Root [ROM]Cyanogen Mod 6 Nightly

im still mystified why people want to use this rom. i mean, its going to be speedy, but any of the other ROMs out there coupled with a number of kernels make the evo lightning fast. I lean towards this being a rom for AOSP purists but who knows

I put the Cyanogen mod on my HTC evo 4g and I want to get rid of it. If I just flash the ROM that I saved before I put it on will it work or will it get messed up. I have been looking everywhere and I cant find out how to get rid of it. please reply and tell me what to do. thank you.

I'm assuming you mean you made a nandroid backup. If that's the case then yes, you can restore and it should be back to whatever previous stage you saved it at.

I don't know if it was a nandroid back up, is that what happens when you use the app ROM Manager. I'm not such a tech nerd so I'm don't fully understand with all of the tech terms. And if thats not what it is, can I still do it?

If you used ROM manager to create a backup, and it rebooted the phone into recovery to make that backup, you made a nandroid backup. You can simply do the opposite to restore what you had. This is, of course, assuming everything was successful (it would have said so). Install ROM manager if you don't have it, then select the option to restore a backup. You'll see a list of backups to choose from. Select the one you made before flashing CM. Keep in mind that anything you've changed since that backup will be wiped out, and replaced with exactly what you had on your phone when you made that backup.

Thank you so much to SoFLO and azakabam! I just have one last question. When it removes everything from my phone, does that including everything that I have saved on my SD card

No, it doesn't touch the sdcard, with the exception of .android_secure, which it uses for apps2sd.

OK, thanks. I don't care about the apps though because I have an app call titanium backup so I can just reinstall them. This website is great, I only made an account on here so that I can ask how to fix my phone but I'm going to ask all of my questions about android here. thanks again to SoFLO and akazabam.

No problem. If you have any questions, always feel free to ask.

nope. neither do the FM radio and the HDMI out. I think I'll wait until those issues get fixed. tempting though...

Its not worth it, this ROM is an over all pretty good ROM but if you like those features then I wold wait until a- there fixed or b- cyanogen 7 comes out for the Evo, my friend has the my touch 4g with cyanogen 7 on it and it has 4G capabilities. I'm not sure about the FM radio and I don't know if the my touch even has an HDMI out, but he can definately use 4G. I'm actually removing cyanogen mod because of the 4G
