Droid has been waiting for alot longer than us.
But how long do you give them.A week a month maybe several months.Chasing bugs is a never ending process.You need to strike a balance between chasing bugs and releasing the product.

I am saying they should release it sooner than later even if they are SOME bugs.
Yes but Droid X was sold based on it being updated to 2.2 Droid was not.

Got my activation code from moto today. It may be a problem on the phone, but instead of ignoring it until they eventually fix it at least they are giving you a $20 app for free.
It was stated from the very first announcment of the Droid X on June 23, 2010 that we would get the upgrade in LATE SUMMER. We still have awhile left for summer to end.
I do not see any information anywhere that differs from that.
I would like to add, that I would rather wait longer and have it running smoothly than have them rush it out the door buggy.

Anyone else think they should have took the time they are spending on the 2.2 roll out for Droid and used it to fix the bugs with Droid X.I think this time could have been used to correct the volume bug the Exchange bug and of course all of the bugs that we are led to believe is responsible for the September roll of Froyo for the Droid X.Flame away

I think people need to stop comparing apples to oranges....that is what I think being that you asked.
Motorola has acknowledged some issues and stated that they are working on fixes for them. The roll out for 2.2 to the Droid was already in the pipeline and planned. As for Droid X getting 2.2 in September, that is what was stated on the announcement day for the Droid X - LATE SUMMER....I don't see where that has changed from that statement.

Those teams are entirely different and both have been in development for awhile.
Nothing has changed.Unless you only have one person working on the update it should not take 2 months to roll it out.95% of the work is all ready done with the Droid 2 release.Same phone different case.
I guess its a good thing the Droid team seems to be a lot smarted than the Droid X team.Droid X team can't even deliver a update that was allready 95% done with the Droid 2 release in the time it took the Droid team to build a complete update for the Droid.
Watch, as soon as Froyo releases for the Droid X, the OP will be complaining why Gingerbread is taking so long, and that Motorola needs to direct resources away from other phones to get Gingerbread on the X.

I would love to have Froyo as much as the next guy, but you seriously need to relax. Better yet, if you think it's that easy, you should join motorola's development team and help them.

IMO, this is pure ignorance. I'm going out on a limb here and have to assume you have no idea about designing and updating firmware. Firmware updates are not trivial things that can be done on the fly, no matter how "done" you think they are.

What's painfully clear in all of these Froyo complaint threads as that those complaining don't know anything about large scale software development and deployment.
Complain all you want, bottom line is you'll get it when you get it, all the whining in the world won't make it happen any faster.

You do realize that the Droid, the Droid X and the Droid 2 are all DIFFERENT PHONES......right?
If you are not happy in any way with your Droid X...return it and get a phone that has a smarter team.
I am perfectly happy with my Droid X. I think Mororola is working on fixing bugs that have popped up, and I think they are working on the fix at a wuick pace. I am also confident that we will get 2.2 when it is time for us to get it.

The Droid is simply older. The older phone = more updates. This means that the developers are more aware of the capabilities of the phone and its architecture.
I assure you they are working hard on it, but this phone is 100% new, so it will take longer then the Droid 2, which was a rehash of the same thing.
I would rather wait longer for a well done update, then get a quick, incomplete one.

Ok so you really believe there is that much difference in the inner workings of the Droid 2 and the Droid X.There must be some serious flaws with the X if they can't be overcome in the time is has taken them to design the firmware for the Droid or the Droid 2.
