Root [ROM] n_i_x's MIUI - "Complete UI Overhaul"

This(v0.3) is my favorite ROM so far and I have tried a bunch. The one thing that bugged me a little bit was the lack of message alerts. A light bulb went off in my head and I came up with this: Since we can't get into the phone's directories through the pc, I figured I might be able to edit the ROM itself. I unzipped the ROM to my desktop along with another ROM that I had on my desktop. I opened the system folder of the other ROM and went into the \media\audio\notifications folder. I clicked select all, then copy, and I opened the same folder of the IncDoes ROM that I unzipped and I pasted the notifications in there. Then, I re-created a zip that now had all the notifications in it and moved it over to my sd card and installed the ROM like usual. All notifications showed up after I installed v0.3 and they work perfectly!

For those that love the Rom but miss the launcher check out App Categories in the market. Its free and does a good job filling in as a launcher plus you get the added benefit of organizing your apps for quick access.

Thanks for the tip. Had no choice to reboot by that time anyway but I felt better after reading your input. 0.77 hboot and 7/28 radio here. Checking out the ROM now. I've been avoiding this one but curiosity finally got the best of me.

So did you get the status 7 error and it said installation aborted? If so you can scroll with your optical mouse up then down twice through the entire present screen menu and you'll get an option to "Go Back" bring you back to the "reboot" option.

So what's the plan for Ti backup? System data or no?

Be careful here. What I do is a "Restore missing apps and data" but before it begins I go through and uncheck anything having to do with any google apps and flash. I only restore the apps I've dnld'd and that data within them. I'm just wary of restoring any system data as that could bork your .3 install at least that has been y experience :)

2.1? what's 2.1? 1.2 was the highest before IncredibleDoes pulled it and went back to the drawing board after the 1.1 boot loop fiasco.

now 0.3 is the current version

I'm guessing he is mistaken and referring to ID AOSP FRG33

I got a bunch of google related FC's. Still saw some Chinese after the English patch. Contacts didn't show up in dialer. Apps hung when downloading in market. Maybe I'll try not restoring system data. I'm up for a project today. :D

Yeah, I got the error just like you said. Just rebooted and all was well other than the aforementioned glitches. I'm trying again with a cleaner restore from Titanium. I'll build everything from scratch.

Let us know how it goes :-)

For the english patch install did you first wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then flash the ROM, then boot up and setup wizard. Afterwards reboot and install english zip

Yeah, I did a full wipe + dalvik for the Rom, then installed the English patch after boot/reboot. I'm getting ready to batch restore only apps/data and I'm wondering if I should consider unselecting Sense 1.0?

Seems like 0.3 is just 0.2 with the 1.2 update and english translation pack we already had, just rolled into one :( Same issues before, and no really new fixes (besides BT which was done with v0.2->1.2 as well).

I'm trying it now, without system Data, I have more problems when I restore with system data, that I don't even back it up anymore.

Pretty smooth this time around. Google Voice setup was a little glitchy but finally got it. Made it part way through setup and it closed. Used system panel to force close, then I could reopen the voice icon and finish setup, otherwise couldn't access via the voice icon.

Pleasantly surprised to see that Fancy Widget and Smooth Calendar work. Launcher Pro borks all kinds of things so I'm trying to figure out how to arrange/get used to the native launcher right now. Cool UI though, I'll say that much for now.

Yes uncheck anything related to sense

Honestly I would just restore your apps (I even went so far as to installing my missing apps straight from market one by one). Then restore the data within those user apps. This way you can cancel out slowly but surely what might cause your system to bork or not to bork.

It's a nice change of pace for me. I love LP+, but this is refreshing and simplified imo. I just created 4 folders (you can creat a 5th for misc apps) and put them on my 2nd screen. I use 2 screens.

I have done the exact same thing only I use 3 screens. Beautiful UI thats for sure.

Thanks to both of you. GMB for the tip and Skorpios for not jumping down my throat for not noticing earlier material. Refreshing change from other like venues.

I might also add I'm loving the ability to swipe down the lockscreen bar from left or right of center and go straight to phone or texts. Especially in the case of missed texts. Nice.

No problem. I know how it goes sometimes. I follow so many threads, sometimes its hard to remember what I read, where I read it, and to what it related:D. Besides, I feel that if I'm going to take the time to respond to a question, I might as well try to provide something useful even if it is to point to the answer provided by someone else.

Which Kernal allows you to OC in SetCPU? I've tried Koosh's Test and Adrenalyne's AOSP U/V?

(I'm new to SetCPU so i don't know if I can change settings to allow it to OC. I do know when I was using a Sense ROM I was able to just slide the slider to 1.15 and it was stable. Now will all the Kernals I can only go to 998)
Thanks.

Besides that I love this Rom. I setup the battery to be the little bar up top and its sweet. I wish we could see our Contacts in dialer, but it may not be possible since the dial pad is so large. Still you can minimize the dialer and there is a Contacts button on your right hand side.
