Root [ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

What is the Sync icon in the notification bar? Noticed it after installing this ROM..

Could be 1 of 3 things:

1. It's just syncing your accounts and will go away

2. You restored system data with Titanium backup, it will never go away

3. DLNA app maybe? Pull down your notification bar and see if it says something about media share detected. You can disable the notification from there.

Hmm that kind of stinks, before a reboot it eventually went away. I did use Titanium, but only to back up apps. Guess we'll see.

No, that's not normal. I wonder though, are you using JRummy's overclock app? I remember setting a display off profile with it, and when I woke the phone up, it never sped back up, just stayed at 400mhz. Not sure if that's fixed yet, I just stuck with SetCPU.

Yeah, I about uninstalled Apex because the phone was running like shit until i checked JRummys OC app and it was still on the screen off profile of 300/300. I had uninstalled SetCPU so I would only need one program, but I guess I need to reinstall it. I think the OC app was working before the latest update to 1.9.4 for me though...anyone else notice this problem recently after the update?

Mmmmm NexTheme how I've missed you... Plus added a few changes to it
Different battery icons
Blue signal status bars (wish I could figure out how to put a little "space" to the left and right of the image to increase the gap between the battery symbol and the 3G symbol... oh well)
Put ApeX's lock/mute sliders back in

Hate to ask this, but this ROM looks sweet, so I'm DL it now. 2 Questions though...

1) I bricked my phone trying to install Rubix...Did it exactly as he said to. I had to do a factory reset and it was good to go, but I lost everything. Using clockwork, I tried to restore my data...bricked again. So I did another factory reset, then restored my current ROM. All is good. when I install this, will my apps go away? if so, how to get them back other than appbrain sync or TiBU?

2) I am current;y on 2.2.15 OTA from the clockwork mod/recovery ROM (phone info says 2.2, Build number VZW) Am I safe going with the 2.2.15 version?

Sorry for the questions, but I don't want to brick my phone again :)

Wow. I tried what you suggested again, Fab, after everyone tried today, and of course it works. That leads me to believe it was server side like you suggested. I wonder what was going on there. Oh well, at least it works and I can uninstall Vlingo now. :D

How did you do these changes? I prefer how your's looks.

Elo here, wanna give a huge praise report for this Apex ROM by Fab!! I haven't tried any others, but I think this one is the best for my needs.

I love good battery life, and with this v1.0.2.2 of Apex ROM AOSP for Droid X, I got just that! I have been using all Apex ROMs before this so I have seen the stages they've been through. I didn't really like the built-in overclocking in V1.0, but I could've just SBFed if I wanted to get rid of it (found it drain the battery faster than I liked).

Anyhow, just wanted to show you all how long my Droid X when without a charge just using it as a phone primarily/texting, but downloading a couple apps here and there and doing some Youtube, Twitter (force updating not in the background), websurfing, and some music playing.

I was able to get almost 2.5 days (56 hours) out of a single (extended battery) charge!! RI-DONK-CU-LOUS!

Check out my screen shot below (Downloaded Apex 1.0.2.2 on Wed just charged today!) :)

A little setCPU management, Autokiller action, and turning off 3G data via JuiceDefender went a REALLY long way in my opinion. Any questions anyone has about battery life and stretching it out on the DX -- give me a shout.

Thanks so much Fab!! You rock! :D

Quick question for you guys running 2.2.1 -> Is this ROM as good on 2.2.1 / 2.3.320? I am waiting for that SBF to come out before making the switch.

PS. Fab, can we get those battery percentages near the end life of the battery to come up in 5% increments after going under 20%? Trust Motorola to be inconsistent like that ... but I guess it needs to warn you in advance of 10% before hitting 0% right!?! :p

Hey Steven, you can get my animations by replacing the /anim folder in your framework-res.apk with my /anim folder in ApeX or any of the themes.

Probably the easiest way to do this would be just do modify the holiday theme's update.zip file with my /anim folder and then just reflash it. A more advanced, but faster way, would be just to pull you framework-res.apk, modify it, and push it back onto your phone. If you need some help doing this, you can PM me :D

Thank ye. I'll hit ye up when I haveth time to doeth thisisth. :)

How did you do these changes? I prefer how your's looks.

there are several ways to do this...
first you have to go through other themes and the internet and find the images you want to use (theres a ton of stuff out there, make sure its compatible)
then you put them in a couple ways
1)use ninja morph-Install the theme, then use ninja morph to replace the images youd like to have replaced.
2)swap them in the .zip-use 7zip to open the theme then drag and drop the images over. if the file name of the new image is different from the one you are trying to replace make sure you rename it to the right thing. it should replace the old image. once you get them all in, then install the theme. this is the way I did it since there were over 20 images I replaced.
Im sure there are also other ways to do this, its just how I do it.

if you need more help doing this I can try and there are several other people on this forum that know how to swap images around who would also be able to help

NinjaMorph quickly became one of my favorite apps.

yeah I used it a lot on froyo nextheme to swap images whenever I found new ones I liked. but now since I have most of them all saved on my computer already I just popped them into ApeX nextheme real quick before I installed it.
Now any new images I find Ill probiably be using ninjamorph. I just find it to be kindof a pain or slower when your doing several images because you have to go "back and forth" every image where as when its still zipped you just drag and drop them real quick.

NexTheme question: Is is just me or are only half of the icons when you hit Menu from the home screen colored? What happened to the color on Add, Notifications, and Preferences?

Is this version of NexTheme (v.1.0.2.2) supposed to be different than the previous version? I've noticed a few differences from v.1.0:

The font is stock, not NexTheme.
The keyboards are not themed.

Yep, absolutely. It should completely overwrite REVOlution, as there are many more elements themed in NexTheme.

Ok so that means I don't have to format or clear any cache/data right? Just apply it as my phone was never themed?
