Root The I borked my SF support group thread

What's the scoop on jt's new kernel (besides new voodoo)? Is it OC'ed, undervolted, have BLN, or anything else special? I haven't been on irc in a bit.

its non-oc, sv, and has bln...and of course more cleaned up code
Oh, I thought just had a slight undervolt on it? Im seeing really decent battery life, maybe Im disoriented coming from all those overvolted kernels though. I did really think it was UV, at least slightly

uv? maybe, i thought jt said not but honestly it all runs together at this point

IRC overload, eh? Should we start another support thread? "Help: I suffer from IRC addiction". :D
I go on there some mornings and nights, but it seems to be hit or miss as far as conversation goes there. I would leave my computer on to stay on there but a 5+ year old laptop doesn't like to fully cooperate half the time :o

Yeah I just leave a tab open now but damn sometimes thats a lot to sift thru for nothing

yeah, i get bleary-eyed sorting through 12-16 hours of stuff the next morning sometimes...i usually just skim links and the convos around them :D

If I left my IRC window open overnight, I would just skim through as well because I'm sure there's a lot of text entered during this time that doesn't really concern us (unless you're a dev. of course)

yeah the wip themes i like to see and any kernel drops...plus i do skim jt and birdmans back and forth as its a good gauge to see what snags/progress is going on. i can generally understand what their talking about, fwiw :o

 Nitsuj I'm really sorry if I offended you (and anyone else), it was totally not my intention. I was more specifically referring to myself in my previous post, because half the stuff they talk about on IRC I don't yet fully understand. You, saps and many others here are helpful above and beyond what I expected. If it weren't for members like you guys who mediate information from the dev. community, I'm sure some members here (including myself) wouldn't understand what was going on there at all.

haha no i wasnt taking offense at all

i was just joking saying, i can generally understand what they are saying but its like saying i can kinda understand the spanish soap operas my wife watches :D enough to understand the principle but not nearly enough to apply anything with it.

sorry, looking at my post it coudl have looked negative...wasnt meant to in any way at all, more poking fun at myself a bit

Oh alright :o. It's hard sometimes to read posts (in any forum) and gather the tone of the post from just the text. Glad I just misread the tone, now I understand what you mean :).

I like the parallel using the spanish soap opera btw haha :D

:rolleyes:Well some how I mini-borked it trying to uninstall voodoo using the adrynalyne's auto uninstaller. I think the problem was I had noobnl's permanent cwm on so I had no stock recovery. Anyway, after 40 minutes I knew she was not coming back so. Off to odin I was its a sad truth but it took me less than 10 minutes to take my SF from pseudo bork to factory fresh. Not sure thats a good thing or not:rolleyes:
Anyway, since I've been around this block before I can say honestly it is so easier to use this device and odin is fool proof.
The best part of all this is I lost all my apps so I get to re-DL them :D.
Well not exactly as I had dozens on my sdcard with apk back-ups for just such a situation.
So I actually didnt check into the Inn tonight just stopped by the lobby tip the bellboy:p

saps, what made you go with noobls cwm? did it have anything to do with 2.1 jit at all?

I was on IRC last night and it sounded good; problem was an hour later when I went to uninstall voodoo and didnt have regular plain vanilla recovery. One of those caught up in the moment things, never again, live and learn. It was almost enjoyable to see how fast the soft brick and be resurrected though. I was reminded that rooting does not take the 3-4 minutes I tell people, its really 5 seconds once you have all the drivers:p

indeed, like a dry ocean :p

im definitely a member of this club. I'll be getting a replacement phone tomorrow. Has anyone found a way out of the 0.0mb storage issue yet?

Completely uninstall Voodoo, thread on the xda forums

yup the 0.00 storage thing is real easy at this point as so many of us have gone through it, its easy to help. you can either run adrynalynes uninstaller (which works MOST of the time) or you can follow his great directions to remove the last traces of voodoo (you do loose data)

[How to] Completely Remove Voodoo Lagfix - xda-developers

saps, I finally joined the club. Went to uninstall voodoo this morning to switch to geeknik's kernel and won't boot. Hangs on black screen w/soft keys lit up after boot up sound played. Now, off to fix this thing (somehow)

u can use the uninstaller if you can get it on your sdcard with a reader/other phone but it hasnt worked for some people. personally id nuke it with adb

then you should be good to go

or maybe just rebooting your phone (that has fixed disable lagfix for me before after batt pull)

Ahhh, nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning!

What should have happened:
1) See that there's a new kernel worth playing with
2) Download the sucker
3) Add disable_lagfix to the Voodoo folder
4) Reboot and listen to the robot lady
5) Flash the new kernel!
6) Get out of bed

What happened:
1) See that there's a new kernel worth playing with
2) Download the sucker
3) Add disable_lagfix to the Voodoo folder
4) Reboot and listen to the robot lady
5) Find a fun popup that says something about the UID being different and a "I'm Feeling Lucky" button (gotta love the google devs' sense of humor)
6) Lots of things force closing, and a seemingly random list of apps are all that's on the phone. Market is not one of them, and Astro FCs
7) The Menu button does nothing
8) After a bit, the Home button does nothing
9) Grumble and get out of bed to boot the dang computer

Off to Odin, I suppose. saps, I'll take a room with a window if one's available.
