I overheard a conversation in a cafe today. Two tradesmen talking about some home owner who had a full time handyman, who he referred to as the painter.

This will wipe/format your Data partion and your data will be reset.

INSTRUCTIONS :


1) Reboot your device into TWRP Recovery.

2) Go to Wipe menu.

3) Go to Advance Wipe.

4) Select Data and go to Repair or Change File System.

5) Click Repair File System. (If not fix, go to step number 6)

6) Go to Change File System.

7) Select Ext2 and swipe to confirm.

8) Now change back to Ext4 and swipe to confirm.

9) Now go back and check if your partions can be mount or not from
Mount menu.

10) If not fix, repair your Internal partition. (This may wipe your
Internal storage).
OR Unlock your bootloader again.

I don't actually use MS contacts, even though I do use Nine, but can confirm the same behaviour here: the Pixel contacts app will not offer me the option to add contacts to my Exchange accounts. Funnily enough contacts sync was turned off on my Nine also (though since I don't use its contacts that may have been a choice on my part), but turning it on and rebooting made no difference . But I can't say for sure that this is new because I never stored contacts in any of my Exchange accounts.

(I do notice that the Pixel app does offer device-only contacts, which I'm not sure it always did.)

You can change the default phone app, so if you can find a phone app that allows you to use a different contacts app that would solve it. However my alternate dialer, Simple Dialer, still takes me to the Google contacts app rather than Simple Contacts, which I also have installed but which also does not let me save to the Exchange accounts.

Of course if you just need to add a phone number it's easy: copy the number (which may require starting to add a phone or Google contact) and then create a MS contact using that.

Unfortunately it works the other way too: Nine only shows contacts from my Exchange accounts, so you can't say just create a device-only contact and them import it to your MS contacts book (I don't have Office 365 account details on my phone, but assume it would be similar to Exchange accounts).

So I saw an option called uninstall updates, and while I didn't want to do something I couldn't undo, I didn't know what else to do. I took a leap of faith and that fixed it. Thankyou very much to everyone who responded!

HI I seem to have a similar problem on an s8+ With me it always happens when I push the home button. this makes the phone unusable as that is what I need to do to enter the pin code before I can do anything with it. Prior to that, after a reboot, the display shows ok in that area of the screen, with the usual screen display with the time which is what made me think it must be a software problem.. The 2 phone shops I've been in tell me the display is broken even though it does work ok as I've described... They havent given 'me an explanation of why it works ok some of the time.

I believe *#0011# is specific to certain Samsung phones only, also "MTK" means it's for MediaTek SoC based devices, which Samsung doesn't usually make, and there is no "MTK engineer" mode on Galaxy series phones.

What phone have you got there exactly, make and model?

As for restoring the IMEI, you mean it's blank? That can happen if you root and flash an incorrect firmware for your device. And presumably that's what you've done? A fix for that is to re-flash either the correct manufacturer firmware or custom ROM for your phone.

I would try NewPipe before I shot at it.

I am using Firebase for notification purpose and using Google SSO in my app. Google SSO was working fine with debug and release apk generated from my machine. How ever it was not working in the app downloaded from playstore. Then I went to my Play Consoleaccount and copied SHA-1 and SHA-256 keys and added them in Firebase. Then Google SSOstarted working on Playstore Version as well. Even though I didn't download and update google-services.json file after updating the Playstore's SHA-1 and SHA-256, Playstoreversion is working good.

But when I updated Debug and Release key store's SHA-1 and SHA-256 keys, I had to download the updated google-services.json.

My doubt is, isn't it mandatory to download google-services.josn file after updating SHA-1 and SHA-256 keys in firebase.?

Would I just be better off uploading them to Google Photos from PC? I've already transferred them locally from phone to PC. The only problem with that is handling the duplicates (photos uploaded from PC vs photos which were already uploaded from the phone)
