Blu g90 phone crash after Android 10 security update

I have a blu g90 only had for a couple of months Android 10 needed to do a security update so I allowed it phone was new to me shortly after screen froze phone crashed and restarted itself. Since then the square button on bananas bar which usually calls up your recent apps window or recent windows whatever you want to call it but no longer functions that way so essentially has no function anymore. However in gesture mode does the function not sure it's functioning properly although it's kind of hinky and you can only call up a couple of windows but that may be all that's running. So only on the buttons navbar does it not function any ideas? If it matters at the same time my SD card set up as internal memory stopped allowing migration of data or apps can't even migrate all the data that it has on their back to the main phone storage to reformat it as file storage. And according to phone I have two storage is the same amount of storage that is on both the internal phone storage and on the SD card individually. However I have another thread for that but trying to restore recent app functionality without a reset may end up having to do reset anyway but will take at least a whole day to reinstall upwards of 300 apps and to log into them and set them back up and then a week of working out things settings I didn't get initially so any alternatives for restoring functionality to the recent apps square button otherwise it's essentially a dead button and when I tried calling up recent apps to Nova Launcher Gestures does not work only way you can free synapse works is with launcher3 which was the default launcher on this phone not Google Now

Bluetooth issue

That's a problem, not an issue. Why are you afraid to use direct words?

There are two perspectives, here. One is, "My devices have worked together for years. They stopped working as they used to. Why, and how can I fix it?" Both perfectly reasonable questions. A next question might be, "What changed, and why?" Also a reasonable question, but not one that always has a single, simple answer.

Another perspective is that technological devices are complex and ever-changing. This is due to a lot of reasons, like the desire to add new features and incorporate new technologies, the need to continuously fix security issues that arise from continuously changing the hardware and software, the need to create and market new & more exciting devices to consumers, etc. You may not want to spend the time to fully understand the technical details of the answer. In that case, you'll have to accept someone else's advice when they say that you need to simply accept that phones change rapidly, and the easiest & cheapest thing to do is to adjust your expectations.

New features & methods are always being created. If those features & methods are adopted by phone makers, they eventually become standardized. When your phone was released in 2014, an older version of Bluetooth was in use. Older, very different versions of Android were in use.

It would be impossible for every device manufacturer to perpetually find and fix every compatibility issue with every new version of Android with every one of their devices. That's why phone makers have "end of support" dates. It doesn't mean that your phone suddenly stops working, it means that that's the point at which they stop fixing problems that come from using the device with new wifi protocols, new cellular standards, new versions of apps, new versions of Android, Bluetooth, etc. etc. etc.

So what changed with your car and your phone? Beats me, but one possibility is that one or other had -something- that updated, somehow. Or, it could be that something broke. (Have you tried other phones, yourself? Have you tried using your phone's mic with other devices besides your car?) It is possible to track down the cause of the problem, but it isn't feasible for a business to do that for you without charging you a lot of money for the expert labor involved. Your problem could cost many thousands of dollars to identify, and there's no guarantee that it _is_ fixable. (For example, some vendors have locked bootloaders and crytographically validated firmware updates, and they may forbid downgrades. There are reasons for doing that, too.)

Short answer: trust us when we say, "It may be fixable, but it isn't rational to attempt it. It would cost a LOT less to simply get a newer phone that supports current Bluetooth profiles and protocols." If your new (or newer) phone has the same problem, then you'll know that something broke. Otherwise, your phone is old, and no company can possibly support every version of everything, going back years.

I know it's frustrating, and it may feel like a conspiracy against you, but it isn't. (Usually.) Constant updates are unnecessary (and mostly undesirable) when it comes to simple machines. With complex, interrelated systems of many, many devices, all communicating in a variety of ways... you simply have to adapt.

You could buy a still-supported used phone, if you wanted, but be aware that by buying a three year-old phone to replace your six year-old phone, you may not get six years of trouble-free use out of it. Your carrier should tell which devices they support. Grab something newer. In the mean time, have your friends test out media & phone stuff. That'll let you see that other devices may work differently.

I hope you found my response to be direct. Remember, the fact that you're frustrated by the situation isn't evidence that people are trying to bamboozle you. I'm not. I have absolutely no stake in whether you get a new phone or not.

Flashlight app...

Does anyone make on that doesn't come on auto-magically? So many times I'm walking around and someone says "hey there's a light on in your pocket". It would be great to have one that takes a long press to activate. I've actually had to move the app from my front page because of this...

Pixel 3A Screen Replacement

I've owned a LOT of phones and nearly every phone has died an untimely death by way of cracked screen. This typically happens around the 1 year mark and I'm tormented with the decision of buying a new phone immediately, waiting for something I really love to come out, or having the cracked screen repaired. Never have I opted for that last option due largely to the cost of screen replacement on devices like the Galaxy S9.

I noticed that the Pixel 3A was awarded the most repairable Smartphone by Jerry Rig Everything:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/YqxrcEiFJtI?wmode=opaque

It really has me wondering:
  • How many have had a Pixel 3A cracked screen?
  • Did you pay to have the screen replaced?
  • Did you try to replace the Pixel 3A screen yourself?
  • Did you just buy another phone?
I've never considered screen repairability when buying a new phone but maybe I should? Especially considering the price and complex nature of upcoming devices like the Galaxy S20 Ultra. This has me considering the Pixel 4A but I wanted to see if people here have feedback.

I've got a whole box of phones in my cracked screen graveyard... maybe I should rip them open and try DIY screen replacement, for science?!

Curious to hear if the Pixel 3A screen replacement is as easy and affordable as he says.

I cracked my 3a XL screen. It was in my back pocket and I sat back against a dining chair. The good news was that it only cost me a cool £100 from a London based chain called iSmash.

Boost won't refund money or send phone

I'm starting to get with reality now :p

As it stands they now admit its back at a warehouse and you should have received it after March when you fulfilled the payment, but they can't prove they ever sent it as you received no tracking information. They agree you paid them.

From here.....?
When was the last correspondence?

March to September is 6 months overdue.
Maybe they don't have the model.

Demand something else newer/better, or seek legal aid or consumer advice. It sounds like no one is literally at work in Boost.

I wouldn't accept assurances over the phone. Send them an email with a demand and a time limit and get them to respond.

Covid enhanced incompetence perhaps.

I need help with subroutines (methods)

Hello,
In an app that i 'm writing i 've code that is the same for several views, it is code to save/load data in different files views are: parameters, history,personal info, medication. files are parameters.txt, history.txt, medication.txt
How should i create a kind of util class with code in for save/load data?
this is the code for history view:
public class geschiedenis extends AppCompatActivity {
public static final Object EXTRA_MESSAGE = "com.example.Gezondheidzlogin.MESSAGE";
//variables
String jaartal,diagnose,behandeling, titel;
EditText injaartaltext,indiagnosetext,inbehandelingtext;
@override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_inputgeschiedenis);
Intent intent3 = getIntent();
}

public void savedata (View view) {

//laad gegevens in in object voor te versturen naar verwerking
String jaartal;
EditText editText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.injaartaltext);
jaartal = editText.getText().toString() + ",";
//intent.putExtra(EXTRA_MESSAGE, jaartal);
String diagnose;
editText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.indiagnosetext);
diagnose = editText.getText().toString()+",";
//intent.putExtra(EXTRA_MESSAGE, diagnose);

editText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.inbehandelingtext);
behandeling = editText.getText().toString();
String result = "GESCHIEDENIS" + jaartal +diagnose + behandeling;
Intent intent13 = new Intent(this, activity_processing.class);
intent13.putExtra((String) EXTRA_MESSAGE, result);

startActivity(intent13);
}
public void startexit (View view) {
Intent intent100 = new Intent(this, startexit.class);
startActivity(intent100);
finish();
System.exit(0);
}
public void startmenu(View view) {
Intent intent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class);
startActivity(intent);
}
}

Android File Transfer constantly stalling + does not transfer files FROM iMac to POCO F1

What I am working with:
Mac Os 10.15.7 (and also previous version) on an iMac Retina 5K 2019,
Xiaomi POCO 11 (running MIUI 11.0.9), and
Android File Transfer 1.0.12.

For some reason, Android File Transfer (AFT) will not allow me to transfer my files from my iMac to the POCO F1. I have been trying for an entire day now, but nothing.

I have attached screenshots of the issues that keep popping up. AFT will start the transfer, but stops a few mins in with an error (actually, numerous windows of the same error - pic below) that it cannot transfer certain audio files. However, this was not an issue months ago when I transferred the SAME audio files into my POCO Music Folder.

I initially thought: maybe the audio file names have characters that aren't recognised by AFT; I changed ALL those file names. But as you can see in the pics, that didn't help either. I even updated my OS.

As soon as these errors come up, AFT stalls, and then tells me that my phone is not connected, and "File Transfer" (on the phone) is not activated... even though it was activated every single time.

So now, I cannot transfer anything to my phone, and have no music.
Is there any other freeware that is more reliable?

Your help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance!

What smartwatches have metal caseback?

I'm currently considering to buy a smartwatch, but through the reviews they seem to have plastic casebacks which I don't like.

So far the TicWatch Pro and Huawei Watch 2 have metal casebacks.

Do you know other smartwatches with metal casebacks?

Thanks.

I know that I am late to the party. The Samsung active 2 doesn't have a metal back but, it does have a glass back. It's a quality watch 👌

Samsung Ace GT-S5830i transfer of piccies

Sorry, Should have said I use a Linux Laptop don't use Windoze in any shape or form. So that didn't work.

Check you've got the MTP support library(libmtp) installed in your Linux Laptop. It may not be installed by default, depending on whatever distro it's running. Distros like Ubuntu may not automatically install MTP support, because of Micro$oft software patents, and you have to do it manually.
