2.2 Froyo for the Captivate Discussion

Does anyone know if 2.2 will have bluetooth voice dial?
It is supposed to be one of the features of 2.2. But I have used both the old and new (JJ4) Froyo "leaks" and so far BT voice dial is a no go. I really hope it does get worked out tho.

All I care was for the contact group. Do you know contact group working in JJ4?

well its official now. Froyo is being released via Kies in Europe. How hard could it be to port the international version to the US carriers. I mean the only difference between our phones is that we don't have flash and the ffc so shouldn't we get froyo before the international versions?

I know, I know the reason why is because of AT&T and samsung customizing android. Who else wishes all android phones could easily switch between froyo and their htc or touch wiz skins? Google is being way to open about their platform. The biggest hold backs of android are the custom skins(more the ability to not use them and use stock android instead for easy upgrading), and the scattered and lacking marketplace. Its pretty obvious how uncontrolled android is seeing how bing is becoming a pretty standard search engine on verizon phones.

I feel as tho, google is letting android be open as they pass it down to the carriers, but then the carriers aren't being generous to the consumers. I understand taking out tethering because it uses their network, but locking down phones to use bing with no option to switch, and disabling sideloading of apps is going to far.

If only wp7 had multi-tasking, custom ringtones, copy and paste, tethering, and turn-by-turn navigation.

Could you post link to this article/blog post?

Soooo maybe this means theyll be rolling out a super secret US version of Kies. Wouldnt it just be SUPER awesome if they put it in the market, like they should be doing with ALLLL the updates?!?!?

Link?

A syncronous release of the Tab and 2.2 for all Android devices would have made more sense.

This is really getting to be a piss poor handling by Samsung.

I doubt he's correct. After a comment like that you'd definitely post a link. He's probably kidding. Originally though, early 2011 was when I excepted it!

All I know, is I like this Captivate a lot, but in all honesty - I will most likely never buy another samsung phone knowing they are so poor with their updates.

I will stay with companies that are on top of releasing updates and providing what their customers want

What are they doing over there..if they were working in fixing the bugs round the clock it would be done by now..i bet they have only been working on it twice a month...or I bet its been ready to debut but they wanna release it along something else to get hype

lol..I get a chuckle about all this impatience of releasing an update..coming from using Nokia symbian the last good number of years..it's par for the course..the grass is always greener

I presume the Froyo 2.2 will only be for Captivate users who suffer with Windows.

Mabye even for people who have a Mac.

But probably not for people who use Ubuntu.

No it's not....

That tweet was from Samsung UK so that only applies to the international version of the US. I highly doubt any US Carrier will send out froyo before the end of November.

no they said US will get it by end of Nov....they kept thier promise of first week in UK...so i am hoping we will get by end of Nov....

Lets hope for it. If not I am going root....

Well, don't blame those calling your topic title misleading; I thought "Froyo is here," with exclamation points, meant a link to a download or a post describing 2.2 coming to your device overnight, not a reiteration of what's been reported in Phandroid. ;)

Point noted sir, changed the title. My bad...thought the title would e catchy, but I agree it was misleading...and oh wow people are so frsutrated with samsung...
