Android Studio Example Code

Using MIT App Inventor I modified a Bluetooth example that connects & sends data to a remote device, all pretty straightforward. Grabbed the AIA file from the Internet, loaded it into App Inventor, made changes, built the APK, installed and ran it on my phone – no problems.

Next I downloaded & installed Android Studio, made a basic test program with some buttons & pictures, sent it to my phone over Wifi and everything worked.

Then gave a shot at loading some Bluetooth examples on Android Studio but got lost in the weeds. First tried to directly load a bunch of different APK files but couldn’t get things to work, no Bluetooth connections could be made. Next gave a shot at using GitHub, downloaded a bunch of examples but same thing, couldn’t made a connection to the remote device.

MIT App Inventor makes it easy, only a single AIA files is needed while Android Studio has a bunch of files and directories and I don’t have a clue as to how properly load example code.

How does one know what files go where and into which directories?

Thanks.

Moving an album via USB link to pc

Since I have an s21 I just tested what the Samsung Gallery app let me do. And I agree they've not thought it through:

I selected a couple of photos and then chose the option "copy to album". I chose "create" and it gave me the option to enter a folder name, but gave no visible way of choosing where that folder would go within the filesystem. It actually create it as a subfolder of DCIM, but I had to use a different app to find it!

I was able to copy photos to a folder of my choice, but only via the same "share" trick I had to use with Google photos: select photos, choose "share", find a file browser in the options to share to (involved some side-scrolling, no clue in the UI to tell you to do that) and then use that to create and select a folder where I wanted it.

Bottom line: it's possible, but they don't make it easy. This sort of thing is why I generally use third party apps for most things rather than what the manufacturer bundles - I can usually find something that does a better job (or at least one that suits me better).
I like what you mentioned about this too, it is much more easier, screen shots and have them in a different subfolder on accident, or have them to a different folder that is visible to you, funny how my Gallery app just adds in different photographs I have snapshot and show them in my phone, but when I get super freaky and not have it all over the place, then it is a gather throughout the masses of my downloads.

Strange screen sizing

I would agree, if an ad blocker dos not work; dump the app(s). I also have a Galaxy Tab 6 lite and updated a few weeks ago to Android 12; however, I have never experienced this problem. However, I view some youtube videos, and use Firefox and that's about it. My primary use of this tablet is to download movies (or series episodes) from Netflix, Amazon, etc., to watch while camping.

Help Strange occurrence with sounds

what calendar app are you using?
I'm using Pimlical. It started out as Datebk many years ago and I've stayed with the developer ever since. I beta test it also but have never seen anything like this. I've made sure the sounds I use are in both lists. Hopefully that will stop the screw ups. The developer has the Pixel 6 Pro also and his doesn't have this issue.

Unwanted googooization of file manager

Recently I went to a video on sd via Simple (?) File Manager. I don't know how but it has apparently been colonized by goohoo. I retried that and another video, only to find that the horror of their file app/cleaner had metastasized. How do I get rid of this thing and return to normal?
never heard of simple file manager......sounds like it installed some crapware app cleaner which are not necessary. the only true way to delete the cleaner app is to wipe cache and data for simple file manager, and then uninstall it. it needs to be done in this order. sometimes when you uninstall and app, its cache will not uninstall with it. and sometimes those leftover cache and data could still have some kind of crapware.

i would do the same for the app cleaner....that is if its still there.

Mrs. Mittlieder

My phone is saying and that I have a virus in my cell phone and I need advice, directions how to fix it.
It's a spam message and you should ignore and delete it. Do not respond in any way, even to tell them to you're not interested or even to just f*** off.
Once you reply in any way, those morons will see that as a sign you're a viable target for more. Odds are they're just randomly fishing for victims so if they don't get any reactive signs hopefully they will just move on.

[SOLVED] Recommendations for single-serve coffee maker?

Didn't I update this thread?! I must've posted in some other thread... Anyway, my helper--with no input from me--decided that a nice Keurig would be a lot better. And bought it for me. I hadn't complained or anything about the little one I'd bought, but it was rather limited, and the Keurig is much, much nicer. :D
Keurig is a much better machine with only cups used for that cup, that is what we had for a spell in the house ^ _ ^ . Downside it's own size though, but it will grow on you :)

Help Cannot delete floater from home screen

A small "edit" symbol appeared suddenly on my home screen. It is not an icon. Touching it does nothing and I can move it to left, right, up or down. I can't find a way to delete it. I've looked at every setting I could think of.

Moto G100 lockscreen

Just an update on this in case it helps anyone else.
I contacted Motorola and found them very quick and helpful in their response.
They suggested I booted the phone into safe mode when it worked perfectly! Straight to my home page with a fingerprint.
The problem was software related to an app I had installed - screen off and lock.
Uninstalled it and found an alternative 'lock screen' which appears to work well allowing access to home page with a prompt for the pin.
