Root Custom recovery on x!!!!!!!

Thanks again, sorry for all of the questions, I'm learning as I go. One more for now, how do I go back to the stock font? I'm finding the font a little too "thin" for smaller text.

Well, I would ask fab in his thread, I am sure he saved but I don't know if he has turned it into a .zip yet to be installed in recovery. If I knew how to make a file into an update.zip that would install from recovery I would. One other thing I could think of is if you don't feel like waiting is to try installing his back to stock zip but of course then you would have to redo a theme if you have one.

So from a recovery standpoint... as the backup process creates 'image' files of the cache, apps, and system area... does Kouche's recovery know to pull all those files back in based on the particular backup directory selected or do we need to recover each image independently?

Old news. Birdman and Rainabba (http://alldroid.org) have had a working recovery environment (albeit, no pretty UI) for days. Hey @Koush, that's a nice build of busybox you got in there. Where'd you get it? That person was really thinking when they included all those useful utilities that most people don't.

Its hard to tell through a computer but I sense some sarcasm

This thing is blowing up on twitter

If your not with me on this then don't follow me, it might hurt some feelings. Its not intentional but mere fact. Time to stop the drama.#RT

Then give it, but I doubt anyone is going to share a spotlight if they used someone elses source, #FoodForThought

We can't run together as a community, especially if all we are going to do it point fingers and not respect open source. If credit is due...

Always do nandrod backup first from recovery and then you can restore to go back

I did a backup when I first installed the Bootstrap and before applying the font. So I can just do a recovery through there to get the regular font back? Again, I apologize, but this is all new stuff to me.

Yep. It will return your phone to the way it was before that backup. It's great for when you try a ROM and decide you don't like it, or something, you can just go back to the way it was before. You can even have multiple backups saved.

I always save my first one off to my PC also just in case I need it down the road.

Thanks, just restored it and the stock font is back. It worked great.

We all know I think Koush should be giving credit for the method of getting this recovery onto the X. I think not doing so is bad form. I've lost respect for Koush for not maning up and giving credit where credit it due. Koush didn't want to work with Bird and Rain and now I guess we all know why...

Did koush really steal it. After all he is the godfather

Unfortunately I have to agree, I really like Koush but this whole recovery thing made me pretty mad considering birdman is the one that got it all rolling.

He used Bird and Rain's metod of hijacking the boot process and hurried up and ported his recovery to it before Bird and Rain could finish theirs and then gave them no credit for all their hard work and sleepless nights...

thanks thats all I need to know.:D I can already see sides be formed
Those with koush and those with alldroid:(
How did he steal it?

That's one of the best features of recovery. It makes it very hard to F up your phone and very easy to try stuff and then go back. You can even use it to slowly configure a different ROM but go back to the one you have set up until you like the other. Just make different backups for each ROM and you can basically switch back and forth.

OK, I thought I did a backup before applying the font change, but it says none are found. Anybody know how to go back to the original font? Thanks in advance.

My guess is they were discussing it with him not thinking that he would try and steal their thunder. Like I said they asked him if he would like to work with them on making the recovery and he declined. They've had this working for over a week now but they were working on the UI (which obvously Koush has had down pat for some time now). They wanted to package it up really nice for us and then Koush comes a long and shits on their parade. IMHO he should have waited until after they released their version...

If you really can't find the backup then Fab said he is making a zip that is just the stock font, so you might have to wait till tonight

I refuse to install this. I'll wait for Bird and Rain to release theirs.

Oh and BTW Bird just said that 2.2 for the X is rootable using the expolid with only a few minor tweeks...
