Fi switch

I had project Fi when it first launch and you had to get the invite. Left it for T-Mobile and then left T-Mobile for Verizon because it has better coverage. However I go a lot of places were even Verizon doesn't have coverage so as a backup plan I got Project Fi or is it Google Fi now:thinking:

noLED? Where did it go?

Long-time user of NoLED, but can't reinstall it on Xperia Z3 after a full system update. Tried V 6.0.18, 19 & 20, none will install.
LED Blinker looks good:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker.pro
Has just about all the customizations of NoLED, plus a few more.
After NoLed stopped working on mine, I tried led blinker.pro and have really appreciated it's useability. I think that it's the best/only substitute. The developer is active, timely with updates and is quick to respond to messages. Give it a try.

Restoring Whatsapp Messages issue

I have been struggling with the same issue for the past 3 days. And, it doesn't help that each time I delete Whatsapp and try to reinstall and login, it keeps increasing the times between which I can get the code. I have the correct backup on my device but am unable to restore from it. Googled and Googled but there is nothing out there that I can use to extract this local backup from the files. It keeps going to Google drive. I am not sure where on Google drive it is because I do not see anything there. Perhaps I could manually copy the files over there and delete the old ones?

Voice typing

Even after the December update, when I try to activate voice mode for entering text messages it quickly turns off and continues to do so after after tapping to turn it back on.

I have to think Android 12 did this because this started right after I upgraded. That makes 2 unwanted things that have happened after upgrading to the latest version. This is the first time it's happened with a version upgrade so makes me think 12 wasn't completely ready for distribution.

Help Migrating to a New Phone

Make sure you would be getting the newer A52s 5G, you probably meant this.

Poco F3 is a great phone from specs and reviews, and MIUI 12.5 is very impressive. I have a Poco F2 Pro so it's not much of an upgrade.
Some reviewers mention an issue with the proximity sensor during calls, others don't.

I can't advise on migration. I've had to set up 5 phones in the last 18 months (I still have 4), and it's mostly been a PITA except only once when Google tried to help, though it hadn't kicked in on the other occasions as it should. (Iirc - brain is fading)

Xiaomi to Xiaomi or Samsung to Samsung is made a little easier. I also saw that a 1st tier subscription to a Google One storage account offers more items backed up, but i have no experience with it. I've been considering the cheap 100gb extra online storage anyway.

I'm a fan of Xiaomi, I have two bought 1 year ago.
However the A52S 5G seems an excellent all around choice, even if it hasn't got the full SD870 grunt of the Poco F3.
In the UK I can get the Poco F3 for around £280 for 128gb, 330 something for the 256gb version.

The Samsung A52s started at £400 odd but it came down to around £360 last weekend.

I would also consider the new Xiaomi 11T (or 11T Pro if you can stretch further).
Xiaomi will offer 3 years OS and 4 years monthly patches updates on their new 11T models and the revamped Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE (formerly Mi model branding). Poco F3 and all other models up to now have sufficient but erratic and shorter updates.

Samsung now give similar promises on their new and A and S series at least.

Possibly overall the A52S 5g is a great package.

 Not directly what you were asking, but I'm always interesting IMV :)

Certain apps not connecting over wifi

I've recently come across this issue whereby my home automation works when using the phones mobile data but when at home I apps failed to connect to the home systems when using the home wifi. I was also not able to screen mirror to my new TV.
I've found a solution which should work you all.

The issue is with the IP address assigned to your phone, it needs to be on the same IP range as the devices you are trying to connect to locally.
So for example if your home devices are all ip range 192.168.4.xxx and your phone has been automatically assigned an ip of 192.168.5.yyy then this issue will occur.
The solution is to assign a static IP for your phone when using the home wifi and make sure the IP is in the range 192.168.4.xxx
Just goto settings > connections > wifi then click on the settings cog wheel against your wifi then click on Advanced and update to an unused static ip on the range your other devices are using at home and put in correct subnet mask (check your router for this or another device).

Help Bold Text in Messages

Hello,

As per my knowledge text formatting isn't possible in SMS, but received a brand SMS with bold text. Does anyone know about it how they do it?

They use Unicode symbols based font/text style, you can generate your text here: Madeintext.com/bold-text-generator/
After generating the bold text copy your text and paste it to send anywhere you want.
