Android 2.0.1 Findings!!!

happy overall with the improved speed of the notifications panel especially and also somewhat on the app drawer, but not as much on screen swiping.

The unlock tabs are fugly though.

Just installed the hack 2.0.1 on the forum and I have noticed they must of made the sweet spot for the soft keys bigger. They appear to be easier to hit.

Are you describing the normal operation of the "proximity sensor" as being a "problem"?

What he described was NOT normal operation of the sensor. The screen should turn back on immediately after moving itg away from his face.

Only weird thing I'm noticing now after updating (manually from the zip) is that the lock screen times out after like 5 seconds regardless of what the screen timeout is set to. Other than that it's awesome, much quicker and more responsive with the home screen and menus.

That's a good thing imo. I set the screen timeout long enough to read stuff without the screen turning off. With the lock screen, I only need seconds to unlock it so if I leave it on by mistake, I'd rather the screen shut itself off to save battery power.

browser seem faster to anyone else? using Dolphin here.

Also pressing back didnt make me reload the last page, that's an awesome change. EDIT: nevermind still have to reload some.

Also have yet to encounter the "tap to click something and the phone thinks i scrolled 100 pages down to the bottom" bug.

BINGO you just found the elusive battery life saver in the update hahahaha.

Aight just got my replacement. I checked to make sure that I got a 45/09 instead of a 40/09. Now I just have to wait to get another update since I lost it when I exchanged phones. Hopefully I dont get anymore forced closes with deleted messages as tomorrow is the last day of my 30 day trial.

I got the update last night too, and one thing I've noticed is that when you go to settings -> sound and display -> and click on the screen timeout option, it now allows 15 secs, 30 secs, 1 min, 2 mins, 10 mins, and 30 mins.
However, U don't see an option for "never timeout" which was there w the O.S. 2.0.

I'd leave it on never time out at night so 4 my alarm to go off the next day - I dunno if I'm doing somethng wrong, but I noticed that if the phone goes into sleep mode cos of the screen timeout, my alarm doesn't go off even though it's set.

When i unlock the phone, it shows the alarm on the taskbar like it did go off, but it doesn't wake the phone and me up if the screen's timed out.

anyone else notice this, or have a solution?

BTW, my quick impressions of 2.0.1 update are:

WiFi connects MUCH faster on my secure WiFi AND connects when BT is active (wouldn't before without turning off BT, then WiFi on , the BT back on)

Camara is much faster.

Overall snappier in everyway.

Haptic Feedback is "stronger"

Sync Contacts seems to be working again properly (has been hanging up and getting stuck on syncing contacts with Gmail)

VERY, VERY Happy!!

What he described was NOT very clear.

Which is what he said it did.

No, he was quite clear, YOU were just too eager to jump down his throat.

THIS IS BEFORE THE UPDATE!
Is anyone else having issues with the screen fade out during a call. During a call I literally have to set the phone down on a flat surface for the screen to reappear before I can select the button to bring the keypad back up. This is a pain when using voicemail. When I take the phone down from my ear, it fades in and out and wont stay on long enough for me to bring the keypad up. I tried one of the "keep awake" screen programs but they don't work with the phone keypad. I wish I could just turn it off.

Now, if you weren't so busy playing forum cop (for a phone you don't even have or are getting rid of ) then you would've comprehended what he said, plainly.

Having to place the phone down on a flat surface to get the screen to reappear is NOT normal operation of the proximity sensor, got it? :)

No, I posed a question, given that he didn't give a full description, the proximity sensor is a documented issue, and his description didn't come across as if he knew there was one.

I was eager to hear a response.

There is an "Applications Test Mode" in the main settings, which allowed the screen to remain on. Not sure if its there post update.

Updated via zip file here. Is it just me or does scrolling in the browser seem to be a little slower? I notice mine stuttering when I flick. Just doesn't seem as smooth as it was in 2.0.

On this forum or all websites? There have been reported lag issues with the Droid on this site...mostly a notable delay seeing letters as they are typed.

am i the only one that is having problems with facebook?
my contacts wont sync into my phonebook and in the facebook app its self in the news feed it just says "facebook user" instead of their names...

My facebook was fine after the upgrade...I had to re-enter my log-in info, but things looked normal...

Maybe try a power-cycle.

Noticed that a bit in Dolphin but wasn't sure, the page load & render times seemed a bit faster however.

don't know how many people used to have this problem but...if i would go to a contact in my phone book...alot would show multiple facebook profiles even though they only had one...but that has been fixed

To the folks who have received updates - were any of you having POP account issues prior to the update and if so, have they been corrected? Thanks.
