Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

I am running Apex V1.0 and whenever I try and add a contact I get the following message: "Can not create a new contact without a valid account". I am using corporate sync for my work exchange account and my hotmail account and I have gmail set up to sync my contacts and my gmail messages. I do not sync my exchange contacts...just my Gmail contacts. My exchange account is set as my "Default email acount". I installed a few of the blur apks to get the corporate sync function to work and a few other fuctions working. This is what I installed:

BlurContacts.apk
BlurContactsSync.apk
BlurEmail.apk
BlurEmailEngine.apk
BlurCalendar.apk

Am I missing an apk that controls adding contacts? I am able to send and receive messages with my Gmail account and when I add a contact in Gmail on my computer the new contact syncs to my phone...I am just unable to add a new contact from my phone. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

@Fabolous

I turned overclocking off and setCPU shows the processor is running at 528MHz, and it feels slower than usual too. Any idea what's going on?

EDIT: I turned overclocking back on and setCPU widget shows it's max 1100 and min 300 (for a couple of minutes, then goes back to max 528MHz and min 19.2MHz), It seems like the max the cpu is going to is 600MHz.

EDIT 2: I forgot to mention that I reinstalled Apex Ver. 1, clean install, formatted system, data, and cache, and still the same issue.

I keep trying Apex on and off a times, it seems snappy, but I can't seem to get it to flip to landscape browser mode. I can only use it in portrait mode. Turning the phone does nothing. Anyone else see this, or have a fix?

Does it only happen while you're in the browser or is at all times?

@Fabolous : I cannot stand the automatic switching from landscape to portrait, it's that way for all roms and the OTA. Is there any way you can make it manual at all times? It would be great to manually switch modes with the search button (since I've never pressed the search button once). I think it would be so cool if that was incorporated into the Apex rom.

Well, I just continuously run into this error anymore. My phone reboots probably 3-4 times a day whilst I'm text messaging. There's never any other time it does it. It's always when I'm typing some kind of message. Today it's done it 2 times so far, and it's only 10:43 AM.

I'm not sure if it was the low voltage 1.0 GHZ overclock I had going or if it's just that the ROM becomes unstable after a while. I'll let you know how it goes for the rest of the day with the overclock turned off.

Anyone else having extremely slow browser speeds?I am using dolphin and have not changed any settings and my browser is at a noticable creep today

My browser works in landscape and portrait.

I know there is an app out there that will allow you to lock the screen so it won't switch at all. If it is too sensitive make sure you calibrate your compass. Some people say that helps with the auto rotation.

The app GPS Status allows you to calibrate your sensors and change the filtering. You might want to calibrate and then try using stronger sensor filtering. I increased my filtering from "weak" to "medium" and the change from landscape to portrait is much more stable.

Dolphin HD hasn't slowed down at all for me

Mine reboots alot also. I tried going low voltage, and have been slowly increasing it. I am hoping that is the problem because it is getting really frustrating!!

Fabulous-

I'm running apex rc2 with the revolution theme. If I wanted to update to apex 1.0 could I just install it over my current setup and keep my current theme, or would it be best to sbf back to stock 2.2 and then install the overclocked rom? Thanks.

You can install it over the RC2 ApeX, but if you have problems you may have to start fresh to update. I had no problems installing V1 over RC2, some people have a problem with the overclocking but you can turn it off if you're having problems

I'm using ApeX 1.0 with the Revolution Theme, circular clock w/10% increments, no time in the top bar, overclock is off but I use the DX/D2 overclocker to run at 1.225 GHZ with no problems.

My problem: My bluetooth earpiece will connect and autoanswer but the long press of the button on the earpiece doesn't initiate the voice dial/voice search. I've Googled the problem but only get the problems associated with the Android 2.1 situation.

Any ideas?

Edit: Forgot to say: I'm using a Plantronics Voyager Pro which worked prior to my flashing ApeX.

I have the same issue with my Moto T505 bluetooth speaker. Everything works fine, except that when I long press the phone button on it, it does not open the voice dial, which worked fine when stock.

Got it, I had to go to Settings->Display and check the auto-rotate display, I just assumed that was checked by default, my bad.

I'm pretty sure voice dialing is not included this ROM. Just like you can't hit the voice mail button on the dialer with this ROM and have it call your vm.

You need to reinstall some blur apk's me thinks. (Look at Fab's first few posts in this thread).

If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me.

You can still use voice commands though. "Call 'name of contact' Mobile" still works fine after holding the search button down. It is froyo after all. :) The VM button does FC the dialer but I had not noticed since I use GV for my voicemail service.

Exactly. I can use the app by pressing the shortcut on my home screen and it works fine. It just won't connect to the earpiece with a long push. It worked on 2.2 with my old D1 fine using Liquid's 1.6 kernal overclocked with Slayher's 1.2 GHZ.

The search button?

If I push the button for voice dialing on the dialer it does nothing. Pushing vm just takes me back to my home screen.

So you're saying voice dialing is still active?

You need to hold down the hard search button and then say your voice command..."call so-and-so mobile"..."send text message to so-and-so, hi, how's it going". If you use the google search widget you can do the same thing through it.

The problem I'm having is random Google services force quit. As an example, it'll popup with that message and then all my contact pictures disappear.

Im running this rom with the rEVOlution theme and for some reason the panorama photo assist is not working, it puts me right back to my main screen.
Ideas?

Fab: I've noticed a glitch involving the screen brightness. Specifically, there are several instances, inconsistant, where I'll turn on the screen and unlock the phone to find that the brightness setting is MUCH higher than I had designated. I have confirmed this with my brightness level widget: when the screen appears to be too bright upon unlocking, I'll open my widget. It still reads that the screen brightness is set to 25%, but if i then click on the "25% brightness" button, the screen dims significantly (to the level that I would expect 25% to be).

Know that I do not have auto-brightness enabled in any form, and that I came from a clean 2.2 sbf, rooted, installed ROM, wiped Data/Cache, etc.
