^^idk man..theres just a minor scuff/scratch on the very edge of the phone..prolly nothing wrong but i can't stop thinkin about it haha..after the 30 days, if i drop it again, i'll just cry lol..but ima go and buy a case too haha..that was my bad
Fair enough. Sounds like a case is a good idea in your case...of course now you gotta pick a case style/design :p

Keeping mine. I liked the X, but the Fascinate's dispaly and ergonomics appeal to me.

I'll admit there is some buggines in the phone, such as it blinks to the lock screen and back again randomly, but going to wait til OS update to see if its fixed.

I came from a BB Storm I, so this phone is a trememdous improvement. Will probably keep until next upgrade. Simply a feature rich and beatiful phone. But the Droid X is a close second.

My boss returned from a trip to Spain and showed me pics he took on his Captivate. They were stunning and they looked great on the SAMOLED screen.

Made me regret returning the Fascinate. :(

Oh well, we'll see how I feel after the Droid X comes. Still no email notice that it had shipped yet (ordered by corp store on 9/17).

The camera is not as good, for videos or photos, and the phone is noticeably more bulky. But remember that I consider the Droid X a tie with the Fascinate. It has things that it does better, too. Feels more solid, slightly larger display, best mic and antenna system in the industry right now, and a serious, no nonsense Google Nav GPS experience without having to get rid of Bing, and with way fewer reported GPS issues, and a one-click root that works flawlessly, and "unworks" when you don't need it anymore.

Got my Droid X in yesterday and set it up today. After 9 hours, I believe I'll be very happy with MY choice to return the Fascinate for the X.

I like the big screen a lot, I like the fact that I can use the Home button hard key to wake up the X, it's easier to press that instead of the power/standby button at the top of the device.

I'm going to have to get used to the hard buttons though. I've soft pressed the hard buttons more than a few times like I'm used to pressing the soft keys on my Droid 1 and on the Fascinate.

I've had to reboot the X a few times though for various glitches. One is the X didn't detect the usb cable to charge the X or when I wanted Mass Storage Mode.

I can see how a few people had a hard time deciding between the two devices, as they are both good. ;)

Man, I rarely had those glitches with the Droid X, especially USB ones. It was rock solid, and instantly registered in whatever mode I chose, unlike my crappy Eris. So far, I haven't used the Samsung is much on USB on the computer. It worked fine while I was rooting it! :D

If you like your Droid X now, make sure you do the Universal Androot, and apply launcher pro. I actually liked the resizable clock and weather widgets (and even the stock calendar) that came with the Droid X, but sadly, if you want to maintain their resizability when using Launcher Pro, you have to buy Plus, even though it's a STOCK feature. Regardless, I was going to buy it just to support the dev and how awesome launcher pro is. It goes over the motoblur and makes the phone seem MUCH faster and smoother.

Another very huge feature is that launcher pro gives you five rows of icons instead of four. Four on such a large screen (even taller than the Fascinate!!!) is such a huge waste of space, in my opinion, especially with resizable widgets at your fingertips.

Hopefully that helps you with the Droid X. If it wasn't for the Fascinate, the rooted, launcher pro'd, bloat removed Droid X would be the ultimate phone for me. Only a SuperAMOLED screen and a better ergonomic design could possibly have torn me from my beloved Droid X!! ;)

You know I was messing with this. First I added the fifth row, nice. Then I tried six and it was too much but then I dropped the text labels. Then I added the fifth column. Kept going ridiculously till the option for 10x10 but then the icons are really small. 4 columns x 5 rows does seem to be the sweet spot with the text labels and 5 x 6 without. Any more is too bunched and too small

I've already rooted the X with Easy Root, but have yet to get a working recovery with the backup option. If I understand correctly, I need to install bootstrap to get CW Mod recovery installed?

I already use LP, but I will migrate to LPP soon. ;)

Got the 2.2 OTA update tonight. The X is amazing with froyo running. Screen scrolling is much smoother now, and the Android MT keyboard is seriously fast now. Before, the keyboard had lag and I could not type too fast on it due to lag. Now the keyboard keeps up no matter how fast I type.

If I remember correctly, the Fascinate had keyboard lag as well when posting in forums.

If anyone is on the fence about keeping the Fascinate, the X has froyo now and it is amazing. :)

well had high hopes for the samsung....but not gonna sit here and deal with paper weight...its def going back im either lookin at the incredible or the X forget this thing

LOL!! Well let's just say that I have been in phone hell for the past two weeks working/resetting/ tweeking/playing with my Fascinate! I have spent countless hours dealing with this thing and researching whether or not I should switch to the Droid X (which will be arriving to my house today or tomorrow)! I am serious, my husband is about to lock me up in the crazy house!! lol!

Most of the things that I was having problems with I was able to resolve....well after 3 factory resets and hours of "playing" with my phone. Note: I haven't rooted my phone since I just don't feel I have enough experience to do so unless I have someone walk me through it over the phone

- resolved audible alert of text mess while on voice call by using Handcent
- resolved intermittent audible voice mail alerts and MAJOR bugs with factory reset and resetting my vm on the verizon side (think we got this working ok)
- weird bugs such as loss of time and force close during one particular text message hopefully fixed with factory resets??
- my battery usage improved with factory reset?? np there!
-took off Buddies now since it was sssooo buggy for me!

Lately, it has been behaving (I'm holding my breath) except it....

-WILL NOT sync with my isp email acct.
-LAGS during typing text messages (drives me crazy) and when shuffling between home pages.
-my screen keeps getting brighter, then dimmer, then bright again - just seems random at times. I was reading an ebook last night and it kept changing. One question here......what was the concensus about which phone had the best screen for reading books from Kindle and such??
-google navigation did take time to load and I could barely hear it! Useless.
-I just hate the fact that I have been dealing with a very buggy phone!! Evertime I use the phone I'm waiting for it to Force Close or due something quirky. I just don't trust it! lol

I did get chance yesterday to try out my friends Droid X in real life (not tethered to a store display). I have to say I liked it, a lot, and I didn't even mind it being heavier and bulkier although I think the Fascinate "fits" me better. Things I liked better:

-liked the keyboard better/faster/more accurate. This is due to the keys being a bit larger due to screen size
-Loved the LED light on the front for notifications
-will provide an audible alert while on a voice call with stock sms package
-liked the camera button better
-liked the pop up indicators (at the bottom) for switching between home screens better
-seems to be more stable since many of the bugs have been worked out and now with 2.2 it is even better!

What I didn't like as much:
-didn't care for the hard keys compared to the Fascinates soft/touch keys. Not terrible, but just prefer the touch keys better. I feel you can move around faster with Fascinates keys. This is big for me.
-ergonomics, just a more square heavier phone. Unsure about the hump. On one hand I like it, it provides a resting place while on a call and a grip for pulling it out of your back pocket, on the other hand it added bulk. The weight too in some ways I liked, in other ways I didn't. I have cover on my Fascinate so that changes my comparison. The X was naked.
-I just felt the UI was easier on the eyes on the Fascinate. Fascinates screen is amazing (although not leaps and bounds better than the X) and the menus/icons/screens are just more colorful, sexier, slick ?? than the X. I feel as a first time Android user that the Fascinate provides an easier learning curve. I like the Home Keys (better on the Fascinate than the X.

Knock-knock...FedEx guy here with my new Droid X!!!! OMG! Now I got to decide (within the week)! Wish the X was activated so I could "play" with it in my real life then decide. Ahh! lol!

Oh wait, what I didn't happen to say is that I want to LOVE my Fascinate!! It is a beauty! :D Just gotta work out the kinks I think! lol!

Froyo is a significant boost to anything. People were lukewarm on the DInc but once it got Froyo there were a lot more people trumpeting its greatness. The DX will be ridiculously good with Froyo. So comparing an Eclair device to a Froyo isnt a level playing field. Now having said that it likely is a few months until our SF's get it....officially

You can get into the phone and play with it without activating it. You won't be able to place test calls without activating it (dang CDMA...) but you will be able to test the phone out otherwise - wifi, screen, responsiveness, etc...

Follow these instructions:

1. When you see the welcome screen with the droid icon you're supposed to touch, tap the top left corner of the screen.

2. Tap the top right corner of the screen.

3. Tap the bottom right corner of the screen right above the gray bar on the bottom, the one with emergency dial and language buttons.

4. Tap the bottom left corner of the screen, again right above that same gray bar.

Make sure you tap, not drag your finger, and then it should let you in to play around with it and compare a bit.

I originally Voted wait and see....I have to say after a week of using it, I'm keeping it! how long is the question? Who knows 2, 3 maybe 4 months! I go through Phones pretty quick! I'm a phone geek, what can I say! I most likely will keep this phone until something of LTE flavor comes out. As of now, one of the best phones i"ve used on BIG Red.

Let's face it. 2.2 on the x is far superior to anything and everything on the android market..including the Dinc. Go look at the Inc forums. I see more users cussing it than singing its praises.

I updated early this morning and I am happier than a pig eating you know what. As always, more than ever. The X > fAsCiNaTe. LOL.

Check this out.... My EVO has been picking up 4G for the last 2 days here in Brooklyn NY. The EVO with Froyo, even with some bugs is really fast on 3G, beats my dads Incredible with Froyo, and my cousins Droid X with 2.1 everytime. Now put 4G into the mix and the EVO is just so friggin fast. So me being the phone geek I am, I put my Fascinate right up against my EVO rocking 4G and Froyo.... Guess What? The EVO won, but get this, not by much, not by much at all, by like a mili second. I duked them out for a few minutes, and all I kept saying was...If the fascinate is this close to one of the fastest phones around right now, whats going to happen when 2.2 does go on it.....Fastest phone around comes to mind!

PS...I will say I really like the Droid X, and I'm sure it's silky smooth, and running super fast....But I would like a show down with the EVO, X, and Fascinate all running official 2.2 builds...That'll be interesting!

Knock-knock...FedEx guy here with my new Droid X!!!! OMG! Now I got to decide (within the week)! Wish the X was activated so I could "play" with it in my real life then decide. Ahh! lol!

Well, I have gotten to spend some time with the Droid X the last day to get a little feel for it. The phone isn't activated, so I can't do a lot of things but I could access the settings, type a text, flip through the home screens and access the applications tray. Like I said earlier, it is a SUPER NICE phone and it really is making the decision very difficult. Splitting hairs here! But in the end, I am 90% certain that I am staying with the FASCINATE! Here is why:

- Form factor - Droid X is heavier and more bulky but overall not bad. HOWEVER, the phone kept slipping out of my hands while typing a text message. I had to keep adjusting my hands so I wouldn't drop it. Each time I adjusted the phone I had to stop texting. Possibly a cover would fix this but I found it troublesome. The hump on the X didn't bother me at all. As a matter of fact, I think I liked it as a "grip". In the end, the Fascinate fits perfectly and the ergonomics/form is just better, well better for me that is.

-Texting - Contrary to my first experience with the X at a friends house, I had a harder time texting on the X. This was a surprise to me! I am a female with a medium build. I have long fingers but I found the larger keyboard required me to stretch my fingers to reach the keys compared to the Fascinate. The space bar was a bit of a stretch for my right thumb so I kept putting in . for when I meant to space. I made far more mistakes on the X and found the experience "more work". This was a big discovery for me. I even asked my medium framed, med hands husband to try it and he reported the same. Nice keyboard, nice screen though. So, in the end, it just depends on the person and if you fit the X or if you fit the Fascinate. It is just important that your really spend some time prior to purchase trying it out if you text a lot. BTW, after turning of haptic and sound on my Fascinate keyboard, I don't notice ANY lag in typing. It was those two things that lagged, not the keyboard itself.

-Physical keys - However, the thing that probably was the biggest finding were the physical keys. I just found that they were more difficult to use, esp one handed. I did like the Home Key awake feature, but overall, I couldn't just reach down with my left thumb and press the keys I wanted easily. Guess since the phone is a tiny bit larger and heavier, this stretch was a little more difficult. I also didn't care for the amount of pressure I had to place to activate the keys. With the Fascinate you just tap and move along. Moving around the phone and using the touch keys seems to me just faster with the Fascinate (not on home screens which in my case lag). Yes, the keys on the Fascinate don't stay lit very long (hope that changes) but soon you learn where they are. Plus, like someone else mentioned, the keys clicking while I was playing on the X was a little annoying to my husband who was sitting next to me watching tv :D

- Responsiveness - I have to give this to the Droid X. I certainly could move across the home screens a bit quicker and easier on the X. Not sure if this is a bug with my Fascinate and I have not applied the lag fix (I'm not a super tech unfortunately, maybe in the future though), but I am hoping to get this corrected. Don't think everyone is having this problem. I was unable to check browsing with the X since I wasn't activated. Also, I do like the Applications Tray on the X better than the Fascinate (Techie terms??). I also like the poup tool to move between home screens better on the X. The Fascinate's dots at the top are just too hard to select.

-Screen - I also have to say that I really am torn about the two screens. Both are really really nice, just different. You just have to take a hard look at them and determine which works for you. If you plan on reading on your phone make sure you take a look at a downloaded book to help you make your decision.

-User Interface - The X is nice, more masculine looking coming out of the box. Think in this case I like the UI of the Fascinate. More colorful, user friendly feeling. Although, the systems are much the same. Torn here!

- LED notification light - X!

- Camera button - I prefer the X's physical key. I just don't care for the on screen camera button on the Fascinate. My 8yr had a hard time working with it while taking pictures at a school event the other day.

-Other notes - the email sync now works on my Fascinate - good! Using Handcent for SMS for on voice call notification. The reception on my Fascinate has been excellent! My Fascinate hasn't Forced Closed in days so good on that end. Changed my screen brightness to a set brightness instead of auto since it kept adjusting on me

In the end, both the Droid X and Fascinate are great phones! And now with 2.2 coming out for the X it might even be moreso the phone for you. For me, it all goes to form factor/ergonomics of the Fascinate that works better for me. It is slightly smaller, lighter, and has soft/touch keys. But like I said, it is a TOUGH decision. I keep taking the X out and playing with it and reviewing my previous findings.

Now none of this has to do with the techie side of the the X compared to the Fascinate. That is what you all do best. I'm just looking at things in the big picture. Possibly if my phone was rooted and the lag fix applied and things changed I would be married to my Fascinate completely. But, for now I don't have the skills to do that, so I gotta love it with the tweeking I can manage to do. Hope that all helps or at least gives folks looking at the things to consider.

Back to playing with each phone! Just one more time :D Can I keep them both?! lol!

love the device; but have to do more testing w calls to gauge quality. I voted keep; but might be leaning towards the middle. Wife complains when talking to me via Speakerphone and tried a few calls today via BT+JBII and totally garbled :-( Have to try my older Jabra BT headset and see if any better luck.

idkk...this thing is just too sweet for me to give it up..no phone does it the way the fascinate does it

X..too bulky and big, has bigger screen, but i like quality over quantity...both got a 1ghz processor, but hummingbird>snapdragon...perhaps motos antenna/mic > the fascinates, but i have yet to hear anyone complain about the call quality, and i get 3-4 bars everywhere i go in my city..

i keeps it

You're echoing many of the same thoughts I had when comparing the two phones side by side, and I'm coming at it from a guy's perspective with fairly good sized fingers. I used swype on both phones when comparing, so I didn't really find much difference texting than that the Fascinate was easier and more comfortable to hold on to while texting, like you said.

For web browser tests, just hook to wifi and load the browser. It will try to take you to some verizon crap, but you can just type in google.com and go from there.
