Oh I'm so glad you asked that. I think (fill in the blank) really sux, but (fill in the blank is the very best), no matter what anybody else says.

Btw, I put this in the Lounge where it'll get noticed and locked much quicker for you. ;)

My kid has a new Mac laptop after having a Toshiba with Vista on it for a long while. Ask her the OP's question and she'll rant for an hour about "Windows junk," etc. ;)
 
I've never gotten into any apple product, I dont find them very user friendly at all. OSx just doesnt cut it for me. windows is just as easy and if you use common sense you won't get a virus. the iPod line just doesnt look nice to me and iTunes isnt too great either. I do give them that their laptops are attractive devices. Another big grudge I have against them is their pricing. 6k for top of the line Mac PC that is no better than a 2k pc/hackintosh. then again im not the type of person macs are marketed towards.
 
I hate Apple, and have no issues saying so. The reasons are numerous.. I won't get into them here.

That being said, I brought home an iPod Touch 4 last month and really did fall in love with the damn thing. However, after not being able to connect to ANY wifi networks out and about (but I could at home, and my netbook could connect just fine with all the wifi nets that the phone couldn't), I decided to bring it back to the store and hold out for an iPhone.

I desperately wanted an iPhone, but when my husband brought home a smartphone and I got to playing with the Android OS, I began to realize that there just seemed to be so much more that I wanted out of Android than there ever was over the software on the iPod Touch (which would have been similar to the iPhone had I ever tracked one down).

So I brought home an Android phone and have not regretted it for one single second.

We did get my husband an iPod Nano 5th gen though that he loves. We needed something without too many overt hard buttons on it as his workplace is quite dusty and that's where he likes to have it. Other than that, we really avoid Apple like the plague.. and I'll stick to Android from now on. My hopes are in the future of the OS and that we might see Tablets in the future running it.

i really prefer windows for computers and android for a phone OS. I got the ipod touch 4 and really like it as a music player, but it has definitely convinced me to NEVER buy an iphone. I can't change any settings on the damn thing! It's the exact opposite of customizable. I'd like to be able to have my songs always shuffle within an album or playlist even when I choose the first song. (Android doesn't do this either) And on another note it would be nice to have a physical button to skip songs (so you don't have to unlock the touch screen) Just my two cents!
 
I have no problem with apple, if the iPhone was on T-Mobile, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

I have a friend here at work who is an iPhone fanboy. He figured all of their products would be just as wonderfull, so he bought a Mac to replace his home PC. Within a month he had sold it and gotten a new PC. He hated it, his wife hated it, his kids hated it. It was all around a very poor choice.

I've used Macs a few times, but never OS X. To put it mildly, I disliked the experience. :cool:

I like Apple sometimes. I'll admit that I like the OS. I don't hate the iPhone, it's a good phone, just not for me. The iPad is nice, although it could use some adjustments. Apple is good at what they do, and they are the perfect fit for some people.

I myself bailed on Windows a few years ago and have been using nothing but Ubuntu since. Can't afford Apple stuff lol
 
Love my MacBook Pro. It's the best laptop I've ever owned. It's more about the quality of the build over other laptops I've owned. I like OSX but I also have a Windows 7 desktop that runs like a champ. I don't think one is better than the other.

I dumped the iPhone and I have a 6 year old 20GB iPod that still works great. I have no use for an iPad and don't plan on ever purchasing one.
 
I'm a decent fan of Apple, although I wouldn't have a problem switching away from them in a heart beat if something I found better came along.

I boot Windows 7 on my MacBook most the time because, despite what Apple fanboys might say, if you want to get shit done, you need Windows. I also prefer Outlook to iCal, because it syncs up nicely with my Windows Live account. That's not to say I don't LOVE OS X, because I absolutely do. I've had zero problems with it, ever.

I also plan, once multiple calendar support comes, to purchase a Windows Phone 7 device, as I think Apple's business plan of pandering to the casual crowd with only one phone will eventually destroy developer interest for the more hardcore crowd.

Yeah but sometimes you have to ask yourself, is having an OS that really doesnt do anything worth the hype? (productivity-wise, and the recent adobe stuff on OSX blows compared to windows7)

For the most part, yes. I mostly use my computers for media conversions, ripping software, and recording audio. I always found on my Windows machines the rips and conversions of DVDs to be unsatisfactorily slow, and would frequently crash my computer. I'm positive there are better Windows solutions, but I've often found the programs to be expensive and generally still slow down my computer. As for recording, for some reason this industry caters toward the Mac community recently, which can be a hassle as there are a lot of good Windows recording programs, many of which are free.

Have you tried DVDCopy for windows? It's a bit old, and simplistic, but it works o..O It even breaks DRM.

Conversions It all depends on your GPU really, I run Preimere Pro CS4 Just fine on my core i5 dual-core/quad thread with an ATI Radeon chip.

And on my dual Xeon setup, it's lightning. Same for Blender.
 
I've noticed that Mac is good for media, Windows is good for gaming and productivity. It depends on the user though. I get by just fine using only Linux :)

This is not true, I do quite a bit of media production (mostly through Adobe and Open source stuff) from windows. And it works.
