. These can be used to write code, create apps, and more. Check which devices have Linux.

Important: If you use your Chromebook at work or school, you might not be able to use Linux. For more information, contact your administrator.

Turn on Linux
Linux is off by default. You can turn it on any time from Settings.

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings

  3. Next to "Linux development environment," select Turn On.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. Setup can take 10 minutes or more.
  5. A terminal window opens. You have a Debian 10 (Buster) environment. You can run Linux commands, install more tools using the APT package manager, and customize your shell

How to get rid of contact zombies

In the contact app I keep seeing old telephone number that I have deleted long time ago.
When I switch to edit mode I only see the current numbers but when browsing or searching for a contact in the phone app or the messaging app it keeps showing all that old garbage again and if one isn't super cautious it's easy to pick the wrong, outdated number.
This is mighty annoying! How can one force the contact app to clean out these outdated data?

intermittent sync\update issue with gmail IMAP account

Perhaps this isn't anything to do with the Gmail syncing process between your phone and your online Google account but this problem is due to your phone's online connectivity. Is this problem happening when you're using WiFi, or mobile data (cellular), or both? How stable and reliable is online access in general using WiFi and using mobile data?

Also, BlueMail being a highly configurable email app, have you checked the app's Settings menu for any options on how often the app updates itself? (polling Gmail servers for new email activity every 10 minutes or every hour or whatever).
If you've been toggling back and forth between POP and IMAP on the web access end, you do need to apply the appropriate changes in the BlueMail app for both POP/IMAP and SMTP.

Help post. Google notifications are grey squares.

Wow, what a well thought out composition! Thanks. She brought it to my attention as an annoyance. It's me that is probably annoyed more by it I'd imagine!
You are absolutely right about how she will probably get used to it and come to associate the grey box with chrome until that glorious day it changes back. At this point I didn't think you could come up with any more insightful ideas but from out the bag you pulled another! I was actually considering the brave browser for myself recently. She won't care much so I'll leave it as a suggestion to her.
I can't thank you enough kind stranger. The depth of knowledge and wisdom you possess is impressive. Your friends and family are no doubt lucky to have you. Thanks again.

How to Authorize Amazon Alexa to Run Scheduled Routines?

never used alexa really. nor google assistant. but which music player does alexa use to play songs? play music or prime music? check their permissions, if it is one of those.

The music is being played on Amazon Music, but that service appears to be integrated directly into the Amazon Alexa app. I tried adding some permissions to the Amazon Music app, but that did not change the result.

Is Yo Whatsapp 9.41 safe to use on android devices?

There are many problems that I need help with.
there used to be many mod versions of whatsapp app. If I use it on an Android device, it says it's not working.
But Yo Whatsapp version 9.41 is usable.
Do not know when using it has any effect?
Because it's not on CH Play.

Could mean incompatible with your phone or tablet, or it's corrupted, or that WhatsApp blocked it.

Don't know what this "CH Play" is.
