Root Unrevoked for Incredible (Recovery reflash tool/Easy root method)

Is there a step by step somewhere for this. I am on a Mac. I downloaded the file and it doesn't do anything. It says connect my phone and enable USB debugging.

It worked for me quick and painless. I had been trying since the beginning of the month (when the phone finally arrived) using every tut and method I could get my hands on. Thank You UnrEVOked!!!

Well I'm just going to ignore all the questions and be a ginea pig and try it. I just updated to the 1.47 software and now I'm starting unrevoked3 on my Win7 x64 system. Will let everyone know if I run into any issues.

Mike

Does anyone know if unrEVOked3 includes Wireless Tether or Superuser Permissions, or will those need to be added separately?

Wondering the same. Got it to go through the process but do not see tether anywhere. Total noob here

Well this "painless root" is starting to get painful. reflash.exe ran and did about 4 steps and then gave the "communications lost... Try again." error message that they mention on Twitter. So, as of right now, doesn't work for me. I may go try my older XP system.

Uninstall HTC sync and it should work for you.

Noob to this type of root. I previously had a G1 and rooted with CyanogenMods method, but this seems different.
Could someone just quickly let me know what Unrevoked3 will do to my incredible?

Uninstall HTC sync and it should work for you.

Did that already: before starting the process. I uninstalled both HTC Sync and the HTC driver installer via Control Panel. I did get it to work on my XP machine so I'm up and running now. Wasn't too bad in the end. I think I'll post my own Evo/Windows specific instructions in another thread seeing as I'm in the Incredible thread.

i am getting communications unexpctedly interrupted, i guess i have to wait for an update bc looks like this is a error that many people are having or I can do some else to by pass that?

no uninstalling will not work, the communication error is a KNOWN WINDOWS issue as stated on Unrevoked (unrevoked) on Twitter they are working on a fix at this time. tho to be honest this does give you root but not perma root.

*edit* there is a work around for this if anyone puts the payload update zip file from the original root method then after your into the clockwork recovery you can just use the zip file to finish, this will get you super user but not wireless tether as that needs to be done manually.

*edit* on more time this is not the way you should go through but using the zip file does work. If you wish id suggest waiting for the tool to be 100% and make sure it goes through

So I came to work and tried it on my computer here and it goes to the screen saying
Flashing Recovery Image don't touch your phone.
as it's restarting it just turns on like normal and goes to the home screen. So I didn't touch my phone left for 30minutes came back and it was still at that screen, so I tried restarting unrevoked and got the same thing. Now it's been sitting at the regular home screen for 15minutes just as it would any other time

Does it matter that I'm using a BB Micro USB cord my puppy tore up my stock Incredible one. Ohh and my work computer is Windows Vista

Sounds like there's a known glitch on at least some Windows machines that they're trying to iron out. If you all can find a Mac, that's your best bet in the short term by the sound of things.

AHHH SHIT GOT ROOT FINALLY

There was a couple files lurking on my computer from previous rooting failures.

I just earased and uninstalled everythign Android , HTC , or Blackberry related from my computer and BAM ROOT!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone with all the help they provided this Noob , this community rocks
THANKS!!!!!!

For those having driver issues, try using USBDeview to uninstall all versions of any Android driver previously installed. When I fired up this tool in my PC, it detected 7 different Android ADB driver installs! (from past unsuccessful attempts I guess). After cleaning up through USBDeview, I got the right drivers going.

Do you remember which files you deleted and/or their location? This might be key to other folks having similar issues. Especially those who have tried previous rooting attempts.

Yes, I download pretty much everything to my desktop at first then move it. But I had the folders from the "Incredible Easy Root" on my desktop I deleted all of that then I had uninstalled HTC Sync but when you uninstall Sync it doesn't uninstall the drivers I had to do that seperatly that was just in my Start Menu.

Then root was done withine 2minutes

glad yo got it working... people having problems should really try and uninstall everything that has old drivers still installed

Okay so I got my root back and Titanium only works if it's unplugged. wtf

thats bc you are mounted to you pc when plugged in unless you select charge only

Amazing! I just rooted my phone! Wow!

I installed Incredilight and it works. When you run it, an app called Superuser Permissions pops up telling you that it wants root access. I now have a flashlight!

I did it using a macbook with OSX 10.6
I have pdanet, but i just exited it. Didn't need to uninstall. I did uninstall double twist but not sure if you must.

So friggin sweet!

I just used the Unrevoked3 root/reflash it worked great! 30 seconds had the phone done!..I did a nandroid backup and downloaded Titanium Backup, Titanium works great also! now, I download Wireless Tether from the market, installed and ran the app, it asked for su permission and was granted, the app was running, I turned wifi "on" on the laptop and it found AndroidTether ssid, i connected, all I get is a full signal with an yellow exclamation, no internet access! what am I doing wrong? I am using windows 7 Ultimate version.

Ok, i think i got mine rooted. I have the superuser app and incredilight installed and working. How do i get wireless tether installed? I tried the method in the 10 minute video but i dont have the folder android.tether showing up. I'm using Astro to look for it.

Nevermind, I found it on the market.

I got rooted, tested the incredilight, wireless tether and made a titanium backup, sweet.

I want to run the nandroid backup now, how do I get back into the clockworkmod recovery screen?

EDIT never mind ran adb reboot recovery from the sdk and got it.
