Software Update Coming to Fascinate, i500.DI01 (Not 2.2)

It still amazes me when I think back to how quickly the Eris was exploited and before we knew it 2.2 ROMs were being posted at the XDA forums and elsewhere.. I ran Nonsensikal Froyo 5.6 for weeks.

I'm thinking that we'll be seeing Froyo ROMs for the Galaxy series including Fascinate pretty soon.
Pretty soon......:o......

THANKS! I can't believe I spent the past hour trying to figure out ADB to re root it. All I did was follow your advice to use the one click method again and it worked in the first try (5 mins). Awesome.

Not exactly the phone shipped as 2.1-update1. What you wanna look for is your build number. DI01 is the new one D12 was the old one.
Setting>About Phone>Build Number [the very bottom]

Sorry I posted the firmware version. Yes I my phone is now functioning under build number SCH-I500.DI01

So has anyone elses google maps and navigation disappeared after the update? I found maps on the market to download again but now I don't see navigation on there.....

:D
Does anyone else who updated successfully have this?

That doesn't sound good, I do not have this problem. Sorry to hear about, maybe someone will figure it out. I would probably do a factory reset, but who knows if that would make it worse...

I didn't unroot, maybe I should have to be safe but oh well. Rerooting literally took 2-3 minutes. I was debating rerooting or just waiting, but just in case I want to tether or do something I can't normally...I'll know its there!

Yeah, you are updated and lost root. The apps won't disappear from your phone, they just won't work unless you are rooted. Just redo the same process you did initially to root. In this case, redo the one-click root.

Did you guys have to "clean" anything off your SD card or do any special steps with the one click root? I wasn't sure if it matters that I have "leftover" files from the last one click root or not?? I assume it doesn't matter and just follow the original steps to the "T" to re-root.

Thanks for all the feedback and advice, seems like there's a lot of good people floating through the Fascinate forums!

Just new to the SF community here. Hi everyone!

So I just got my SF today, and it has been updated with DI01, and I'm planning to root with one click root

Can someone help me understand what flashing clockwork recovery and odin? Are these two things something I need? Thanks!

I didn't delete anything or clean anything up. I just updated, noticed Root Explorer and Wireless Tether wasn't working anymore (even though the lag fix was still patched on) and rerooted. Checked the apps and they work properly again. I just followed the instructions for the one click.

If it matters to anyone thinking about rerooting, I used the long method originally to root because one click wasn't out yet. I used one click yesterday.

I don't think so, unless you mess up. All I did was follow the instructions here:
How to Root - Android Forums

If you want to learn more about recovery, check this:
Clockworkmod Recovery - Android Forums

Pretty straight forward. Btw, your link doesn't work but I believe that is because you don't have enough posts yet...anyway, welcome aboard!

dam...uninstalled ProLauncer still gets stuck on "updating modem"..on my 6th try..countless reboots..battery pulls..Fk this..

Veez, you do have wifi off right? Sorry if someone has already asked you that. The OTA won't take with wifi on.

yea bro, got it off..idk what the deal is..idk if the update is even worth it now haha..guess i'll wait for froyo...

Hmm... I un-rooted just to test the un-root method linked here, and received the update about an hour after that.

I just ran Caffeine Benchmark:

Overall score: 12768

Sieve: 9581

Loop: 15890

Logic: 169731

String: 5036

Float: 5878

Method: 5665

Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Linpack: 8.138 MFLOPS
this benchmark is with root and lag fix?

I'm getting "server unavailable" when I check for new updates...anyone have this problem? I just read the last page and nothing...

nevermind, found a post in another thread. thanks forums :)

Mine keeps saying "server unavailable, check back when server is available" whenever I try to check for the update. Any ideas as to why? I don't have wifi on. My build number says SCH-I500.DH12

The modem hangup is happening to a lot of Fascinates. I have tried several times to do the update and it fails everytime. I even did the factory reset and the same failure happen. I called Verizon yesterday and she had no idea how to fix it. The more people who call, the sooner they will fix this. I do not want any problems like this to keep from installing 2.2 when it hits. So call verizon....

Do you have Wi-fi on? I heard that interrupts with the update check...

I just noticed on another forum that someone made mention that they pulled the update. I have no idea how reliable that info is. Allegedly they are having issues with it and that is what provoked the pull. Can anyone confirm this?? I have not updated as my phone is perfect right now and I don't want to screw it up......

I hope they pulled it. I tried to decline it, and now it keeps trying to force itself onto my phone that is working PERFECTLY FINE. This is stupid. The update isn't even for the common issues many of use are having, and it doesn't address a single minor gripe that I have against the phone. The issues it fixes are issues I have never seen, and the issues I would like fixed are nowhere to be seen on the list. The issues I've read about most here, many of which I don't have, aren't even on the list. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

I think this update is to unroot us, and nothing more. And it's pissing me off. The phone is sitting here, screen off. All of a sudden, it pops up with an error message saying the update server is unavailable, after I've cancelled already more than once - it's still trying!! How do I make it stop ... I'm lucky the server's unavailable right now, I guess.

SirKronan- I agree with you. My phone is perfect and I'm not going to risk it. There is not anything that the update did that will make mine any better than it is. I'm sure you have already, but when the update screen shows up on your phone, do you selected "Decline"? It tired several times to down load on mine as well. I selected decline and it never tried again...
