Apps Android screen recording portion of app

I am creating a feature in an app in which the user can record their screen. So far, I've been semi-successful.

As a first pass, I tried recording screenshots then encoding them using JCodec. This worked, but the encoding was extremely slow on Android which made it unfeasible.

A second attempt was to use MediaRecorder but this records the whole screen, including the Android UI. The results are ugly and I haven't found a way to record only a portion of the screen using MediaRecorder.

So I'm looking for any alternative solutions or possibly a library that can crop video that isn't slow to process like JCodec. Any ideas?

Help Screen goes to sleep after 5 seconds

Have you tried restarting the phone? But could be a bug in the firmware though that Motorola needs to fix, because I had a very similar thing happen with an Oppo R11 once, the screen would go to sleep after 10 seconds regardless of settings, which was fixed with a subsequent OTA update
Yeah. Tried that. This has actually been ongoing for months. I really don't like this phone.

Is Poweramp hi res music player a relic to some, or do you favor Samsungs

I was never a Poweramp user. I've used Winamp through the years but it is no longer supported... at least I don't think it is. I stream SiriusXM so I don't really play my own tunes like I did in the past. I enjoy my own tunes but they were collected over a long span of time from many places. Some are so old that they are of lesser bit rate and they all have a problem of not being ripped at the same volume level. All that is eliminated with a streaming service but my library is larger than what they care to stream.

Notifications

It's the fact that the tab doesn't know that you've handled them on another device. Not an android issue as such. And TBH I don't see a way of stopping it on the tab except by turning off notifications on it.

I don't know what apps you have this with, but with my tablet (also less used than my phone, and often inundated with notifications when I turn it on) I will receive notifications for new unread emails, but not for those that are read. Which is reasonable: the server tells the mail client which mails are read and which are unread, but it doesn't know which ones I've received notifications for on another device (it may know that another device has downloaded them, but it doesn't know that that device has notified me or that I've seen it). This also means that with one of my accounts both my phone and laptop will notify me of new mails unless I read it on one before the other downloads (i.e. it's the same with my laptop, not android, as with my different android devices).

With calendar apps if an appointment has a reminder set all devices it's synced with will notify me. So again my laptop and phone will both do so, and my tablet if it's on at the time (but it won't notify me of things that have been and gone in the meantime).

Without knowing what notifications you have I can't say what's reasonable. I'm just mentioning those as two examples of cases where I get multiple notifications and would expect to do so.

If you want an example of unreasonable notifications, then Facebook is exhibit number 1 (it does know exactly what you've done on any device, but is quite happy to notify you about something you read 2 hours ago on a different device or even using a different app. They don't care as long as it gets you to open their app again).

Only setting speaker volume

I've been on a quest for a long time to set volumes based on location, like at home I want certain volumes set and at work I want my phone on vibrate. I've been surprised how hard it is to get it to work right when you throw bluetooth and headphones into the mix (mostly the bluetooth).

I'd like to set speaker volume when I enter or leave these locations but not affect bluetooth volume. So I track when bluetooth is connected but getting it to work right is still elusive. I think it boils down to timing, order of when things happen, differences in when bluetooth reports as being connected vs. when the volume setting applies to bluetooth.

Is there any way to ignore whether bluetooth or headphones are active and instead just say "I want the speaker volume to be X" so that once bluetooth deactivates or headphones unplug, the speaker volume is already at the desired level? In other words, would it be possible to have tasker somehow tell android to set the speaker volume rather than generically the media volume? (possible feature request?)

Any other way to approach this problem that isn't so fraught with complexity?

Horrible performance on Android Auto

UPDATE! I got a better cord at best buy. Unfortunately they did not have Anker. Well, they had an Anker fast charger but it was usb-c on both sides.

Is there a way to fast charge in the car AND use carplay somehow? My connection on the car-end is USB so I couldn't think of how to do that, but I am hoping there is a way.

I've not been able to with my factory setup, just barely a trickle charge.

Help LG G3 won't boot past battery / LG screen

I have the same problem. the battery is totally fine because I changed the motherboard of the g3 and it is running smoothly. I think the problem started because the battery ran out while the phone was updating the system and now, my best result was getting to the screen that says "updating apps 1 of 60" but after few seconds the phone died again. I could even let it go because I got the new motherboard but I really need the data on the phone. even in download mode it lasts 10 second and dies. any idea on how to get my data back if the phone is ****ed up? or maybe you could help me understand why it shouts down even if the battery is perfect?

Root Bootloop after successfull root

Well it might be better if you looked at CSC and PDA as specific identifiers for developers to keep track of each build they create. You don't need to keep fixating on that as it's for the most part irrelevant for what you need to do (flash the appropriate ROM to get your phone working again.), It's not unlike if you're buying a set of spark plugs for your car, pay attention to getting the appropriate ones that are made for your car's engine, don't worry about the bar codes on the packaging.

Yes, you're going to encounter hundreds of ver. 9 ROMs, but just to stress this point again, NO, only a handful of them are going to work with your model. Smartphones are generally similar in outer appearance but every different phone model has its own, unique hardware configuration on the inside. ROMs consist of software, drivers, firmware, etc. to correspond with only that hardware configuration. So again, no, you cannot use them all.
