Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

Having problems with bluetooth as well. Phone will only connect to bluetooth audio, not phone and audio as it normally would.

Update: Did a battery pull and all is working as it should now.

Anyone else with this issue? I did a battery pull but am still having the same problem. When I manually connect my phone to my Kenwood bluetooth it connects fine, phone and audio. If I leave my car, come back, it reconnects automatically, however just audio, not phone. If I manually disconnect and reconnect it connects phone and audio again and works fine.

Not sure why it won't auto connect phone.....any suggestions?

I was actually going to update my post again. After trying to reconnect the second time, only media would connect. If I turn bluetooth off and on again, phone and media both will connect. Not sure what to do, might try and start from scratch with a fresh install and see if that makes a difference.

Great, it's way faster, but it crashes randomly.
Couple times when using google voice, and a few times just out of nowhere (sitting on home screen or lock screen even).

Sometimes it also gets locked up and/or freezes, but it usually solves itself within 15 seconds or so.

Any suggestions?

I did a 2.1 SBF --> ROOT --> 2.2 update.zip --> ApeX --> ApeX RC2.
I had done this a few other times with FlyX so I have experience getting root to stick from the 2.1 to 2.2 switch.

I would guess that you have something that stuck around from a previous ROM or OS version... I still think a fresh 2.2 SBF > Root 2.2 > ApeX RC2 would fix your problems.

I did the 2.2 SBF -> root -> Apex RC2 and I still get random reboots. I think this is more a problem with the OTA than ApeX. Moto has already acknowledged there is a bug causing random reboots.

So how do I open the .SBF or my Nandroid to extract the stock SMS files from it? I've not received any word on how to do that yet. :\

If you do start over again let me know what happens. I'll probably follow suit if it works. Curious though to see what fab says.

Definitely having bluetooth problems with this build. If I delete the Bluetooth pairing completely and go through the re-pairing process, it will connect phone + media, but then if I lose that connection (turn off the BT device, go out of range, whatever) it won't connect again. I got it to connect sporadically by toggling BT on and off but most of the time it didn't work.

I tried doing an OTA SBF and a clean RC2 install and I am still having Bluetooth issues. At least the new build of rubix came out to tide me over. I can't be without bluetooth as I am on the road and on the phone almost all day.

Any ideas on what is going on Fab?

I've had no issues with either phone or media connecting to my car. (Ford Sync)

Yeah, but clearly a few of us are having the same issue. I'll try another wipe + install tonight.

It went on as clean a phone as it could: I SBF'd, wiped cache and user data, then rooted the fresh install before doing the RC2 install.

Yep, I did another clean install and the problem persists....I haven't seen Fab around to comment either so I really want to see if this is something he can fix possibly. I love the ROM otherwise, but this is a royal PITA.

I never had the reboot problems on 2.2 non rooted. Now I'm rooted using this rom and get random reboots. I was talking on the phone and it actually rebooted and I looked down wondering why the person wasnt responding and my phone was rebooting.

are you running the OTA/SBF with the new system and kernal? or are you running a leaked 2.2?

Hey Fab, any way to get the other Car Home back? The one that came with the phone where you can add an app. I really miss having Pandora added on my Car Home screen.

By the way I'm running this with NexTheme and Beesley's 1.38 overclock and it is amazing. Thanks for your hard work.

You just have to install that APK with the install script as noted on the first page in the instructions. Pretty straight forward.

OK, so I have been on this since Sunday morning. I did one reboot on Sunday night after installing all of my applications. I have not rebooted, or had the phone reboot itself. After adding LaunchPro and deleting the other launch it actually seems even faster. Yesterday my battery life was crazy good, 60% after 14 hours, today it is even better 4 1/2 hours and I am still at 90%. This is with about 50 texts back and forth today, Tweetdeck updating every 9 minutes, weather updating every 30 minutes and 3 Gmail accounts syncing. This is by far my favorite ROM and I have tried all but Birdmans. I also have not had any bluetooth issues either. I came from leaked 2.2 back to 2.1 OTA 2.2 then the other ROMs but installed like the instructions said.

@Fabolous

I have two DXz, one is working fine, but the other, after installing the ROM, the signal meter only shows one bar or no bars at all. Haven't really investigated whether I can make and receive calls since I installed it so late last night.

Any ideas?

Try doing a *22899.

I did, and it didn't help. I tried rebooting a few times, and still no go. It was like that all night. I woke up at around 3AM (about 4 hours after installation) to check the signal status, and still the same.

I just called my fiancee, and after a full charge, it seems she has 4 bars now....that's a little strange....I will continue to monitor it to see what happens.

Hey guys, I think I know what may be causing the BT issue. I'll try whipping up a patch when I get off work tonight.

If it helps you, I found that my car stereo will connect after maybe 3-5 minutes of being in the car, but it won't connect the phone portion, just media. Just found that out today - I don't think I had waited a full 5 minutes during any of my other testing.

Just eventually connected after I drove around long enough with my phone in my pocket.
