Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

I'm having the same issue as below. Any idea what is causing this?

Fab: I've noticed a glitch involving the screen brightness. Specifically, there are several instances, inconsistant, where I'll turn on the screen and unlock the phone to find that the brightness setting is MUCH higher than I had designated. I have confirmed this with my brightness level widget: when the screen appears to be too bright upon unlocking, I'll open my widget. It still reads that the screen brightness is set to 25%, but if i then click on the "25% brightness" button, the screen dims significantly (to the level that I would expect 25% to be).

Know that I do not have auto-brightness enabled in any form, and that I came from a clean 2.2 sbf, rooted, installed ROM, wiped Data/Cache, etc.

Trying to get BlurEmail back. Installed BlurEmail.apk, BlurEmailEngine.apk, UniversalInbox.apk still no go. Anybody has an idea?

Are people really having troubles with LPP?

All you need to do is install it from the market, hit the home key, and it'll prompt you which launcher you want to use. Select LauncherPro, check the make default, and voila, that's all.

There's no need to remove TranQ launcher, get a 3rd party app to switch launchers, or anything, at least not for the very basic task of just using LPP as the default launcher.

no no no. Putting LP wasn't my problem at all. I just wanted to get rid of the TranQ launcher altogether and have LPP as the "only" launcher. Is that not possible?

Sorry, I should've been more clear.

Yep, I have that rocking right now. go into the terminal emulator and type the following:

su <enter>
launcher -rm <enter>

Make sure you do have LP installed when you do it because you are removing the only launcher that comes with this wonderful ROM. Also there are a bunch of scripts in the 2nd post I believe that explain other fun goodies that Fab built into it.

I hear you brother. Only problem is I just want a black status bar, and not the whole theme.

i may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that if you delete out all of the apps in the REVOlution or NexTheme zips (just leaving the framework-res.apk and services.jar) it will just theme the status bar and notifications slide out. kinda wish i did this. any way i could restore back the originals?

Can someone help me out here? I am new to overclocking. I just installed SetCPU ontop of a fresh ApeX and man is it intimidating!

I tried searching for SetCPU help in this thread and there isn't much that I understand.

Many thanks!

Also, I am sure this has been discussed, but I hate the black SWYPE keyboard and black search box in the market when selected...how do I revert it to plain Swype?
anyone?

Seems like the most excellent mod for this phone. Very fast and smooth.

The only bug I've noticed (outside of hotfix1) is the Calendar widget. When I try to place a Calendar widget on a homescreen it doesn't do anything when I click "done" after selecting which calendars to include.

I did a script install of the BlurCalendar.apk, as suggested in this tread, but I still am unable to place a calendar instance on my homepage. Is this a problem with TranQ?

Additionally annoying is now I have two calendar icons in my apps list. How do I uninstall the BlurCalendar?

Here is SetCPU's "manual." SetCPU for Root Users

Stock Keyboard and Swype are in Post #2, along with the instructions on how to use the script to install them.

Fine, I want my ring back, I'll find someone else to argue with...:p

Don't worry about it, it's more of a "discussion" than an argument. I'm not saying it increases my overall performance but it does help my X when the memory hits a certain point. You may not see anything at all since your X seems to be killing things soon enough. Let us know if you do notice anything though.

I'm keeping the ring B*t*h!

The only thing I've noticed so far is the little notice that autokiller as freed 100 meg of memory (and now it's setting there empty, wasted and doing nothing :D)

your question should be why does your phone slow down at 50 megs when no one else s does? ;) Can you actually measure this slow down of yours?

He's not the only one, and mine does it completely stock so its not just caused by a bad app unless its one of the bloatware apps that everyone has/had. At 50 mb and under I can barely use my phone because it lags so bad, don't need to measure anything when its so noticeable. My phone slows down at 90 mb, then it gets even slower at 70 mb, and once it gets to 50 its basically useless

I've been running sans autokiller all day piiman. I have to be honest, I haven't had my normal usage, so I haven't really noticed a difference yet. I will report back if I run into something worth posting about

Keep it, it's not a real diamond anyway.
I went the last few days (since the day I asked for my ring back) without the autokiller and I still have the lagginess (is that a word?) once the memory start to get low. I was keeping an eye on it and it actually isn't starting to kill anything until it gets down to around 38MB. Reinstalled autokiller and no more lag.

I'm having the same issue as below. Any idea what is causing this?

To build on this issue further, I have been attempting to use auto-brightness for the past day or so, with the hope that maybe it would bypass whatever is causing my phone to switch to a brighter setting than it should be at. Initially, it seemed to be working fine. Unfortunately, when I pulled out my phone at lunch, I noticed that the screen backlight again seemed brighter than it should have been. I attempted to both cover the light sensor, and to place it directly under a bright light source. Neither of these stimuli affected my screen brightness at all.

Whatever this glitch is, it not only overrides my manual brightness settings, but it seems to disable and override the auto-brightness as well. Fab, could you take a look at this when you have a chance and see what you can find? I love this ROM, but this glitch is a battery draining deal-breaker for me.

I'm curious to hear if the people with the brightness issues installed ApeX with a fresh 2.2 base or if they installed it over something else.

I installed from a stock ota 2.2 and have not seen this as of yet. I have had great battery life compared to when I was stock. Seem to have dialed my oc in and phone is running very well.

Same here, I have a backup that is just a 2.2(via sbf) rooted base that I use when I install any ROM, I've yet to have any problems.
