Root Elelinux RC1

Which one? The only one I've seen sounded like it would be pretty disastrous to try and use.

Yeah... I think I'll play it safe and wait for Villain's 2.2+ Sense ROM :P

The app is no longer stuck in the market after flashing :)

The first thing I notice with this new version is the new CM settings. The toggle widgets in the notification bar are pretty useful.

Yes Google fixed the marke its OK now here too. Can you make a screenshot of the new feature?
 
I've just flashed v2.2 onto my Hero and restored all my apps. With the CM6-optimised 691MHz kernel it feels even snappier than v2.0.

Only one minor issue so far - several apps in the drawer are displaying [][][][] characters at the end of their titles. This may be due to me using the custom fonts, although they've worked fine with previous ROMs. If I've time later I'll try replacing the stock fonts to see if that is the cause.
 
Seems like you guys are enjoying elelinux 2.2. I can't even get it up and running yet. Everything i download from the market says Download Unsucsessful.

I need to download Titanium backup to get all my stuff back on :). I guess the market will sort itself out over night. At least i have my contacts!
 
I'm still having market troubles can't download anything at all installed the rom yesterday hope its just the market playing up : )

I think there should be a sticky about market trouble....
From 99,99 percent cases its never the ROM. ITS always the google market...

Now its on different roms and devices acting up :)

It's fine with the Ubuntu fonts also, so the problem is either with the custom font pack (unlikely as it worked previously) or due to a bad flash. I'll be reflashing the updated v2.2 in a while so I'll see if that fixes it.

edit:
I flashed the updated ROM last night hoping that a dalvik wipe would suffice, but it nerfed Gmail and Maps. I did a full wipe/reflash this morning and it's been running sweet ever since. Haven't had time to try the alternate fonts yet, but the v2.2/BlackMod/Gapps update combo is solid with the CM6-optimised 691/176MHz FlyKernel-11.
 
Sheesh, can't they let a guy get used to the version he's running first? :D

The custom fonts issue remained after a fresh install, btw. Also, is anyone else seeing strange graphical corruption of the stock browser's address bar? It doesn't affect functionality but it looks hideous.
 
Does this rom have a mail app similar to the one on HTC Sense(one that's compatible with Yahoo) and does the trackball still glow when you have missed calls or email :p a bit off topic to your discussion but I'm always considering new roms.

Also, if I get this rom, will my phone be classified as "high-end" so that I could get "high end" games like asphalt hd etc...
 
Scratch the trackball notification thing, I found out. Just need to know if the mail app is compatible with Yahoo and if the Hero will be able to use certain apps that are for "high-end" phones if u run on Elelinux, from my understanding this rom seems to be based on froyo. Much appreciated lol
 
Although froyo is faster than 2.1, your phone is still a hero. We can't really compare to the latest handsets. Plus the incompatibility might be hardware related, not just speed.
 
I see, and the other thing. The mail app, compatible with Yahoo or is it just Google. That's the most important thing.
 
I don't know which mail app is included. I only use gmail, so I'd have uninstalled any other mail app.

You could always use K9 Mail though, that gets pretty good reviews. Or didn't I hear about a yahoo mail app on the market?
 
Yeah, there is a yahoo mail app on the market but that one doesnt give notifications I think and it's not really as integrated with the phone. I prefer having a default one. Anyone with Elelinux able to set yahoo mail on it?

Just read that at XDA Developers a few minutes ago. It seems there will be another update available tonight :).
 
I guess I'll just wait for htc sense froyo :P I was just about to start the process of flashing then I remembered that I wouldn't be able to trim ringtones anymore and I wouldnt get flashing trackball for email! It's tempting but those little things are important to me lol
 
Most annoying thing so far for me are a few random reboots and the fact that if you hold the end call button down, there is no longer an option to turn off mobile internet.

APN Droid it is for me again. Any other suggestions?

That's one of the downsides to a vanilla rom. I went with Extended Controls + Juicedefender to control mine, but now part of the CM6 settings is the widgets in the notification bar, which is just like extended controls.

Default frequency is 352 / 528 MHz, use setcpu to speed up.

Wipe the Dalvik cache applies if you come from version 2.2,otherwise I recommend wipe of everything.

Have mentioned this earlier on 3G and H icon, cyanogenmod uses 3G / H with the same function which forced me to select a default icon, it was H.

But in Black_Xeth theme, I chose the 3G icon by default.

The journey has been long here, but now we are here at last, thanks good.I been compiled for many hours to reach this result, it became even a custom app on the road that lies in rom ELWallpapers..

Hope that rom is functioning satisfactorily for all.

Now it get a little whiskey tonight and maybe some beer,when I have sometime again I start to look at Sense to Froyo.

But a small break it will be now anyway.

RC1 has been released and is what seems to be the final version for some time. An Elelinux Sense Froyo 2.2 would be great as well and i look forward to that!. I'll give it a go tomorrow, my baby girl got her vaccines today so she is a little angry :P.
