Indie Filmmaking with Galaxy Fold 2

I'm trying to simplify my life, and not have so many different devices. I'm also an documentary filmmaker, and I know the Fold 2 has a good camera.

However, I'm wondering how it do rendering video footage (1920, not 4k). I know a lot of laptops aren't made for rendering an entire feature film, so I'm guessing the Fold may struggle with that.

However, I'm curious if anyone has tried rendering a feature film using the Fold and android video editing apps, and if so, how did it go? What were the pros and cons of doing so?

Thank you for any feedback.

Samsung does offer better cameras in the Note20 Ultra and S21 Ultra series of phones. Plus also depending on your particular style of "film making", the Fold 2 might be too fragile(especially the screen) for such activities? IMO folding screen phones in their current form are really boutique devices for the guy who must have the latest technology, regardless of practicality.

As for feature film length HD video editing and rendering, I definitely think that work flow would be much better done with an appropriate specced laptop and editing software.

Need recommendations on Mobile Phone Hardware Development Platform for Android 10/11

Hello,

I am working on a project that requires a Mobile Hardware Development Platform interfacing with a custom SOC over the SPI interface to do some advanced sensor related functionality. For this we need to have/configure access to the GPIO/SPI pins in the Android System/Device Tree and thus need all the sources for the Android System (preferably Android 10 or 11,) along with writing a custom driver later on. Can someone recommend a particular Mobile Hardware Development Platform or a Hacked Phone/Mobile that would work with bringing out SPI access and that has the Android 10/11 OS sources available for the platform/device (e.g. Lineage OS/AOSP, etc...)???

I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!

LG G6 - Fastboot boot loader error - unknown command

Unlocking the bootloader is the easy part. You just type 'fastboot oem unlock' and that's it. The complicated part is flashing a custom recovery because apparently the version of fastboot that comes on the T-Mobile G6 doesn't support the 'fastboot flash ______ _______' command. Installing a custom recovery involves flashing the laf partition (download mode) from the h918 then booting fwul Linux from a USB stick and running a script that flashes your recovery to the laf partition, which finally allows you to root, flash roms, and install your custom recovery to the recovery partition. I got as far as unlocking the bootloader and flashing the laf partition from the h918 but the second step that requires using fwul Linux to install the recovery didn't work, for reasons which I don't yet understand. The phone still works fine but for the time being I've lost the ability to use download mode to flash a stock kdz firmware.
Hey there, Masterchief87, were you ever able to figure this out? I have been trying to update mine and I got to the same point you did. Hate to bump an old thread, but this is the last lead I have found to root this thing / install twrp

[Roms] Android 10

No i have not but im will post and follow the XDA post you gave me. Thanks

You guys have the newer chipone version, bringing the total screen variants to 3 now. The issue is known and news will be posted when it's fixed. I am not developing for this device anymore as I am currently doing the 5 Samsung Galaxy 10 devices. Check out the telegram links for up to the minute updates, as that's where we all are. I can point you to the guy who did the device trees for ginna

DataBinding with Navigation Drawer

Started using DataBinding in my app. Was moving right along until I tried to update my main app (which is built inside of navigationDrawer. I cut out all of the controls as they are not an issue and binding lets me access them just fine. The problem is that the nav_header_main contains a lot of controls that I need to access as well and I currently use findViewByID to get them. I believe the databinding is binding around the activity but won't let me access anything that's just inside of a layout (like the nav_header_main. Haven't found any good articles on how to do this so far so I thought I'd ask. Was also curious if having all of my views inside the nav_header_main was a bad idea. Don't know how else to get content into the drawer without using a fragment. As you can tell, I'm a java novice. Normally a C# programmer but decided to migrate to android programming.

This is my main app (trimmed to save space)

Java:
<layout>
<androidx.drawerlayout.widget.DrawerLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:id="@+id/drawerLayout2"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    android:background="@color/white"
    android:padding="3dp">

    <androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:background="#FFFFFF"
        android:padding="2dp">

        Textviews, buttons, etc... removed so this would fit.

    </androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>

    <com.google.android.material.navigation.NavigationView
        android:id="@+id/navigationView2"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="match_parent"
        android:layout_gravity="start"
        android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
        app:headerLayout="@layout/nav_header_main" >

    </com.google.android.material.navigation.NavigationView>

</androidx.drawerlayout.widget.DrawerLayout>
</layout>

Messenger is now called Work Chat?

That doesn't seem right - the newest version 313.0.0.15.119 from Google Play was updated 3 days ago, it's not old. I'd be suspicious of the higher version numbers.

If Facebook changed the name of Messenger to Work Chat there would be news articles about it, but I don't see any.

Also, post moved to correct forum :)

Thanks for moving the post to the correct forum; I'm not familiar with this site.
I have found a few versions above 313.
The first thing I did was search for Work Chat. There is an app with that name, but not at all masquerading as FB Messenger.
Anyway, it seems I have a correct version, and the latest of all the ones I've found.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Soft rock from different types instead of being "soft rock", full albums mostly - Fiona Apple I just digged through, now switching onto Radiohead - A moon shape pool album, I already download a ton of different styles too, video game music some, musical scores some times, heavy metal, just some at a time.. Lately just feel like a good chilling out albums too. Nothing too heavy or light.

Hi guys!

I love the doge meme. So, after the latest situations with dogecoin, I started creating the game Doge Moon Launch and it is just live at Google Play and App Store.

Doge_Moon_Launch__mobile_game_for_Android_and_iOS-1.gif

With this game, you can make your own prediction of the value, that dogecoin will reach.

How to play:
Doge makes his own rules. You can fly on the chart to right and also to the left!
  • Touch the right side of the screen to go right with the doge and his rocket.
  • Touch the left side of the screen to go left with the doge and his rocket.
Rocket also needs fuel from dogecoins. You must try to find and collect dogecoins to hit the best value.

I decided to create this game to be "very crypto" .. chart, whales, highs and lows .. even the dogefather!
My intention was to connect this game to the doge crypto community and bring more fun with good doge.

So please enjoy, have fun, be good, and if you have dogecoins Hodl!

Charge port cover/flap

I never heard of Google Cat phone. My Cat (Catapillar) S41 has a sim/sd port cover but isn't waterproof without it. The sim/sd tray slides directly into the motherboard, the cover is the only thing protecting from water & dirt. I hope somebody can answer if its still waterproof without the USB cover. Both the USB circuit board and headphone jack have o-ring seals inside, so I'm hoping that means they are waterproof without the covers/flaps, but the sim/sd are %100 not.

Audiobook disks

"audiobook disks"?? Are they CDs or something? What software and/or hardware did you use with the iPhone to convert them?

If they're only audio CDs, you can probably just rip them to MP3 or AAC with a PC or Mac, using iTunes or something.
Hi, thanks for the reply, the program I used was called "Markable" published by http://rightword.com.au/products/markable/markable2.zip
I believe the writer stopped selling the program some time ago when iPhone did an upgrade to the iPhone that he said he could not get to work with his program
