Root [ROM]Cyanogen Mod 6 Nightly

If I install this ROM, does it have the ability to update when they send out a new nightly or will I have to keep reflashing the new rom until they go into true beta?

I would check out ROM Manager, although you need to buy the Premium version to get updates from within the app. It makes everything a bit easier.

I'll wait for the release candidate, but you guys are more than welcome to test out the nightly's.

I've been using it all day and I'm definitely happy to have Cyanogen on my phone again. Froyo is blazing fast and the camera's work. FPS is around 43 or so,and you can overclock with setcpu. The battery goes a little faster then on some other ROM's but I got through most of the day needing a re charge at around 5PM (came off the charger 7AM this morning) but as long as I can get through the work day I'm happy.

It requires a cache/dalvik wipe. So lets say I do that, but want to revert back to how fresh is on my phone right now. I'd have to do another cache/dalvik wipe...and then...?? Flash the basics of my current ROM then do a nandroid restore to get back to where I am?

Did you load the rom on with RomManager? I got the premimum and see it there, just not sure if I'm ready to make the jump :)

this is the best battery life i've had on any rom so far. it is very fast. updating my radios seemed to make my 3g signal worse by looking at the bars i have in the notification area but i did a speed-test and it was faster...

the rom is still missing some things but if you dont mind re-installing apps if you have to when new nightlies and eventually the first official release come out then i would recommend it. lots of really cool features and ADW.launcher is pretty cool.

i have an epson 003 and i get like 11mflops and around 49-51 fps average.

does 4g work on this build? i havent even tried, i just assume it didnt...? also, do the custom lock-screen music controls work that cyanogen was tweeting about? can't seem to figure that out yet.

thanks

id be okay with losing senseUI but you also lose the 4g toggle, and theres no free one on the market that ive seen

I am currently running fresh 1.0.1 with no issues. I have rom manager and tried to install but it gives an error and says it can't find the file. is anyone else having this issue?

I'm not happy it's happening to you, but at least it's not just me. I am going to try just downloading the rom to my ad and manually flashing.

I just downloaded the rom directly from cyanogen's site. if I am going to use the download from sd option in rom manager should I rename the rom to the updatepcimg36.zip or just leave it and point to it from the app?

Well if it works for you maybe you could help walk me threw it or something. I just did my very first root tonight.

just did my first yesterday....I don't know how much help I would be. I just tried pointing to the file without changing the name and it failed. I am going to change the name and try again. I will post back.

This is hardly a stable or tested ROM. I flashed it earlier today but had issues. It's to be expected. Went back to Fresh for the time being but hopefully they get a final CM6 out soon. Cyanogen really doesn't pull any punches when he puts out his finals. In the meantime, Fresh and Damage Control (among others) have some great ROMs out that really improve on stock in lots of little ways.

What do you like better, Fresh or Damage control?

i tried this rom earlier today and liked it but flashed back to fresh. i was missing some of my apps way to bad. not to mention i can't stand adw launcher and launcherpro isn't ready for froyo yet. can't wait for the official release.

Just make a nandroid of your current state then if you want to go back to it all you gotta do is restore.

appreciate it. just did it no problem

cyanogen scored me 10.8 fps on nena. linpack was fine but was really hoping for a better nena score. its around the same as stock.

For some reason, when I rooted my phone it installed a 'newer RUU' than what these nightly ROMs search for when they load from the Recovery. So every time I try to flash Froyo onto my Evo, it errors out because of my RUU's version number.

1. I can rewrite the updater-script file in the ROM, but I don't know how to repackage the files into another signed ROM (I zip and sign it, but it doesn't work)

2. I can downgrade my RUU, but can't seem to find how to do that. Anyone know?

3. Cyanogen can remove this validation from his Nightly ROMs. :-)

Has anyone had issues with the top status bar disappearing from their home screen with this ROM? I'm guessing it's a quick keystroke or something else I'm missing, but I can't seem to get it back.
