Help TF201 EE Pad Update problem

I recently came across my old Transformer Prime TF201 EE pad.
However everything is now out of date on it (Haven't used it in about 7 years) and I cannot connect to most web sites.
I have a strong internet connection but I think my browser is out of date.
When I try to do a software update I get an internet connection error. When i try to get to asus.com I get website not available, playstore gives me a couldn't establish a secure connection error.
I am assuming this is because my browser is no longer supported, it is the one that came pre-installed on the unit when I first bought it back in 2012.
Does anyone know how I can get a more up to date browser installed without internet?
I have tried rooting the device but again I get this internet connection error when I run the unlock device tool. (Unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue)
I have trawled through youtube and tried everything I have found, but without the internet connection I seem to be stuck.

Rebooting

I have a Samsung Note 9 with a slightly cracked screen which is now rebooting. However, the rebooting is not random.

  • It does not reboot if I'm using the device
  • It does not reboot when charging
  • The rebooting is a loop repeating every 5 minutes or so
  • When I'm using the device, the battery drains normally
  • When left unattended in the reboot loop, the battery drains to 0 in about an hour
My short-term fix is to remap the Bixby button to start an app called "Digital Clock". If I remember to do this when putting my device down, my battery lasts all day.

FYI: I've researched this extensively. Its not security updates, auto reboot, etc...

Reinstalling apps on lost/recovered phone

Hi everyone

Long story cut short... my son lost his phone in June and I blocked the SIM and IMEI, and also factory erased it via Google Family Link (or something like that) thinking it would never be returned. Then someone handed it to the police and I now have it back in perfect condition. Replacement SIM is working fine and I can install new apps, but I can't launch or re-install existing apps.

Under Settings > All apps > it shows 100+ apps, including stuff like WhatsApp, Chrome etc.

Under Google Play > Username > Manage apps and device > Manage > I can see loads of Not Installed apps listed, eg WhatsApp, Chrome etc. But some of these show 'Not available for device' beneath them and some of them don't. But in Play, none of them show up as incompatible.

And no matter if I try Force Stop, or uninstalling them, I cannot re-install them. They show up in Play, so I click Install and they download but then refresh to show Install again. No app icon appears on the home screen.

Phone is a Motorola G9 Play.

Any ideas on how I can fix this because I'm keen to give this to my son up and running with all his games etc?

Thanks

Bluetooth on the '16 SL has an Android issue.

Even when the phone is inside the home and the car is parked in the garage, my Bluetooth no longer connects to Android but works great with the iPhone, thus Bluetooth is definitely working well. Nissan claims that nothing can be done and that it is caused by a software update on my Android. Has anyone have this problem before and managed to fix it? I'm hopeful a solution exists.

App to Track Elapsed Time for Multiple Events

I do multi-day fermentations on various kinds of foods. Is there an Android app that would let me track each batch of beer/wine/food that I am fermenting over the course of multiple days?

As an example, say that I am testing three beer formulas, and I want to track the elased time for each of the three ferments. I would want this app to let me create three timers, name them, and then have them all continue without preventing me from creating a fourth timer later. Does that exist?

2 Months in, still some questions.

Hello all. Overall I am really happy with my GP6P, but still there are some lingering questions.

1: In the notification bar on the desktop, where tapping "Missed calls" would take me to the phone app where I could see the calls I missed, now it does nothing.

2: In the drop-down menu that contains the Internet, Bluetooth, Flashlight, Do not disturb, Alarm, Airplane mode, and other adjustable features, I find that it is WAY TOO EASY to accidentally touch the "Do not Disturb" or "Airplane" mode thus rendering my phone dead to incoming callers, or data. Is there a way to remove these from the drop down menu, or disable them altogether to avoid this?

3: Sometimes on different websites, using chrome, I get "flutter" where instead of being able to scroll down a page to new content, it just keeps "fluttering" the same section of the page over and over again. Anyone else experience this? ( This may be a chrome issue, but it never happened on any of my other phones)

4: Still can't make "Alarm Extreme" app my default clock and alarm app.

Any Ideas appreciated.
Thanks!

Help All my files suddenly deleted

Hello, does anyone have experience with nearly all your files being suddenly deleted? I woke up and went about my day, to check my phone and find my over 1000+ files in my download folder have all my deleted/is missing, barring about 11 files I've downloaded since the 11th of Jul. Naturally I'd like them back but I'm not sure where to even start. I haven't installed or downloaded anything since yesterday, and as far as backups go I only have one from yesterday morning which apparently doesn't help. Any help on where to start would be much appreciated.

USB File Transfer

Hello. So I'm looking for additional ideas. I'm trying to transfer a large number of photos from my phone to my computer via USB cable. When I connect the phone to the computer I can't get the phone to show up in file explorer. I have tried every idea I can find online. I've tried different USB cables and different computers; it is the same everywhere, every time. When I pull down the status bar on my phone there is no options for charging or file transfer. I searched through every setting function on the phone and can't find anything labeled charging or transfer. I've adjusted and tried different settings on my computer as well. I've updated drivers, restarted both computer and phone - all to no success. I'm running Windows 11 on the computer with a Moto G Stylus with Android Version 11. The only thing that has worked so far is linking my phone to my computer so I can operate the phone through the computer, but this would require transferring the almost 400 photos one at a time by hand and I'm not keen on doing that. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Help Pixel 6 pro hardly Professional NO MANUAL CONTROL FOR CAMERA

Recent purchase of a Pixel 6 pro has been very disappointing for me. As a life long photographer I feel cheated. The camera maybe ok for the point and shoot crowd but not what I would consider as "Pro". The jpgs are too processed and artificial looking and the RAW function is limited. Video is also very limited by the auto only functions. Panorama photo functions are useless. My old Samsung S9 does a better job on this.

Is there going to be an update or app to address these issues ?

CMake Outdated in Android Studio

When running the Gradle Sync command in Android Studio...
upload_2022-7-13_10-19-12.png

I get an error message that the CMake is outdated.

This happens even if I remove cmake from the command line. So it seems that cmake is embedded into Android Studio. So how do I update cmake if it is part of Android Studio somehow?

Need a solution for a door problem

I could use some brainstorming from the clever folks here. I have an issue with my bedroom door and it's not the end of the world or anything, but I'd be happy to find a solution. Here's the story....

We have to keep my bedroom door open about 6" so my cats can go in and out. The door is only shut all the way when we need to keep pets safe when outside doors are being left open, like when the floors were being refinished. Otherwise, it's partially open. Our dog is much bigger than 6" across, and she has to come and go, too. The way I have it now is a makeshift do-it-yourself method: a 10-pound dumbbell inside a rolled-up bath towel (so it won't scratch the floor when it gets moved). This contraption is on the INSIDE of my room; IOW, there's a 6" space (or larger, after the dog goes in/out) that's open, with nothing between the door and its frame.

When the dog comes in/out, the contraption moves a few inches to accommodate her girth. I can't leave my door OPEN because I'm perpetually hot, and have a window AC unit plus an upright floor fan plus an upright desk fan...and if the door's open, the room doesn't stay cool enough (for me--everyone else claims it's freezing in here!).

We've also tried the opposite arrangement, i.e., the object blocking the door on the OUTSIDE of my door, between it and its frame, but quickly discarded that as it left the door wide open every time the dog came in/out.

What I'm hoping for is an ATTRACTIVE but functional permanent solution. You know how screen doors automatically close by themselves? Or doors in commercial buildings with those....pneumatic THINGS at the top, that slowly close them automatically. Something like that but pretty. And that would stop automatically at about 6" open. But could allow the door to be SHUT shut when needed. My super-clever handyman is not available right now; I *know* he could rig something like this and make it pretty, too, but he's not an option.

I've omitted WHY the current arrangement isn't good enough: every time a HUMAN comes inside my room, and then leaves, the door is wide open! They have no way from the outside to pull the contraption toward them to [partially] close the door. Yes, I thought about tying string around it and placing that under the door, but between the cats, dog, and people, that's just NOT going to work!

Any and all ideas are gratefully welcomed. Sketches, too, if you'd like to show me visually.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but what else would you expect from me?! :D
