Root NexTheme 10% Circle Battery Mod

yawdapaah

Android Expert
Hi Guys,

Well NexTheme for ApeX is (hopefully) done. The original theme had an extra 9.png that wouldn't even decompile. Seems to be all good now; I've been running it since noon.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE STOCK NEXTHEME FOR APEX INSTALLED. NEXTHEME MAKES CHANGES TO BLUR-RES.APK SO YOU MAY BOOTLOOP IF YOU'VE MADE ANY CHANGES TO NEXTHEME.

It is advisable to install these mods after REINISTALLING Fab's original Nextheme (ApeX or STOCK) themes.

Full instructions are up for those who want to do this themselves.

Enjoy.

Blue battery framework-res.apk (use adb)

White battery framework-res.apk (use adb)

Requirements: Rooted, Koush's Droid X Bootstrapper, Fab's NexTheme for Stock or Apex rom.

Instructions

1. Download the .zip file to your sd card
2. Reboot into Clockwork recovery
3. Go to system and mount and mount system (should read unmount if done correctly)
4. Go back to the main menu and Install .zip from sd card

Thanks to:
Fabolous - for a great ROM and several great themes.
aflat - partner in crime; helped me figure this stuff out.
Fightspit - for the great icons
Qliratu - for the online cooking tool. Use it to generate your battery pngs. UOT Kitchen

Thank you for this...downloading/installing now, will test in the morning.

No problem. I just need the precise blue color to make the blue version as well. If anyone knows the hex, I can do that one too. If not, I'll guess and try to be as close as possible.
Also, please send me a screen shot. I don't have NexTheme. Thanks

First install aborted it's self and I can't get it to re-download to my phone...I need sleep, will have to try again tomorrow.

Are they the same blue icons used here: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/207986-theme-nex-theme-flavor-blue.html

If so, you could just use your color-picker on the screenshots. (But they are gradients. :D)

Crap, bootlooping on both the white and the blue .zip

Glad I made a Nandroid before installing. :D
Going to try an older nandroid with just apex and nextheme to make sure I personally didn't create a conflict.

Nope, still bootloops.

I installed over stock nextheme and I had no issue. I just went back and forth between blue and white themes. No problems.
I think you've gotta be careful with nextheme since one of the blur res.apks is modded.

How are you installing it? I'm using bootstrap recovery into Clockworkmod then install from SD card.

Edit, just tried from Rom Manager. Still a no go for me.

Anyone else having luck?

Bootlooping here also. Do I just use the .zip or do I have to use adb with this. The install I tried to do is the .zip through CWM/Bootstrap..Install from sdcard and then I choose the blue.zip file. If I have to use those instructions I saw on the other page, then I'm SOL. I couldn't even read up to the half way point of that article....lmao.

Are you guys on ApeX? This is only for ApeX rom. If you are, then try installing Apex first then this Mod. I've been using the zip files and clockwork recovery.

Try installing nextheme first then aplly this on top. I've gone back and forth so many times without bootlooping.

That did it, re-downloaded NexTheme from the Apex thread
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...-v1-0-droid-x-aosp-experience-10-20-10-a.html
Clockworked it right over the top of everything and rebooted.
Then back into clockwork and applied this thread's white battery mod file for NexTheme.
Rebooted and it worked.

I went one step further, back into clockwork and applied the clock remover from here.

And I get this, everything still intact, nothing to re-set up...Thank you!!!

Awesome. I thought I'd messed up :(. Let me know if there are any problems and I'll try my best to fix them. Hopefully, this won't be necessary with Fab's next iteration of NexTheme and Revolution.

I did this very thing, following your steps and it worked for me too. I've got the nextheme, white battery mod and no clock mod working great now.

Thanks

@yawdapaah
Thanks for the mod.

Alright. So I set TransQ launcher back as the default and then I downloaded the NexTheme from Rom Manager and reapplied it. After boot up, I then applied the blue.zip and success. Thanks for the tips guys.
