Gorilla glass on the Droid X ???

Ok, so now mostly everyone has had time to play with their Droid X, and yet everyone is still worried about possibly scratching the screen on their phone. My question is does the phone has gorilla glass or not?? I saw some Youtube vids where a guy takes a key to the screen and tries to scratch the hell out of it. Yet, not a single visible scratch is seen.
Can someone verify that it does have gorilla glass and therefore doesn't really need a screen protector other than for smudge proofing.

Asked an answered several times already, But. Yes, the X has Gorilla Glass just like the original Droid.

Yes it does have gorilla glass. Does this mean it can't be scratched? Of course not. It's up to each person how they want to protect their phone. Personally, I have a screen protector on mine

What brand name are you using? I bought a Skinomi, after trying Zagg, among others before. Thanks

Right now I'm just using a standard one from Verizon. Debating on getting one of the really nice ones from the mall but this works for now at least

I had one on my iPhone for a while but then took it off. After 2 years I had a few light scratches on the screen but nothing that was all that noticeable....and it has gorilla glass too

I just put the Skinomi on. Instructions said i was suppose to turn it off for 24 hours. F that. Why do we have to turn it off for 24 hours?

I have a Steinheil Ultra Crystal on mine. Love it. I'd prefer not to get any scratches on it at all. Honestly, when it comes down to it, it's incredibly hard to scratch the screen to the point where you won't recognize it. The most scratches you'll probably get on the Gorilla Glass are from particles of sand that produce minor scrapes you won't even notice unless your screen is off.

With that said, it's personal preference when it comes down to if you want to have ANY scratches, be it minor or major, on your device, and I choose to keep this thing in pristine condition. :)

That is all.

I dropped my original droid about 5 feet and it landed flat on its face on rough pavement, No case or screen protector. The screen was perfect but the case surrounding the screen was all scratched up. So I am a big believer in Gorilla Glass.

I posted yesterday that my screen scratched somehow - as I've been awaiting the shipment of my screen protector. I'm very careful with my phone, but sure enough have a scratch already. Still waiting for my screen protector to get delivered as well. Truly frustrating. Long story short though, these screens can get scratched.

I have done the same exact thing...no scratches! But I still am paranoid and scratches bug the hell out of me, so right now I have the verizon anti-glare protector, it is nice to feel, but it makes the beautiful screen look terrible. So eventually I will get just a 3 pack for 15 bucks somewhere or something. I think most screen protectors are the same, and I suck at putting them on.

Last night when I was really tired, I accidentally dropped my phone straight onto the corner of a Wiimote (I heard that unmistakable hollow 'thud' of the screen making contact with it) and then it contnued its tumble onto the carpeted ground.

Picked it up, and checked it over. Nary a scratch anywhere, and it seems to be working just fine, touch sensitivity and everything. I'm sure if it was the iPhone 4 with its glass backing it probably would have shattered.

I really trust the screen. I don't have to worry about it at all (obviously I'm not just going to put it with my keys in my pocket). I just treat it as if I would with any other cellphone and it's just fine.

I'm guessing one of the nice ones from the mall is an invisible shield by Zagg. Those kiosks are wayyy overpriced. You can go to zaggs website and enter their ipad giveaway and they'll send you a coupon code. 20%-50% off. I ordered a full body for my Droid X with the 50% off code and it was 12.50 plus tax and shipping. Those kiosks typically charge around $35-$40.

I'm also using the one from Verizon, but it doesn't cover the whole screen. It only covers the display - not all of the glass. So I'll be getting another one to replace it soon, too.

Is there any official word from Motorola stating they used gorilla glass on the Droid X? Lot of people were swearing that the HTC Incredible had gorilla glass when in fact it DOES NOT

Why start this again, I cannot confirm one way or another on this, but didn't HTC say they have it.

Andrew Munchback from Boy Genius Report says he e-mailed Motorola and this was their response:

Hi Andrew -
DROID X uses the same type of glass as DROID. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Motorola DROID X user guide leaks online Boy Genius Report

It does seem odd to me that Motorola/Verizon aren't more actively touting this feature if it's indeed true.

I could care less either way, NO there was never an official word about gorilla glass on HTC only a supposed HTC rep telling someone they had it. As far as I can see no official word from Motorola saying gorilla glass is on Droid X. You would think this would be something to flaunt or advertise...

I never was successful finding a matte screen overlay for my Droid, and I'm assuming I'll have the same luck with the Droid X- but in case there's something out there, has anyone found a matte protector for the Droid X screen? While it dulls the screen a bit, it doesn't show smudges nearly as much as a glossy overlay.

That might be worth a try. I just got the ultra clear one and love it.
